Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

No, I was just drawn that way.

I had a friend who had that done to him, actually. One side of his head is still dented in.

Hmm? The giant walking container of pine nuts told me the straight jacket was inside the hay bale and I had to break it with my eyelashes.

A thousand eyelashes to your bare back, oh infidel Indonesian Prime Minister! I'll see your hay (HEY!) and raise you by six drams of butterfly wings.

Also... there's a rebuilding the city post here for those who are interested. I'll slowly be working these in so everything is out in the open for players.

Several things are changing, mainly in response to requests or because people have mentioned things in OOC and IC. The main desire by a lot of people is "Establish government, establish defenses for invasions, and establish guidelines". Give the people what they want...

The city has always been a sovereign city-state, so it's time it started acting like one. We'll have an ambassador row and nations are invited to bring in ambassadors. These guys are NPCs that represent your nation BUT they function like ambassadors - they aren't authorized to declare wars, and have no bearing on the city's government, but they can network with other ambassadors and the sovereign-state. For example, the ambassador from France to North Korea can complain about Korea's current weapons, and he can advise his government, but he can't just march into the North Korean government and make demands. Likewise, an ambassador from the Bone Fort, Templars, BranRiech or a Witherward can keep tabs on things in the city but can't just go to the "mayor" and demand that defenses be lowered or changed. The city is neutral but has a World Voice.

The city does NOT recognize UN regulations - ambassadors who do stupid things are held accountable by the city's government, and some heinous actions might result in a declared state of hostility between the sovereign state and that nation. The city won't invade but it will bristle.

This is mainly in response to "I want to invade". Since invasions are taking on a realistic bent, and since it's always up to a handful of players from one building to defend, it makes sense that the city support. Tech will be MT with some PMT thrown in. There will also be FT (within reason) supplied by current FT nations like NA and GT's. Hmmmm... we also have Dani, and Dani loves to invent. We might incorporate some of her inventions into the mix.

"That's not fair to my MT nation!" You're right. It's not fair that the entire game setting rolls over just to make an invasion easy. Invasions should be a challenge to both invaders and defenders. I've watched this thread evolve from silly battles to well-thought-out game scenarios. People adapt each time so it becomes more and more difficult. The city will never invade a nation, but PLAYERS with nations can decide that their nation invades another nation in response to activities done in or to the city. The city won't help your nations as they fight each other because the sovereign-state is neutral.

"Can we still do wild things, like Death Saurer and zombie attacks?" Yep. But the city can handle the recovery better now and we don't have to constantly bring the dead back because now there are civil defense (evacuation) plans in effect. Some people were really upset when Drones and Yellow King savaged little kids (or attempted to)... evacuation plans help cut down on the level of complaints in my TG box.

"Can we still launch nukes?" Ask Dab about what happened when he nuked the Building for shits and grins. *nods*

"Can we still eat pizza deliverymen?" Yep. NVE's always done it right... he finds ways where the missing deliveryman isn't actually missing, or covers his tracks well.

"Can we still drive cars in a crazy manner, blow holes in the sidewalk, do crazy things like that?" Yep. Don't get caught. But, the city's population is learning, too, and they fight back now. They've lived through three Drone invasions, a zombie invasion, several small invasions and Hastur... they aren't easily phased anymore. Demons walking down the street? Meh. A shoggath strolling through the park? Meh. Robot clones at a pizza parlor? Meh. A talking dinosaur eating ice cream on a sidewalk? Meh. Vampires, ghouls, werewolves... probably part of the citizenry. Actually, crime will probably be a bit low because citizens know some Building inhabitants sustain themselves on "bad people".

This is a culmination of months and months and months of TG to me.

Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas?

I'd imagine the citizens would be a bit harder to kill and the police forces would be a bit harder to shake, as they're starting to catch on. I'm not saying that a random citizen would kick your ass (unless it would be really, really, REALLY funny), but I am saying that they would probably not react like horror movie victims and blindly wake into obvious traps and bad situations, and the police and military might have a trick or two to deal with supernatural or otherwise superpowered entities.

Maybe instead of bumrushing him with batons like the lemmings everyone thinks we are while yelling at him to put his hands in the air, we should just have SWAT snipers ventilate his skull with supersonic armor-piercing rounds."

The bringer of destruction has risen at last. All that bear witness to the light of death know that the end of all time has come. The greatest being of destruction, feared in legend that now walks again, threatens to destroy all that ever was. Now the question is, do you join that ultimate power, or do you futility fight against it, knowing that there is little to no hope left?

Pretty much. I'm sort of looking at it like the Swiss. The Professional Army is the standing army and smallish, the Reserves supplement the standing army during times of need, and the Militia is activated during times of war and is comprised of all able-bodied citizens of fighting age. I can go into details on how this works if anyone is unfamiliar with it.

Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas?

Hmmmm.... this seems like a good concept but i'm having some concerns about some of these actions.

Also... there's a rebuilding the city post here for those who are interested.

My character are Luxan Ambassdors and there apartment is an ambassy so how will this affect them.

During the few invasions that I’ve taken part of I’ve enjoyed it when the atmosphere is much less militarily focused. I’ve enjoyed the times when it’s felt more Hollywood with us acting as a group of unique people fighting off a much more powerful enemy. (Avengers comes to mind here, as using it as the basis for my plan in the Drone invasion seemed to work well)

This is something I noticed when I did my invasion that is power inflation due to the invasion. Personally I feel invasions would work better if we all acted like this was the first invasion ever (I realize that its illogical). In most media the people being invaded are complexly overpowered, the drama of the movie/book/comic comes from us rooting for them against opposition and questioning how they will overcome such opposition. I feel that we should try to stick to this common but effective cliché. I feel invaders need to understand that they WILL lose and the defenders that they WILL win, everyone needs to understand this. All it does is lead to and arms race.

This really sticks out at me, (probably because you used my baby as an example) I feel that the people of the city should never truly understand us and always see us and our works as strange, if they don’t then it throws a lot of what I plan out the window. However my characters have no reason to interact with you guys unless their shunned by the city something id like to keep.
