Eh? D+D might suggest as much, but literally, in LotR, Uruks can run down horsemen. I'm not saying Ugluk can outrun a horse; I'm just saying his kind is bred for running fast for a long time in a way humans simply aren't.

On another side, there is no way an Orc Warrior is faster than an Human Bard. At least logic and D&D suggest so.

Depends on the type of warrior and armor, to be honest. Orcs and Humans both start with a base speed of 30 ft. Additionally, if the Orc Warrior is a Barbarian, his class gives him a speed bonus of ten feet, meaning the Orc Warrior would either be FASTER than the bard (40>30) or the same speed (if in heavy armor, reducing the speed back to thirty). If by "Warrior", "Fighter" is meant, he'd be either 30 or 20 feet in speed, depending on whether or not he has heavy armor on. If by some stretch, "Warrior" means "Monk"(technically a melee class), his speed would be much faster than a human bard, and would be scaled to Monk Level.

As an Ogre Barbarian, I theoretically am almost twice as fast as said human bard (Ogre Base Speed 40 + Barbarian Bonus Speed 10 = Speed of 50 ft)

I think that it's just a minor monster rather that the big boss.

Edit: Actually, reading back, it seems as if it is a major or perhaps central monster of the maze.

Yeah, I had a big nasty creature in my luck RP, but it just menaced instead of threatening an immediate total party kill.

I was actually just kidding about the diplomacy bit (I felt that I needed to make a ridiculous unconventional suggestion, because today in the D&D game I run my party attempted to beat an undead dragon by casting resurrection on it, so they could (try to) handle it diplomatically)
... but if you really want to attempt to charm the beast with music that's fine I guess.
