You threatened a messenger that was not otherwise causing harm. He would've been gone, but YOU went up to him and wouldn't let him leave, then laid hands on him and said threatening things with a sadistic smile. You're the aggressor here. He was simply defending himself.

Then you shot him (a person with diplomatic immunity), which is justification for retaliation. Again, YOU are the aggressor. They may have been blanks, but no one is going to know that. If you were to fire blanks at an official, do you think that'll end well for you, even if they were blanks?

No, you'd be gunned down by security guards who simply see someone firing on an important person for no reason.

Now of course, this all begs the greater question of: Swith shot you, why are you blaming me?

Didn't you say that if you had a problem, Swith, with someone's post, that you'd TG them about it? Maybe you should have so I would've edited accordingly, even though I took all the precaution to have this only be a symbolic thing, rather than an actual death. You know how hard I tried to make it clear that the effect I made would be determined by his character? Very hard, Swith. Very hard.

Not only that but isn't this also the same messenger who blew up Lidev's room? Oh yeah, totally forget that ever happened and prevent me from getting something back at the guy. I'm a firm believer of 'don't get mad, get even', but with the way it stands, I'm going to now have to get even with you, Swith.

The way I see it, I have a right to be mad for once. And I'm not about to back down unless you offer a compromise. I wanted to get even, and I got even, until Swith stepped in. So you want to keep playing it as 'oh yeah, Swith's evil by the way' even though more than half of her 'attitude' throughout the RP hasn't been evil in the first place? Or did I miss something?

The character up until now has been passive. He starts to walk away but was blocked...

"..."

The man stared at him for a moment.

"Well, uh... Yeah... So I guess I should just then... You know... uh... Yeah."

He started to awkwardly walk away.

Griselda blocked his way back. Glaring angrily at him for ignoring her.

The character remained passive but Griselda became more aggressive...

The man stared down at her.

"Yes?"

She continued to glare and stepped forward. "What were you going to tell us?" She asked. Her nametape was in full view.

And it escalated...

"I was pretty much going to say a little more vague bullshit that answers none of your questions and only foreshadows a bit, then disappear mysteriously. So if you don't mind..."

She gripped his shoulder. "Oh no, please. That vague bullshit is what adds character development. You wouldn't want to leave without that chance going to waste, now would you?" Her smile that she wore could've been taken as either sweet, sadistic, or both.

I indicated that Swith was paying attention with "Swith raised her eyebrow". The aggression escalated again...

He grabbed her arm that was on his shoulder, crushing it in a vice like grip. The eyeholes in his mask started glowing.

"Do not mistake me for a conjuror of cheap tricks, little girl. Move it or lose it."

Griselda's hand was not as weak as the man thought, and held it's structure with minor fractures. Her smiled widened when she took her rifle and point blanked the man in the stomach, using the recoil and twisting her hand out. The strange man, if he was at all normal, would only feel pain and bleed for a little bit before the blood would revert and the wound would reverse itself. Griselda had put in literal non-lethal bullets that when shot at anything other than a being like herself, would have the initial wounds heal themselves. It was for pure enjoyment, rather than to any actual use. Of course, the proceeding would've only happened if her bullet pierced through the man's outer skin. She slung her rifle over her shoulder and walked towards the building, satisfied with herself.

Swith, not liking the escalation against a person who, up until now, was only defending himself, reacted...

Griselda felts a stabbing pain and then knew no more. Unconscious perhaps, or possibly dead, Swith didn't care.

"I hate it when people f*ck with innocents," Swith muttered, lowering her bolter.

And the end result was...

If he was hurt by the shot, he didn't show it. He calmly put one hand on Griselda's head. It began to glow as he tore out her soul, leaving the empty body to fall to the ground. He studied the glowing ball of light in his hand that was her soul.

"And now the stakes have been raised."

Or at least, that's what played out in his head as he watched Swith gun her down.

"Damn, so much for that... Thank you though, daughter of She Who Thirsts. One less pest to deal with. Annoying creature at that."

He didn't try to steal her soul... he was thinking of that action as Swith shot her.

In role play, as in life... for every action there is a reaction. We react to situations. If we cause the situation, we have to expect people to react to them.

For the record... SWITH shot the girl.

I stand by my reaction. It has nothing to do with liking or not liking what someone posts. This is role play and I played Swith out true to her nature. She's killed characters in the past (and brought them back) and I left Mon an opening by saying the girl might possibly be just unconscious. My post SHOULD have read (given the weapon Swith has):

"The rocket propelled round pierced the girl's torso and immediately exploding, bathing the area in a fine mist of internal organs and bone fragments."

Bolters and their rounds are meant to destroy the mech we went up against earlier, and they're designed to explode upon penetration.

EDIT: Also, if it was (it wasn't) then Lidev has a right to revenge, not your newly created character who has no reason to get revenge on Lidev's behalf.

FINAL EDIT: It isn't a petty war between players, Mon. It's a role play. If you want to "get even" with Swith, go right ahead. I've been doing battle RP/tabletop for nearly as long as you've been alive (I started off with my uncle as a small child). I guarantee it'll be a slowly moving RP session because, when I play out a battle, I'm very detailed and don't leave wiggle room. The RP battle I did with Ceril was meant to end a specific way, and Swith needed to get her ass kicked by Khorne to advance my story arc. It won't be "Chess". My character will respond with the absolute brutality of her true nature and I'll simply have her turn on your nation... which is exactly what Warhammer itself is about. Didn't you see the video Bones posted earlier? That's what you do in 40K.

At no point did I say it was the same messenger who blew up your room. I didn't even say if they work for the same organization.

Technically speaking, there isn't really any concrete evidence to support a relationship between the two, unless you count the dark clothing and vague way of talking, which you may notice is the norm for pretty much all my characters.

