The Protectorate

Postby Raziac » Wed Jan 30, 2013 5:04 am

First off: Hello nationstates. Now, as you might of guessed, this a role play. What you haven’t (maybe) guessed is that it’s a free-roam community Sci-fi and is based in 7894. Now for some backstory:

1.0: Backstory and beginning:
We groggily shake your head, hearing mini meteors thudding against your thin hull. That’s bad. We shouldn’t be able to hear space, not under the nearly half mile dreadnought’s tungsten and ceramic armor, or it’s weapons.
“Status Check.” We bark at the controls, a skull rending headache making you incredibly irritable. An AI hologram visual representation appears upon a holodisk. One problem. It’s not the AI you’ve familiarized yourself with over the last several weeks of training at the Terran People’s Protectorate. It’s not the one we were issued inside the Principia to be your digital partner, that we went through countless secret programs through in a Clearance Level Seventy Eight craft, one that could assemble itself by dragging and implanting surrounding space craft debris. We react rather... violently. None of the stars match up to Protectorate star charts. You could be fuc**** anywhere. A defiant smirk appears on your face. Show time.

1.2: Our ship and us:
We all control one person. One pilot. But this pilot, by extension, controls the ship. The ship can be split up into basic parts; the core, the weapons, the armor, and the AI.

1.3: Your Backup AI:
Each ship has, when they’re in working order, an AI. The AI is pretty much the pilot’s dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, friend, and map all rolled into one. We ask a question, it helps us in a way that changes depending on it’s personality. That’s right. It has a distinct personality, Backup AI’s more so than First Line AI’s. They’re orders just tell them to keep you alive and well, and all want you to be alive and well. However, those loose orders give them a lot of room to just be their selves in, so most have a very distinct style and personality.

1.4: Us:
Not much can really be said about us. Our life is top secret. We were abducted at age eight because we showed promise for something more, something… greater than the regular military. But that’s where we started anyway. If we were good enough for The Protectorate’s exacting rules, we were given promotions at lightning speed and soon found ourselves working with them. The youngest pilot is twelve. The oldest is thirty six. Our age is unknown.

1.5: The Core:
The core is what powers everything. Without a core, or a reactor, or an array, we are dead. Cores, Reactors and Arrays all provide power in the form of TW, or terawatts. Weapons need TW. Shields need TW. Life support needs TW. I think you get the point. Cores are basic. The mid way between hardness, power and availability. Reactors have a lot larger hardness and power, but they're pretty rare. Arrays themselves aren't special. They're just the framework to sit cores and reactors in.

1.6: Weapons:
We'll have to kill things. Weapons let us kill things. Thus, weapons. Weapons use TW to either launch rockets, fire lasers, target auto cannons, etcetera etcetera. You have basic, standard and supreme weapons.
Basic weapons are like Kyrgyzstan made AKM's. Poorly crafted Kyrgyzstan made AKM's that are prone to backfire. They use barely any power though, which is something.
Standard weapons are… standard. Well made AKM's. Varying in accuracy, power and TW cost, these are what you'll most likely become used to.
Supreme weapons are awesome. Nuclear machine guns. Sabot cannons of doom. OMFG death railguns. You get the point. But man, these things are expensive, both in TW and actual credits.

1.7: Protection:
You'll take hits. Your armor is what stops you from blowing up every time an ant looks at you the wrong way. Protection can be split down two ways: Shields and armor.
Armor is, unless it's regenerative, permanent. It get's hurt? No TW cost, but it's staying that way until you repair it. Kind of heavy.
Shielding is much lighter than armor, can protect a larger area easier, and generally a nice thing to have. Only you have specialized and general shielding. Kinetic shielding stops bullets and slugs and missiles. Radiation shielding stops radiation. Energy shielding stops energy weapons. I think you get the point. General shielding is kind of like a 'jack of all trades'. All shielding has a capacity. When it's hit, this capacity lowers to zero, then requires TW from the core to regenerate. So yeah.

1.8: Ships:
There are a plethora of different types of ships to attack, trade and make allies with. Freighters, Raiders, Skiffs, Flag Ships, Capitol Ships, Mining Barges, Space Stations and Habitation Spheres make up the normal array. However there are a few unusual, ‘unique’ ships, such as the ones The Protectorate had you pilot. The only one that I will currently disclose is ‘The Citadel’, a large spaceship that is bristling with armor and weapons, so much so it’s nearly invincible. Nearly. It also’ll create small drones to try and kill you.

1.9: Rules:
1) Keep it civil, please.
2) Most opinions are valid. No flaming. Show respect. ETC ETC ETC.
3) Majority vote wins, no matter how stupid you think it is.
4) We share control. No gmodding.

2.0: Commands:
Commands are things you ask me to show you. So, for example, Show Inventory asks me to show the gear we have. Show health gives you the medical condition and condition of repair we're in. Show map gives you a description of the local map (if we've pinged it). You, I hope, can see where this is going.
IC BEGIN!
We seem to be in a uninhabited asteroid belt. Our sensors are still working, but our passives only give us a limited view. However, turning on the active scanners will pinpoint our position to anyone nearby...
