I feel like a bit of an odd duck here in GAMA because I'm not really a big mecha anime watcher, I watched Gurren Lagann but that was more because it was so emotionally griping rather for the (admittedly very nice) mechs. Am I as alone as I think or is anyone else a fifthly casual infiltrator?

Filthy casual right here. Though I certainly do love me some MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries.

Haven't ever watched much mecha anime. I was big into Battletech/MechWarrior for a number of years, but that's about the extent of giant-robot watching/reading experience.

For those of you who want to label yourselves as "filthy casuals", I recommend you all go out and watch Gundam 08th MS Team (AKA Gundam: Vietnam Edition) and Full Metal Panic! along with it's sequel Full Metal Panic! Second Raid.

Watch the subs, watch the dubs, watch both if you want, but watch them.

yeah me too, I mean I'm super into evangelion and but that's like it. I did watch the first season of gundam and it was fine, good even once I got past the old animation.

Mon which one of those should I watch first?

08th MS Team is shorter if you just watch the one season, and it's older.

FMP! is more intricate and really touches on a lot of stuff.

Man, I have a atrocious luck with this RP. I impatiently wait for like a month posting at a painfully slow rate. Than I become busy for maybe three days and new people show up and everyone I can respond to begins posting.

No matter, I will have to jump back in to it. Though just a heads up to whoever this may concern, I start my summer course tomorrow and am doing orientation for a job later this week which I don't know the schedule yet, so I have no clue what my availability will be.

Bluezone wrote:That's... simpler than I expected. Anyway, I now have to get to work on my character bio.
Question, though. Two, actually. One-does the character image have to be an actual image, or can it be a description (I'm fine with both, just I'd prefer the second) and the other question is how exactly the nanotech that the Valkyries use to interface with the VALKs work, I.E. what does the pilot experience.
Again, sorry for my noobishness.

It says image on the app, so I would hope you have one.

As for the nanotech, I'm fairly certain that the nanites connect to the VALK and ease the mental strain of piloting the machine enough for one person to be able to use it. If you have further question of it, my co-op would be happy to explain.

The pilot experience can kind of vary depending on what type of user interface you really decide on. And to be entirely honest we hadn't flat out come up with a single way that it interfaces partially cause we want to leave it open to some people's interpretations. For the most part when people have narrated their intra-cockpit parts of the RP they have talked about the pilot having to hit certain buttons and on screen commands. I'd imagine the interface for them would be more of a link up in their nanites linking to things like the targetting systems among others to feed them information faster, as well as the nanites processing the extra amount of data that would have put too much physiological strain on a single unaugmented pilot's brain. But otherwise would function like your typical cockpit.

However then you have the select few special cases. I can think of two off the top of my head: Rei, who started off piloting her mech using basically a game controller, a laptop, and a severe amount of technological willpower. However she has since been augmented, and my own character Gilbert, who's interface basically taps directly into the back of his head and into his nervous system. As I said it generally varies but the first variation I talked about in the first paragraph tends to be the norm. If you had something else in mind bring it up and we can hash out if and how it would work.

For some reason I thought there was three fire teams and I just attached the survivor to one of the others, so do you want one team of five or teams or a three and a pair and I'll fix it now.

Edit: Ok that's fixed I think.

I mean what kind of slaughterfest of an RP would this be if the enemy didn't at least present an equal challenge to Gama?

Cam's post actually got me thinking how DO we rout the Prots in the field consistently?

Does GAMA have nicer toys? Stronger tactics or communications? Does our intelligence network make them look a bit foolish?

We have the better support. An organization whom entirely relies upon a virus and infected is liable to loose more often than an organized and elite fighting force built for it.

Proteus also isn't really backed by a nation or a group of nations (That we know of at least). They're basically just a terrorist organization.

Well, yeah we've lost quite a bit of land because in the end we're still facing off against billions of infected... not to mention the Abominations. Eventually even the greatest of heroes can fall to the zombie hordes.

I still think a modern army would be able to fend off against a Zombie invasion.

Well it's highly dependant on the quality of the organism and the epidemiology of the outbreak.

Given that Proteus also assisted in spreading the virus... yeah. They had a lot of resources.

WWZ style outbreak probably wouldn't have many varied outcomes. But something like The Walking Dead or early Resident Evil would have been taken out decisively.

I could definitely see typical "George Romero" zombies being dealt with easily, but if it were WWZ or like Left 4 Dead "infected" then it would probably be a veritable shit storm cause at that point theyre just as fast if not faster than a regular human and stronger and it'd be spread with the simplest of blood on blood contact.
