Given the LAST debate about India and some of the gems that produced I can hardly be blamed the sheer idea that someone can rationalise a Sinai (suez) canal this early actually made me fall off my chair in shock...

Primary Import(s): Iron, Gunpowder, Grain
Primary Export(s): None, under Mercantilism
Primary Culture: Spartan (Primary culture/linguistic group)
Accepted Cultures: Spartan, Greek (Up to 2 cultures, must be present in your territory)
Brief Description of your nation's History: Do I have to use the NPC's History?
Brief Description of your nation's economy: The economy focuses mainly on the pure survival of the nation. One of the biggest focuses in Sparta is of the military, for the fact that there are much bigger surrounding nations, and all males are required to be ready for combat service. Trading in gunpowder, the Spartan Army is very much well equipped, and the navy is also a backbone of the countries' main defense economy. The government also focuses highly on Farming which feeds the hungry stomachs of factory workers and military recruits and officers.
Brief Description of your nation's government: The government of Sparta is supremely ruled by the King. He is the word of the people. But since Sparta is a militaristic nation, if the King is found to be corrupt, that is the case and one of the only cases where the people and military may overthrow him. Examples of corruption are siding with enemy nations betraying the nation's official current religion, siding with rebels, insurrectionists, mercenaries which are all illegal in Sparta. Other examples include gambling, extortion, racketeering and any other illegal activies. The King's advisors of both politics and military strategy or otherwise known as the "King's Court" are made up of 12 politicians each representing one of the 12 major regions of Sparta. Other political advisors and departments are also figured in. The King's Court includes the following:
-King (Overall Ruler, plus Commander in Chief of Army)
-12 Representatives (Voice opinions of people)
-Minister of Treasury
-Minister of Religion (Much like the Pope)
-Minister of Economics
-Minister of Trade
-Minister of Agriculture
-10 Generals
-3 Fleet Masters
-1 Supreme Commander of the Navy (Lower than Chieftain and King)
-3 Field Marshals
-1 Chieftain (Chief of Staff)
Brief Description of your nation's populace:The People of Sparta are a fairly happy, fairly treated people; so long as the government is happy. The military has more respect and dominance than the overall population and Military forces are ALWAYS on duty. Women are considered to be of equal fighting strength of men but common skepticalism says otherwise. Though most women are happy in farming or houskeeping or working in the factories, they are given the option to serve in the military. The Kingdom's populace depends on the military highly to keep it safe. Though there are several groups that want to bring the king down and his military shatter all of the great Kingdom's accomplishments and bring whatever sick type of government that could be better than the overall fair system of the current Kingdom. These groups can consist of Mercenaries, Rebels, or all around Drunks with a few handy guns in hand. The kingdom overall though is happy, enthused, and ready for whatever comes there way.

A few things, there are cultural things I do not understand because I'm not really a wiz about culture and all that. Also, I know we have guns that are like muskets. Obviously the Aquebus was an early type of musket. Are we allowed to have handheld weaponry such as something like a Flintlock Pistol??? Thank you.

Brief Description of your nation's History: The Eastern Roman Empire was a product of Diocletian who indirectly founded what first started out as the Eastern Roman Empire in 285 AD. In 324 when Constantine made the new capital Constantinople, thousands of Romans migrated from the Western half of the Empire to the East, easily overcoming the Greek natives and soon becoming more numerous then them, bringing Roman culture and tradition to the New Rome. Despite Emperor Theodosius I's efforts in 365 to make Christianity the official religion of the Empire, it was rejected by the Senate and the Roman pantheon remained intact. However years later, even after the collapse of Rome, under Emperor Hercalius who entirely reformed the Imperial administration and military, the Empire became more accepting of the Christian, Muslim and small Jewish populace. Under the reign of Justinian I the Empire reached the height of it's power, conquering most of the former western Roman empore possesions, however this success was quickly undone by what was later called the Plague of Justinian which wiped out a third of the Empire's population. Maurice, the next Emperor, abandoned the northern frontier and the dream of reclaiming Rome and instead expanded eastward, beating back the age old Arab rivals of the Empire and ultimately defeated Sassanid Persia which resulted in the Empire's complete conquest of Armenia and then subsequently the ancient Orthodox holdings of Aleppo. This however remained to be the extent of the Empire's eastward expansion, internal conflict back in Greece drew most of the Legion's attention, especially in 831 AD when the Orthodox Patriarch declared a Nicean nobleman the Emperor of Rome as the true Caesar, a eight year old boy, slept in the Imperial Palace. A subsequent one hundred year conflict that left the Empire weakened at her borders saw the defeat of European and Greek agressors, namely the Kommenos family, and the restorance of complete Roman control over Nicea and the Greek provinces. In 1350 AD, a man named Galus Octavius Caesar, claimed to be the last surviving male member of the Julian dynasty. A subsequent civil war ensued over between the Emperor and the Julian dynasty and his supporters, a conflict which took the next two and a half decades and was ultimately won by Galus, who was hailed as the next Julius Caesar given the fact the he was descended from him. Since then, the Byzantine Empire has spent her days restoring her borders and strength, preparing for the next conflict with the Persians or Arabian dynasties for control of Anatolia and the gateway to Europe
Brief Description of your nation's economy: The Roman Economy is heavily reliant on trade and is one of the merchant republic's biggest competitors, it's ability to do this fueled by the government's strict control over the Empire's economy. It's export heavy economy and trade in luxury items, such as silk, help keep the government's revenue bloated at millions of soladi a year and are what fund the Legion and the Empire
Brief Description of your nation's government: The Eastern Roman Empire after all these years remained true to her Roman roots. The Caesar presides over the Empire, much like ancient times, but now their powers have been codified so they are more like a all powerful monarch, though they do have certain checks held over them by the Senate. The Senate is of course elected, however you must be a land-owning white male who has held citizenship for fourteen years atleast to run and only land-owning white males may vote, thus making the Patrician class the driving class behind the nation's movements. The Senate is presided over by two Consuls who moderate the Senate and also may fill in for Caesar or act as a regent should the current Caesar be in their minority. The Court systems are handled by the second Consul and are composed of appointed magistrates, whom are appointed by the throne, and serve for life and may not be removed save by Caesar.
Brief Description of your nation's populace: Unlike the Roman Empire of yore, the Eastern Roman Empire's populace is much more so diverse then her forefathers. Instead of being of mostly Lombard or Etruscan descent, the Eastern Roman empire has her culture mostly formed around the Roman ethnicity, however in recent years this has started to erode and give way to the surging numbers of Greeks and Arabs and indeed even the Steppe people, such as the Alans and Serbians are beginning to infuse their culture, traditions and heritage into the evergrowing society of the Roman Empire.
