Actually, you can try that stuff. Aurane doesn't get exempted because he's possessed; it's actually more of a likelihood now (at least from Ashdale)... "Why didn't you try", "Why not warn us", etc etc...
Also, insanity/ evil doesn't handwave morality... Chaotic Evil =\= Chaotic Stupid + Stupid Evil...
It's the same thing behind Paladins =\= Lawful Stupid.

At least, that's the general consensus of everyone I've played games with before...
