Population: 41,369,300
Economic Policy: Mixed economic system, capitalist/socialist policies, providing a good balance for the economy. Oil reserves in the sea provide the nation with a massive income.
Domestic Policy:The citizens of the country enjoy substantial civil rights, but their political freedoms are greatly repressed. However, freedom of speech is tolerated and specific areas are alotted by the government for demonstrators to express their views and disgruntled opinons.
Foreign Policy:A nation with apathy to what happens on the international stage, unless it affects it's economic interests or it's internal stability.
Miltary Size: 1,000,000, with millions more capable of carrying arms.
Nuclear Capable: No, although there is controversy towards this, as state reports are very mysterious.
Recent History:
June 2013: The civil war continues, with the Syrian Army under the then President Assad gaining the upper hand in the conflict against the guerrilla fighters
August 2013: Government forces are in confusion, after another Israeli airstrike against a chemical weapons facility in Damascus, leaving thousands of dead as Sarin gas escapes it's containers. Syrian missile units under direct command of Assad launch 80 Sarin-tipped missiles at Tel Aviv, killing tens of thousands and injuring many more.
August 2013: Israel is at heightened alert, and for the first time in 40 years, authorizes the use of it's nuclear arsenal and equips 3 15-kiloton nukes on several of their fighters. Israel issues an official warning to Syria, threatens with nuclear response in case of more attacks.
December 2013: With the Syrian army busy mobilizing on the Golan heights, more rebels pour into the country and start making considerable gains in Aleppo. A humanitarian corridor is set up in the north-west, through which heavy weapons are sent to the rebels, under the guise of medical supplies.
2014: After the situation on the Golan Heights has stabilized, the Syrian government turns it's attention once again to the rebels, but is incapable of making much gains as the rebels are far more superior in weapons now.
February 2015: Assad, seeing no alternative, authorizes the use of chemical weapons against all those who oppose his rule. In the ensuing chaos, hundreds of thousands of civilians, including pro-Assad civilians as well, are killed and dozens of thousands of rebels are killed or wounded. Syrian troops, having equipped chemical suits, move into rebel strongholds without any resistance.
February 2015: The rebels are crushed, but millions take to the streets, demanding an end to the rule of Assad. A potent commander in the Republican Guard, Elias Dawood, uses his special forces unit to rig the Presidential Palace with explosives and sets them off, which does substantial damage to it. Airstrikes by rogue Syrian pilots loyal to Dawood kill Assad and members of his government and brass who were trapped in the building.
March 2015: Following a month of chaos and anarchy, Elias Dawood proclaims himself the ruler of Syria, and authorizes the construction of a new presidential palace. More freedoms are given to the people, and he is viewed as a savior.
March 2015: New oil reserves are discovered in Syria, in it's territorial waters, namely 14 oil fields, out of which only 4 equal the amount of oil barrels in Kuwait's reserves. The construction of oil platforms is initiated, and Syria enters into a period of rapid economic growth and industrialization. (The oil reserve thing is true

)
2016: Much prosperity is witnessed under Dawood, civil rights are restored to the people. Under his policy of industrialization and improving farming inputs for increased farm production, Syria's economy skyrockets to an apalling 160 billion dollars (PPP, modern estimates according to PPP are 100 billion), with millions working in Syrian factories.
2018: Following 2 years of economic prosperity, Syria announces the revitalization of it's armed forces and the initiation of massive research projects to design new weapons for the Syrian military.
2019: Syrian ambassadors are shot and killed in Turkey, increasing the strain on relations between the two nations. Kurds are revealed to be responsible for this, and the Syrians cut off ties with any Kurdish authority. Construction begins on a wall that isolates Kurdish north-eastern Syria.
2021: The Syrian economy registers a substantial growth in the Services sector, raising the total GDP to some 300 billion dollars (nominal). Syria now establishes itself as a regional power, after the research projects pay off and indigenously produced tanks make buying Soviet weaponry unnecessary.
December 2021: Protesters, mainly Kurds, start massive demonstrations in Damascus. Instead of repressing them, the Syrians learn of others' mistakes, and permit them to demonstrate but only in a specific area alotted by the government.
January 2022: Thousands of injuries and deaths are recorded as a secret Assad-era chemical container spills in an urban environment.
March 2022: Jihadists pour into the country from Turkey, in an attempt by the Turkish government to destabilize Syria and destroy it's economy. However, a better-prepared and a better-equipped Syrian Army counters the jihadists effectively, and they are restricted to a few villages and towns. However, they enjoy some support in the southern part of Syria, being a Sunni-majority region.
2022: The Syrian economy still is witnessing substantial growth rates, but with an impending Soviet assault on the Middle East, businesses are being cautious about increasing their capital investments in Syria. Will this era of prosperity continue? Only time will tell.
Plans: Ensure economic growth and prosperity, proper development of the services sector after industry and infrastructure have witnessed rapid improvements, ensuring the security of Syria, engaging in talks with Israel.
