2020 marks the third year after the consolidation of the new monarchy over India. The old democracy had eroded due to popular discontent with working conditions, a declining, and graying population, and Indian subservience to foreign corporations, and the constant buildup of military forces along the Pakistani and Bengali borders allowed rouge general Aalok Mall to capitalize on his popularity, and overthrow the government. The new king kept the buildup of forces on India's borders, geared up India's industry for war, and proclaimed ambitions to regain the lost provinces into the country of Hindustan, in the image of the old emperors before British rule. Thus as 2020 emerges, The Indian subcontinent is poised on the precipice of an intense conflict.

Despite pressure from the European Union to unite, and the international incidents increasing, Switzerland continues remain neutral and focus on industry. However, much of the Swiss population had moved to the European Union due to safety concerns of potential enemy countries. This all stopped after the newly elected President, Lukas Dietrich took control of the situation and closed borders, effectively preventing anyone entering or leaving the country without a special permit.

Due to the lack of military personnel, Lukas Dietrich has considered forming an alliance between other countries, offering assistance and supplies to whomever is interested. Until that day, however, Switzerland will be guarding its borders with what strength it has, and hoping the war will blow over without incident.

He was also worried about the United States the raw Natural Resources he decided would be put to good use. "San Allende" a gaurd rushed in. He held a laptop and on video chat was the Prime Minister of Panama. "Presidente I need you to review the shipping laws of the Panama Canal".

Japan struggles to avoid conflict with the huge country of China, but its economy is improving. It is still a democracy, and elections are occuring within a month or two. Japan also proposes an alliance with Switzerland, and would like alliances with the USA and Spain as well. It also sends a diplomat to Mexico.
Japan requests to station troops in India to assist in stabilizing the Middle East.

Philadelphia, temporary capital of the United States of America

The past decade and a half have not been kind to America. Once the richest and most powerful state on the face of the planet, it first lost the title of richest nation to the EU super state, then to a rising China. The USA still clung to the title of most powerful nation, though its influence is solely bought through the force of arms.

Then Texas happened. Enraged by the rise of the Socialist Party and goaded on by the demagogue John Pierre, the people of Texas acted on their delusions of independence. The Second American Civil War ensued with widespread devastation. In its wake three cities were wiped off the face of America though limited nuclear warfare and the great economic epoch of ’15 cut America’s GDP by nearly 1/5.

It has been over three months now since the capital was transferred to Philadelphia, three months since Capitol Hill was leveled by a tactical nuke planted by Texan secessionists. In these three months America has able to regain some resemblance to normalcy as the law was reestablished in parts of the American South and South West. San Antonio was still holding out Federal forces, but it is now only a matter of time before all of Texas is brought back to the fold.

Generalissimo William Johnson, acting head of state since most of American government was wiped out, is set to step down in place of a civilian government “soon” else while Johnson is speedily consolidating the power of the military and security institutions and amassing his own political capital.

America’s foreign policy also changed in the wake of the Second American Civil War. It is slowly distancing itself from the EU while consolidating its attention in the Western Hemisphere. In the aftermath of the implosion of the Middle East, the USA looked towards more secure sources of energy such as the Mexican Gulf, Venezuela, Canada and the Arctic as well as alternate sources such as shale gas. With its shift in geographic attention, its policy likewise focused in those countries that now provided its oil.

America has recently sent a delegation to Ottawa, Canada to establish greater ties with its resource rich neighbor to the north. The USA hopes to eventually create to establish an alliance of a few select members such as Japan, Canada, and the UK to offset the power of China and the EU.

Tokyo, Japan
The prime minister of Japan wishes to assist the United States, and will send aid. It also wishes to establish military presence on both coasts in case of an attack by China or the EU.

Many in the British Isles hoped that the new decade would bring an end to the turmoil of the last few years, The British revolution of 2018 had seen a republican government (with the help from Ireland) overthrow the British monarchy and it's supporters and establish a british republic. The new government however knew that there would be those that would take advantage of the political shift and with the growing presence of a united europe formed a mutual union with Ireland as well as annexing Iceland. Thus The Commonwealth of Britannia & Hibernia came to be.

With elections looming for the next Lord President plus the on going debate of which city should be the capital the commonwealth seeks diplomatic recognition from other states.

Australia has grown peacefully and isolated up until the recent economic turmoil. Australia was hit hard by recession after recession and the public is starting to play the blame game. Recently elected Prime Minister James Henderson is under serious scrutiny. Rumours are spreading like wildfires. A radical group, known as the New Separatists have formed, hoping to rid Australia of the Monarchy once and for all. They are extremely nationalistic and militant and are prepared to rid Australia from its former ties to the monarchy.

Tensions along the India-Pakistsn-Bengali border continue, as the new king has made more aggressive gestures in an attempt to build some sort of legitimacy in the face of a poor economy and international condemnation of the revolution.

The EU was a colossal state, larger than America. Many were anti-American, and even more were anti-Chinese. Some were also interested in Switzerland, and so an alliance offer was given. They also planned a military attack on the eastern US, and planned to overrun some parts of China. 1.4 million were slated for the US invasion, and 3.1 million for the China invasion. However, alliances might change, and, with an election coming up, nothing was certain.

Content, free trade began, and all ideas for an invasion of Switzerland were dismissed. The military was built up to 20 million people, and logistical support was offered to the Russians. The government also devalued the Euro to 1.15 USD to the Euro, and requested a currency union with Switzerland, and a peg to the Russian ruble of 1 Euro = 28.55 rubles

Because of the Gearing up of India's industry for war, consumer goods production has lagged, in order to avoid popular dissent, The king has ordered his foreign ministers to send feelers out for trade agreements with the world's major industrial powers in order to import such goods.

Tokyo, Japan
The country is in an outrage as Russian ships pass by to attack the United States. In another effort to bring the United States to war, a squadron of jets take off from Japan, heading towards Hawaii.
However, this time, Japan will support the US. The planes hope to send warning of the attack, and the government issues a warning that any Russian planes in Japanese airspace, or Russian ships in Japanese waters, can and will be stopped, and if they are military related, the ships crew will be detained.

With the hostilities between Russia and the United States distracting the world, India uses this time to move troops through a weak Bangladesh. The government, already having lost much of the people's support flees, and occupation of Bengali territory is underway. The first stage of the re-unificaton of Hindustan is an apparent success, however religious and ethnic tension promise to make holding the territory costly.
