The year is 2020. The USA's economy has collapsed, and almost all of the remaining money goes into defense. Texas is nearly seceded, and Mexico, Russia, and even Canada are preparing to "annex" some states. War with China is quickly approaching, as its military races with the US for power.
The middle East and North Africa are in anarchy, the EU has united into one state (minus Switzerland, UK and Spain), and NATO is near collapse.
I have grouped some countries into larger nations, so the territories under their control is in parentheses. The tech should be similar to today, 10 years away at most. You can have a larger military though.
