"That's amazing!" she cheered, "Other mermaids, huh? You didn't mean Ariel, did you?"

Bran had obviously never heard of the tale. "N-No? They were just people, like me sort of."

"Ah, it's alright, I was just joking," assured Giovenith. "I'm glad you found some others who were able to relate to this part of your life, it's nice to have people around who can understand. Where do you think we'll be going next?"

Katya giggled and squirmed, nuzzling him with her head.

"Come ooooonnnn.", She said playfully, "I'm hungryyyyy."

Yoshi let go and smiled. "w-what do we have?" he asked with a yawn

"I don't know. I just wanted bread."

She started looking around for ingredients.

"I don't know really, we have a medical procedure coming up at some point here, not sure when though." Bran shrugged with a smile. "The people here live alot longer than people back in our timeline, so Natiya wanted to get the procedure done so she could be with Aleki longer. She signed us on with our consent as well, except for Rylli, she can't get it right now."

Tieria was still waiting to be rescued. he missed kei. he doubted she still loved him though. not after he relapsed twice

"50 years? I don't know really, Natiya would know I'm pretty sure. I'll find out soon enough." Bran said.

Thinking for a bit he said. "From what we know, It was caused by the Romans wanting to dominate the world, or Britannia preemptively attacking. Britannia, which existed in North America, was made up of various groups that left he empire to be independent. The Roman Empire had lasted until sometime around 2015, when a revolution remade the Republic. Latin is the dominant language of my world by the way. Either Britannia attacked the Romans to liberate oppressed peoples within their territory, or the Romans wanted to conquer the rest of the world." After another short pause, he continued. "The conflict escalated eventually to Nuclear war, and civilization collapsed. Aksarben and several other nations appeared after groups began getting large enough and civilized."

"Hundreds of thousands?", Ray stated with wide eyes. "Jesus. Well, since you really don't know any more of the old world, then what of the new one? Have all species mutated, or have some stayed the same? What's the technology level within your world?"

"Some have. And others have changed with evolution and all that. And technology? It is not quite advanced as here on the planet, but we have colonies on other planets, and simple FTL travel. We have particle beam weaponry and many other things.... and life expectancy is like.... 250? Somewhere around there on average." Albert pulled his plasma pistol out. "This is my plasma pistol. Its considered a weapon that civilians have access to, and it has a portable nuclear fusion reactor in it. This gun is like 50 years old as of now."

"I hope you can be satisfied with whatever they give you," she said, nodding with a smile. She did specify what exactly this meant, probably not wanting to put any doubts in her friend's mind.

"I dunno' really, she'd feel terrible if Aleki had o live with knowing she'd be gone before him, and she'd also feel terrible about outliving her younger brother." Bran nodded. "Torii, I don't know really, you could always ask."

"hmm....I would say beef stew....but how about simple broth and bread? Not dinner worthy, but nice."

Yoshi nodded. "that sounds nice, beef would poison me."

"I'd never want to live forever, just a bit longer though. 100 years isn't enough in my opinion, it's not enough time to see real change in the world." Bran shrugged. "Living forever though, I'd get tired of it real fast."

"Mmmmmmyeeeeeh," mumbled Giovenith, watching the conversation. "I guess that does make sense, yeah, that's fair. I mean... just so long as you don't go overboard. Maybe I've just seen too many movies..."

"I don't agree with living forever, that's why I think it'd be really stressful to be a god, but I would like to live a bit longer. Branriechians have one of the lower life-spans in the world. I was only supposed to make it to 25, so one more year. That's how long you're expected to live to in the army." Bran explained. "So you could see why I'd love to take the opportunity to do this."

[Giovenith]

"You two are some of the sweetest friends too," she said, letting go and looking between them. "Now then, today, we are young, and time is vast... whether we'll hold these same dreams tomorrow or forty years from now, I can't tell you, but for today's dreams I smile upon you anyway."

Bran held up a root beer bottle in a toast, handing two other bottles of the stuff to his friends.

Katya nibbled at the bread. She poured some broth and let it heat up, leaving it for any time. She out a small bowl full on the table and went back to the bed.

"So...shall we get our violins?"

Yoshi downed the bowl and nodded his head.