Technically, yes, Lidev has the right to a revenge. BUT! Lidev really isn't the one who wants a revenge. I do. I want a revenge for what Bones did to her room, through Griselda. That was my whole point. I acted through my character. I didn't say she was acting that way on her own, because she wasn't. Griselda is supposed to be polite and calm, a foil to Melonie, who is a bit loud and casual. When she shot him, that was me saying 'got you back' to Bones for Lidev's room. BUT! I wasn't a huge bitch about it and let him have the effect that he wanted. The bullet could've pinged off of him for all I cared. But no, Swith. I can't even have a friendly payback. Nope.

I can't ever tell with you two, but I just want to say this. If you two are playing Devil's Advocate to your characters, then I'm fucking done and out. You are always in control of your characters, and they act the way you want. Whether that's good or bad is up for everyone else to judge. I stood by my character's decisions because they were also part of my own.

You player her "out of character" for the sake of attacking a player. Again, I didn't say your character was dead. And, again, Swith has gone after Tsu before because Swith protects.

Naomi also protects, but she usually freaks and says "Oh my gosh, why'd you do that?" first, and then scampers over to see if the injured person is okay before attacking. (Even when Superbia ATE Aleki, Naomi did nothing more than frost the halls and make him barf Aleki back out.) That's true to her nature.

I am not retracting my character's reaction. I posted it in character and not out of malice, payback, anger, desire to humiliate you, revenge or any other attached emotions. I simply posted true to Swith's nature.

Mon, you've got to stop letting your personal feelings get the better of your characters. Game play-wise, there wasn't any reason for your gentler character to go after Bones' character, especially as he was being passive.

I'm always the misunderstood problem child, who maybe just fucking needs a goddamn hug every once in a while to feel better about myself, but no. I get this. Again, read this as my passive response. I'm still calm because I really have no reason to be angry.

Swith has died on several occasions. Dab's genderbender gun killed off her matrix (Scarface and Bran restored her) and recently, she was killed and we had a quest to return her.

Swith doesn't often use her powers. She turned herself into a snake the other day as a form of play (Naomi loves to turn into a chinchilla when she plays with Thriller). She makes coffee by hand, sweeps up messes with a broom, puts a fire out with a pot of water (and scooped poor Kei into the pot when the girl melted because of fatigue). She cries when she's sad, feels yucky when she's hurt, sometimes messes up royally and takes her punishment for it, and generally stays to herself. I don't run in her some side stories because she's too evil for them. My characters do have weaknesses and I've exposed them repeatedly as a means to give balance to their power. I've run gods in prior RP and I think I do a decent job at not dominating other characters with them.

She used her spheres in Bran's battle tonight with his permission, and did things the hard way to complete the objective. Yes, she has powerful armor and potent weapons but it's FT so modern rounds have problems piercing it... the RPG did mess it up and injure her, however, and she needs another player's character to help her because she can't help herself. I did make sure Bran was okay with her weapons. Notice how she's never used them before... normally, I wouldn't because it's an unfair advantage. Her chain sword went up against FT from her own genre, and she did very minor damage to the mech.

Bones is seldom around in RP these days. He's been working with me on part of my story arc, which in turn is helping him to develop some of the aspects of his own nation. I'm not going to reveal what his concept is (it's not my place) but there's a reason why they're so hard to kill. They aren't invincible and they do make mistakes (I still get a laugh over that time he jumped through curtains in the bomb shelter because he thought there was a window behind them.)

If you want to take issue with powerful characters, go after the players who run characters who pull weapons out of their butts (Tsu and Dab both do it as a running gag, which is actually really funny and entertaining) or those who use magic for every little thing. There's really no issue with players who want to run powerful characters as long as they don't abuse other players or seriously screw up the RP so badly that players can't function. Pantheons respect other pantheons (so we don't fret over wars breaking out between gods) and there's respect between all of us. We have gods and godlings, angels, demons, whatever Bones & Co are, anthropomorphic beasties, hard core warriors, cyborgs, etc... we all mesh together better than any open genre RP I've ever been in, and we all enhance each other.


The problem as I see it is you reading things into stuff that simply isn't there, Mon. I'm not trying to pick on you at all. What I'm saying is, your temper gets the better of you. Your idea of "pushing back" is to take a head-on approach. That isn't using your noggin. Brutality and physical attacks aren't always the way to tackle a situation. If you go in guns blazing, you'll either destroy the other character or get your ass kicked. I guarantee that, if you go in with guns blazing on one of my characters, you'll find that I employ other tactics. Mainly, I shield them.

When Swith and Lidev fought before, Swith fought with words. She took a very passive approach and, in the end, she and Lidev were hugging. Just because I run powerful characters doesn't mean that I'm going to abuse that power to harm other characters. I've retracted a few of my posts where Swith attacks because I realized that something was preplanned between characters and my interference was hindering a story arc. Tonight, there wasn't a story arc. You freely admitted that you attacked another player out of revenge. I didn't know that until you told me in OOC.

I can honestly say that I don't get upset the way you do because, to me, it's just words on a screen. Do I get angry sometimes? You bet. I'm human. But I'm also Taoist in philosophy and it takes a lot to piss me off. I growl, and I grumble, I rage, and I say the "F" word a ton, but then I come to my senses and realize that it's just an RP and I'm letting my personal feelings trump the spirit of the game. Revenge is pointless. What would it give me? Revenge is an act of the ego.

I will be totally honest... at the moment, I'm frustrated by the situation and your approach to it. I think I'm probably more disappointed over it, however. Your attitude does frustrate me, Mon. There are times, like now, where I sit here absolutely frustrated. Frustration does not equal hatred for a person, however.
