Y'know, I had inspiration for like six one-shots.

That all evaporated because of the "discussions" from earlier, and now it's too late to get started on them.

Fuck.

They are pertinent to Arc 2. Hopefully the inspiration and ideas come back to me tomorrow and there isn't any pointless drama and petty bullshit to distract me from them.

Aprilis II

I have known for a great many years of the wondrous powers bestowed to me by the Gods- for such abilities I have dedicated a sacrifice to Jupiter on the date of my birth. I never revealed it to one- I do not wish to become a puppet of the politicians. I would hope better of our leaders, that they would not abuse my powers for their own gain, but it would be a futile lie. I know they would use me as a weapon or a figurehead, and I would despise it. The Gods are always mysterious, and I question whether Jupiter would bestow such power for mere worship and care-taking of a temple. There must be a grander fate awaiting me, but I am blind to it.

I wish to use this power somehow, and I do not know the intentions of the Gods, so I have decided to forge my own path in hope that it was what they intended. So I have informed my family that I will be leaving my profession as a scholar and join the Legion. Quite a career change indeed, but father took it well. He was certainly shocked, but from his reaction I think that he is hiding pride. He always wished to join the Legion, but ill health prevented him.

I don't know exactly why I'm writing this, but I believe it is out of comforting myself. Although, I think I hope that someday, someone else will read this. Maybe my future children? Marveling at their father, the scholar turned soldier of the Emperor? Yes, I would like that. I would like it indeed. While it may be perversion of what Jupiter intended, I think I could use my divine abilities to impress someone.

"This is the start of a series of scrolls recently found in Rome, near perfect in their preservation. While this entry remains intact, the quality degrades the further the entry of this 'journal', one the earliest type of documents of the like ever found. However, unlike modern journals the entries are widely spaced, some by months, although it appears the later one was written decades after the original."

A hand shot up from the crowd, to which the curator responded- "Yes?"

"Ma'am, what does this entry speak of 'powers', 'abilities', and 'divine gifts'? Did the subject discover electricity years before or something?" Finished speaking, the Curator responded to the intrigued questioner- her eyebrows were raised at his strange clothing though.

"At first we thought something along the lines of that, yes. However, seeing how the references to the 'power' the author described in the first scroll continue, if not exponentially increase, we started to believe these were the ramblings of a madman. However, with recent 'developments' of the past decade, we instead believe this to be more, shall I say, 'supernatural' in origin." Finished with the response, the questioner nodded in response, taking some delight in the answer.

"Now, on to the next scroll. This one, as the author obviously points out, takes place after his first battle with some unknown barbarians in the 'north'. Where they exactly were is unknown, only that he was slightly shocked by taking the life of another man, and is a good insight to the psyche of soldiers during the period of the Roman Empire."

Finished describing the next entry, the Curator grabbed the remote from the podium where she spoke, and projected the next scroll on the screen.

October IX

My first blood was drawn today. It was both as horrifying and glorious as my Decanus stated it to be. While I felt a tight burst of sadness as I killed the barbarians, I also felt an indescribable 'rush' of energy suddenly flowing through me. While it didn't lessen the idea within my mind that I was cutting down people, it served as a distraction from the horror and allowed me to execute the will of the Empire. The battle was certainly glorious. Sixty of us were dispatched to sweep through the forest and destroy any camps of barbarians we found. I can state without doubt that we found their entire camp. A hundred men, a hundred. I felt some fear, but from my training I had learned to trust my armor and keep my shield close. Seeing that I am currently writing this, I survived and felled many of the enemy. While my Decanus said it would be easier to get over the killing by dehumanizing the enemy- I refuse to, and I refuse to count how many I have killed. Not only does it deny them their humanity, it might very well warp me, which I intend to avoid at all costs. So I write what I have told myself a hundred-fold in my mind; they were men. Men with families. Men like me. But they also wer-

"Sadly, this is where this scroll ends. The rest of it was illegible, likely due to ink being spilled on the paper, although the cause of it is unknown. The next scroll was likely written several years later, however the date of it is unknown. The author never wrote down the years of his scrolls, and even the month and day on this one was obscured, although it appears to be caused by burns. It is notable though in that the author spends a greater amount of time on his supposed supernatural abilities."

