Yeah, good idea, TG her about it. Having this massive nation to the north unattended is bizarre.

Hmm...Are you sure that's the reason, or maybe it's because you want to take them over? (hehe)

lol, not really, they're a bit too far for that. I just think too much is happening with the Eastern Europeans making war on their southern neighbors without this pressure from the north.

No, my nobles are. I give them the land, and that forces them to control and manage it; to do that, they need castles.

Most of that land is desert, and his original land is extremely dense. Most of your land is sorta dense, and very varied and the Khanate is friggin humongous.

Not like Krak Des Chevaliers, just a keep, walls, moat, some storage areas, some buildings, etc.

Stone. Nobody in their right mind would use wood in an age where cannons and arquebuses exist. Unless they were desperate, or if the enemy is weak.

Then nice try Nobles wouldn't be able to afford all those. Castles cost a shit ton of money to build. Not every noble with half a name can make one.

"All those"? I didn't specify how many. Maybe they built 2. I'm sure they can afford 2 castles.

I suppose but I dont think 2 stretched over all of Scotland would be of much use. :p
So if you would so kindly specify how many there were built

Maybe, but there's my point. I gave the nobles lots of land, and I am assuming that the ones rich enough to do so and with the proper motivation will build castles, which is a fair few. The nobles who can't afford it; bad luck. Go tax your people. They will probably reovlt then you can use their taxes to build a castle so taht you can control them and tax them more.

I suppose but Castles are expensive in the conquest of Wales when they finally subdued it England went bankrupt from building a ton of castles among other things.

That was England before they collected taxes from Wales, and before they had a king like Henry VII. Jesus, Henry VII collected so much money Henry VIII didn't even use it all until halfway through his reign! Besides, Wales is full of stubborn bastards wouldn't give up. Not to say the Scottish aren't, but their king surrendered and I also got Dutch and Man help. It's an investment; Edward Longshanks build caslte in Wales, and now we can collect troops and taxes from them.

So just because you can get taxes doesn't mean you can just go around building castles like they are a dime a dozen.

The castles could have been built by British Lords granted land in Scotland and Wales. It was a common practice, I believe.

Also, we are playing in a kinda of new form if that is okay. From now on can you please state your nation currency and how much money you have in your treasury, your economy and how good it is, and the New Military Fielding Cap is 160,000 Troops.
