How unrefined, Dora thought to herself. "How long would she have to serve?"

"Well.....if it's anything like the draft in the West....about two to four years, in the hot desert, surrounded by big, loud artillery."

"a nervous smile came on tsu face as she became worried" your kidding me right? you ant get drafted!!!!!! ill........be....all alone again.......

Torii tried calming Tsu down.

"Hey, don't worry! We can...uh...we can fabricate a report, and hopefully they'll let me stay for more intel, or I could dodge the draft!"

but what if they find out? i dont wwanna lose you!

"Well.....if it's anything like the draft in the West....about two to four years, in the hot desert, surrounded by big, loud artillery."

Dora looked intrigued. "That doesn't sound too bad, actually. Good weather and explosions...I'd take that deal."

"Dora.....it's a combat assignment. Out of sixty years of conflict, the south is almost as bad as the north. There's less fighting, but the little there is is much more intense."

Dimitrus cleared her throat.

"As an active conscript, she's bound to spend some time in combat. I'm sorry if she doesn't want to go."

"Convert... you mean change pantheons? I suppose humans do that all the time. Good career move for you," she said as she gently tugged his wing. "Oh... soft!" Thus ended the conversation and Blythe tackled him and carefully wrapped his wing around her. She purred happily in her state of bliss.

Swith chuckled and settled Siduer into bed. Sydney had been transferred to her own room. "One of these days, you should take me along on your vampire hunt. I actually enjoy those," she leaned against the door.

"Dora.....it's a combat assignment. Out of sixty years of conflict, the south is almost as bad as the north. There's less fighting, but the little there is is much more intense."

Dimitrus cleared her throat.

Dora's jaw clenched shut. "What are the casualty rates?" Remembering Torii's suicidal fit from earlier didn't make her any more optimistic, and she would step in if she had to.

"Conscription?" Natiya asked as she walked in. "That's exactly why I was sent to America by my parents, to avoid conscription in the military."

"Conscription?" Natiya asked as she walked in. "That's exactly why I was sent to America by my parents, to avoid conscription in the military."

"You too?!" Dora stared for a few seconds, then shook herself.

Katya thought about it.

"Well....as a reference, let's use the 1980's border war.....it lasted a month. 80,000 died within the first half."

"Right, that's it. Excuse me Katya." Dora strode out briskly, going to find Torii, Chrys, and Dia.

"Yeah, the loyalists were losing the civil war to the reds. My parents used their vast fortune to smuggle me out, being the favorite child over Bran. They left him there to be conscripted." Natiya said as she followed behind Dora. "Living here now is the first time I've seen him as an adult, he was about 10 when I left."

"Sounds good to me," Swith said. "I've got cabin fever." She was pretty sure he didn't hear her over the water. She was actually itching for another combat mission... her repaired armor was getting dusty again. A memory flashed into her mind and she cracked open the door.

"Thriller, about your dream. The armor. Do you think you'd recognize the shape of it if you saw it again?"

"Well, at least you both survived," Dora said over her shoulder without breaking stride. Up ahead, Dia loomed, finally having given up on getting out without destroying the poncho. He began to say something, but Dora held up a hand.

"Later. Right now, we need to find Torii. Work calls. Natiya, do you want to help us out?"

"As I recall, Tora, as well as many others, actually enjoyed their combat experiences. They viewed conscription as a great opportunity. Maybe it's just that she has those bad memories, or now that the finally has people who really care about her...."

"When the front line conscripts of the Branriech military are more valuable in mountains of corpses to jam up enemy tank treads, being conscripted is feared immensly. Bran was lucky enough to get into the Air force, they needed him as a mechanic." Natiya shuddered. "I would have been on the front lines."

The girl looked to Dora. "Sure, what do you need?"

"Not me. Him." The purple-haired woman pointed over Natiya's left shoulder.

"Oh, well again, what do you need?" She directed her attention to Dia.

Dia looked amused. "Not me either."

A new voice broke into the conversation. If Natiya turned, she would find herself face to face with a disembodied red pony head speaking in a posh English accent and sounding like a cross between Dan Marsala and Claire Forlani.

"Er ahem. So yes. As the herald of Time and Inevitability, I should like to invite you to join the Conservator Service, to help us deal with some situations. Temporarily if you like, though we would prefer a longer term of devotion."

[The BranRiech]

Dia looked amused. "Not me either."

A new voice broke into the conversation. If Natiya turned, she would find herself face to face with a disembodied red pony head speaking in a posh English accent and sounding like a cross between Dan Marsala and Claire Forlani.

"Er ahem. So yes. As the herald of Time and Inevitability, I should like to invite you to join the Conservator Service, to help us deal with some situations. Temporarily if you like, though we would prefer a longer term of devotion."

"Eh? You want me?!" Natiya gaped, not really amazed, but still surprised. "As long as it's not a permanent thing, sure."

"That of the Roman, you know Mars, Venus, Jove, Mercury, etc. My favorites were actually Venus and Ceres. Funny I know despite that I made daily prayer to Mars before combat."

"Umm, possibly.. Oh yes, there were more armor types. Like this one that was yellow and instead of an omega symbol, it had a fist on it. And next to him was this big guy who didn't wear armor but had a giant war hammer with him, and next to him was some guy who did wear that hulking armor but was dressed like a skeleton and had a banner on his back that said Legio Damno." * After that was said, the water then stopped running.*

[Tiltjuice]

"Eh? You want me?!" Natiya gaped, not really amazed, but still surprised. "As long as it's not a permanent thing, sure."

The disembodied head changed orientation so that it would lower itself over Natiya's head like a translucent helmet. A field of red blocked her vision for a few moments. Then it lifted off again, and as it did so, the pair of rattlesnake tattoos manifested on her shoulders.

"Done," the pony head proclaimed, and disappeared.

"Welcome," said Dia, holding out a hand.

Dimitrus and Katya followed Dora.

"Hi there, you two," Dora said, still in her on-the-job attitude.

"C'mon.", Torii huffed.

"Let's go back to my place...."
