The city of Northport, California is one that is plagued by crime, vice, and other evils. The city of 900,000 is also home to various criminal organizations, from the inner city gangs that thrive on drug deals and prostitution, to the older Sicilian and Asian Mobs, as well as the "American Syndicate"; a group of high-powered businessmen with their hands on many international crime rings, seemingly immune to the powers of the law. The Northport Metropolitan Police Department, although well-equipped to deal with such threats, is too plagued with corruption to do anything worthwhile to protect the city from the more powerful upper-class gangs. Figures such as the Mayor and even the police chief fail to recognize the threats posed by the American Syndicate/Mafia Coalition, but a single case is about to give the city of Northport a run for its money.

City Councilman Daniel Decatur; father, philanthropist, Rhodes Scholar, decorated war hero, and crusading lawyer, was ruthlessly gunned down in the streets of Northport while leaving the Metropolitan Government Building, in broad daylight. As a crusader in the war against corruption, Daniel Decatur made many enemies, from the American Syndicate, to even the Northport Police Department. With the city demanding answers, the police have assigned the case to the Major Crimes Unit, and are assembling a team of detectives to investigate the crime, and discover the perpetrator.

While this RP will focus on the case of the detectives, it will also focus on the interactions with the lawyers, from those with the DA's office, to the lawyers of the various suspects. There will be many twists and turns, as the blame may turn from one suspect to another. There will be internal drama, as the detectives will be fighting an internal battle with a corrupt police department, as well as with the corrupt officers in their unit. Chairs will be thrown, friendships will be tested, relationships will be strained, but you must band together to solve a crime in America's most dangerous city.

Name: Jed Lynch.

Appearance (Picture Preferred): Jed is approximately 6'2, and a well-toned, tan-skinned Caucasian from the United States, specifically from the South. A US Soldier, he has his brown hair shaved in a very short high and tight, with the sides and back of his head completely shaved. He has a Five O'Clock Shadow on his face as well, from a beard he had during briefly during his time with SOF in the Middle East. He's a toned, muscular man, weighing around 220 pounds. Due to his Southern origin, he speaks with a Southern accent.

Personality: A former soldier, Lynch can lock it up in an instant. He's a friendly, sociable guy (at times), but as a former NCO he knows how and when to be a dick. His record has been tarnished by reports of "noble cause corruption", but somehow, he has managed to stay on as a competent detective. He drinks and smokes heavily, and engages in debauchery. On a few occasions, he has been arrested by the Vice Department detectives posing as hookers, but due to the fact that he was a former Vice Detective, he was able to get the charges dropped and the crimes rendered null. When it comes to crimes such as molestation of children and murders of law enforcement officers, he can be somewhat of a vigilante, not above killing child molesters and cop killers, often writing off the incidents as "resisting arrest" or "self-defense".

Bio: Growing up in rural North Carolina, Jed was born into a rather "unprofessional" family. Both of his parents were hippies; leftovers from the Sexual Revolution. As a result, Lynch saw plenty of drug abuse as a child. He never thought highly of his stoner parents, even after they were carried away for making opium in the family's trailer. He was soon sent to a foster family, which soon adopted him. His adopted father, a Vietnam Vet, mentored Jed, convincing him the opportunities he would have in the military. After high school, Jed pursued that goal by joining the US Army.

After excelling at Fort Benning during both Basic and Infantry AIT, Jed was sent to Airborne School in order to serve with the 82nd. During his 4 years with the 82nd., Jed completed Air Assault School, Pathfinder School, and Ranger School. Although he enjoyed serving as a Ranger in the 82nd., he decided that he wanted more of a challenge in his life, so SGT Lynch got a slot for SF Selection. After passing through Selection, he earned his Green Beret and his career would later bring him to the Middle East, where he saw some of the worst that humanity had to offer. Now, a retired veteran, the former Sergeant First Class seeks a much more "tame" line of work. After moving to Northport, he started out in the Patrol Unit, before moving up to the Vice Unit, where he served as a member of the Tactical Unit for the Vice Squad, rather than joining the Special Tactics Force, which is the main SWAT unit for the NMPD. After serving with the Vice Unit for a few years, he was bumped up to the Major Crimes Unit, where he has been serving for 2 years. During his time with the MCU, he worked alongside Councilman Decatur, who looked past Lynch's record and enlisted his help on multiple occasions. For several months leading up to the Councilman's death, he was aiding the councilman in investigating corruption within the city government. Now, due to his friendship with the Councilman, he was able to nab the spot as Chief Investigator for the Decatur Murder.

After working for the DA in Sacramento for some time, Michelle moved to Northport and began working with the DA office there. She often worked on sexual assaults, drug related crimes and was recently assigned to the Major Crimes Unit. Councilman Decatur mentored Michelle and helped her become a better attorney. He saw that she was one of the few left with integrity, one of the few who was dedicated to changing the city for the better. He even told her he wouldn't be surprised if she was the DA someday. She looked up to him and often helped Councilman Decatur with investigations regarding the corrupt police force. When Michelle learned of his death, she was devastated, but now vows to help solve his murder and will see to it that justice is served.

As he went threw high school the guidance counselor for his school noticed the sudden changes in Brandon. He talked to Brandon for a few months about his troubles and by the end of the year, Brandon's attitude had changed and he had gotten back to getting good grades.

When Brandon had finished college he became a guidance counselor for a school in the ghetto. Work was hard especially where he was located but he managed to do good for the school, and when he was 34, he left the school hoping that the children there would serve as good role models to other generations of students. He joined the police a year later and quickly became a homocide detective. He has recently been assigned to a new case and thinks that this will be this will be the case when it tests all of his abilities as a police officer.