J I

Thank Jupi , my fellow legionaries were distracted at the moment I was bushed. They had sent me out with a fellow to scout for ene troops waiting for us in the foliage. My Decanus' hunch was corr though. Me and Tiberius were jumped by t e t savages, brandishing iron spears. We eren't prepared for such a surprise, and only had our sh swords and shields on us. We both shouted for help and ran, we were cut off. We gave it the go d fight though- we slew five be re the monsters killed Tiberius. I once pitied and held remorse for the creatures, ut not anymore. They're abominations that must be slain. Tibe ius was jumped from behind, and the eld back his arms and promptly . I snapped. I couldn't control it anymore, and I killed them all. I n't know how I did it, but my sword danced with the underbolts of Jupiter. I cut the creatures down with ease- the light leapt from my ord to their armor. It hurt me as well ough. My arms were burned, and they still ache, even with the bandages and the salve- they're still burning with power and urning the paper if I touch it. At least it was easy to claim divine salvation. I don't want to reveal my abilities to anyone else, but I can protect myself. I jus hope I don't hurt myself in the ocess.

"And that is the end of the third scroll. Thankfully, the fourth isn't as heavily damaged and unreadable, but there still is some severe water damage. We also can infer that it is written decades after the previous scrolls by the author."

Iunius VII
I don't know what to write. She died. She wouldn't wake. Her chest didn't beat. It didn't raise with breath either. She's dead. Or rather, she was. I don't know what these abilities were supposed to do. If they are divine, then the Gods are twisted abominations that deserve no worship. What did I do? My wife, of mere thirty years dying? But that cannot compare to this blasphemy. She stares
at me with empty eyes and an empty mind, he memories are void, non-existent. Whatever I have done must be reversed, as such a horror cannot exist. I resurrected her. In my grief she stirred from death. These powers are not holy, nay, they cannot be the work of a benevolent god. I do not deserve this. In my incapability of understanding such cruel fate, I unleashed more of my power than I'd seen in the service. Not only is my body burned beyond recognition, my dead wife now appears healthy and alive, but it is not her! I cannot explain it, or my fury at having the chance robbed from me, but her mind is blank. It's trickery, it's blasphemy, and I have to destroy what I've done- but I can't do it. I'm too weak to kill her, and I cannot ritualistically destroy myself to regain my honor in the eyes of the Gods. But she has to die, I cannot flee knowing this.. monster.. exists. If do kill her, if I do slay her, I will never forgive myself, even if she is a mockery of her former self. I just simply must do it though. Even if it destroys me, and I must banish myself from here forever, I cannot let her live. So she dies. Whatever monster of a creature arranged these events- I will kill them. I swear it. I found her dead once, even if it is not truly her, killing the empty husk is more than I will ever be capable of doing and remain uncorrupted by self-hatred. But I must. For it's not only a monster, it's and insult to her and her memory. I must do what must be done. But when this is over, I'll never be Nectovelius again. I'll never live here again.

First draft, will be editing and improving later on. Just quickly spitting this out though.
"Quod Vult, Valde Valt"

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Do you want me to add this to the oneshots list or do you want me to wait until you get a final draft?

Nah, just add it. It's no-where near as good as I would like it, but I don't have the time to make it significantly better.

Also, if you're wondering why I didn't put in the Roman measurement of time, it's because those things are an absolute bitch to make. I could probably do Mayan or Chinese. But Roman? Dear fucking god who measures time by political office?
"Quod Vult, Valde Valt"

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

I can already tell that James is going to be the third wheel in the fight between Crowley and Azazel.
