Maybe do a dragon gym somewhere and then have a handover later in the story? I'd quite like there to be 8 badges too. And if you do it in the Solemn Isles, people will have to incorporate it if they're doing the gym challenge.

Oohh Solemn Isles would be interesting, then you would get a double-whammy of Harvor and Hoenn trainers, but only half of each! (And your Gym badge would have 3 different possible regions it could apply too!)

A Gym Leader doesn't have to die to retire. Depending on how late in the RP you challenge Kani Town Gym you might end up facing Tatiana instead of Ryan, of course you would still have to face Ryan down the road; and I'm talking your really really late in challenging Kani.

Also I didn't think they were separate countries. Wouldn't this be like two US states fighting over a small town and the town going "We want to be our own state!"?

Who is Tatiana and who is Ryan?

Ryan is my "character"-ish sort-of. He is the Gym Leader of Kani Town, that superstitious rural inlet laying just outside of Terror Forest in the foot of the Darkridge Mountains.

Tatiana is one of his gym trainers. Those protégés who hangout in the gym and battle people who try and challenge the gym.

It could be compared to the Orange Islands, far enough away to be its own region but still an implied part of Kanto? Maybe have its own league or tournament of some description as well as the Harvor League gym.

It could be compared to the Orange Islands, far enough away to be its own region but still an implied part of Kanto? Maybe have its own league or tournament of some description as well as the Harvor League gym.

Yah, there was going to be IC dialogue about it, some people feel it should be part of one, some feel it should be part of another, some want it to be its own entity.

So.. I will start travelling randomly in any possible direction, apart from the one that leads to Kani town and only go there when I am ready or just end up there randomly...
