I actually like that idea. Although irradiating the planet is almost as bad as calling Exterminatus on it.

Radiation wouldn't really affect the Flood though, so that's a huge flaw in your plan.

If radiation wouldn't deter the Flood, it could certainly deter the SCE forces as well as the Imperial Guard.

Well by radiation I mean EM radiation from microwaves up to gamma rays, enough energy to melt the flesh off the flood, even if it doesn't kill them with the gamma waves. Instead of fighting fully formed and organized flood you get to fight half melted and mutated flood. Think of it less as a reactor breach and more of a planetary scale flamethrower.
