Ours did it today, a few of my friends participated. I didn't care for it. I'm aleardy accepting of people for who they are, so I saw no point in wasting a day when I already support people for who they are.

if you have multiple nations, can you use them here as well to play your characters?

Sense. This makes none.

My school was Catholic and had a day of silence in protest of abortion. They had a day of silence in 2010 after the earthquake in Haiti, but not to protest. It was done as a day of prayer for those suffering and those responding with help. They took up a collection and we alumni sent in some money, canned goods and clothing as well... it went directly to the churches there who had orphanages attached to them.

Mine was a very general sort of, "for anyone whose voices usually aren't heard" kind of thing. Mostly people did pro-LGBT, including me, and especially one friend of mine who's cousin committed suicide because of harassment over her lesbianism. She was taking it pretty seriously.

How does an atheist end up in a Catholic School? That must have been fun.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

I go to a Christian school and we all think (even the pastor) that days of silence are stupid and accomplish nothing except to annoy the students. that's why we go on mission trips every year to help out in Third World countries...which explains why I was in Africa....I was tempted to smuggle the children back with me

The first person I met that was openly atheist (or at least that I was aware that they were atheist) was at a Catholic school. And because that wasn't ironic enough, it was in religion class.

As for why he was there, it was because the school was really, really, really good and affordable.
Me summed up in one sentence.

I really enjoyed it. The parochial vicar was a friendly guy who loved discussing theology, and if he didn't have noon mass, he'd sit in the cafeteria with those of us who didn't go to mass. Never pressed, always loved teaching, accepted any challenge we'd throw at him. We had Carmelite Sisters (that's a species of RCC penguin) in a convent nearby and two of them taught at my school.

But in answer to your question... my whole family is Catholic.
