Kara was happy that that she would be announcing the agenda, this would make her look like a good leader, and that would help her when she needs to get reelcted, and perhaps run for office. "What do you think of the Tea Party? I find it odd that a single-issue party could of gotten elected. Even though we agree on that one issue they are probaly more authoritarian than us, because we also belive in lowering taxes, and they don't have a good image, either."

Mark Abel walked alone out of the Verizon Center. He was late, as he usually was, and he had no friends in the Senate to come with him. He walked into the only remaining limo, which had Republicans and Democrats inside, all late as he was. He didn't enjoy the atmosphere which congress presented. It was clique-y, and focused more on politics than helping people. He ducked into the limo and heard no one talking. No one at all.

"Well reducing spending is synoymous with lowering taxation, and everybody wants to reduce the national debt. Do you know if Ash Umbrian wants to end the wars in the Middle East? That would certainly lower taxes, but conservatives support the wars."

Senator Ash Umbrian (T) Idaho
House Chambers 13:00

The Tea Party caucus spent some time at the picnic before prematurely returning to the House Chambers. The rest of politicians were starting to show up. The Tea Party had resigned itself to its "Headquarters" in the Senate Library. Senator Umbrian however was not with them and instead was inside the House Chambers sitting at one of the tables finalizing the Tea Party's platform.

Kara mingled with the other congressmen and women, but the issue of politics never came up, oddly enough. Then the meeting at the house chambers came.

Zinger quietly found a seat and began to chat with several of his fellow Democrats over what their platform would be and what they would focus on. zinger watched as more people entered the room and more Democrats joined the discussion, the usual calls for focus on Education and Welfare were popular along with several other reforms.

In the House Chambers, the Republicans were all being very timid and none wanted to speak up or be the person to present their platform to the President. Representative Tyler Wells decided he would step up and be the person to speak for the party. They all got together and began to work on their platform. It didn't take long to come up with their views that Tyler would present. Now it was only a matter of time before the president called him for the meeting.

House Chambers
1:30 PM

President Bennett walked up to the podium. He prepared himself to speak then he started. "Hello ladies and gentlemen of the congress, I have prepared a speech to begin.
Ladies and gentlemen, the people have elected you to congress for a reason. They elected you to represent their thoughts and views. I see how this congress is fragmented and against each other. This congress cannot stand if we are at each others necks. We are in an economic recession. If this congress is arguing all the time, how are we going to fix this recession? We are ushering in a new government. Do you remember when immigrants thought that the streets were paved with gold. I have never seen a congress that agreed all the time. I want this congress to bring itself together and compromise, agree, and become friends. Right now the United States is in darkness. But we will rise from the darkness and we will shine. We have faced a terrorist attack, two wars, and a hurricane that has devastated the nation. The people elected all of you to make this nation great again. As quoted from the words of Martin Luther King Jr.I HAVE A DREAM THAT TODAY this great congress of ours will band together and make this country great again. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for spending this wonderful afternoon with me.Now will the Republican representative have the honor to step up and speak of the Republican Agenda for the next four years. Now, God bless you all, and God bless America." After that energetic speech President Bennett sat down and waited.

Kara found Jim Saber again in the House Chambers "One last question, do you think that we should have gradual withdrawal of our troops?" Kara was torn on the issue, and wanted to know what Jim thought.

"I'd agree, were getting nowhere in Iraq and Afghanistan is going the same way. It is safe to say that we should have a smooth tranistion out of there. Focus more on the problems we have here at home, we cannot be policing two nations that are rabid with islamic extremists. We'll never win there, and we need to accept that." The new Senator said, Vincent Ray Lacotti III was many things. One of them was realistic, having served in Iraq, he witnessed the failures of the Bush administration to find "weapons of mass destruction".

Sitting near the from row, Secretary Waters politely applauded the President's speech. The passion was definitely there, but the Secretary had been hoping to hear more specifics. Then again, there'd be time for that very soon.

As the applause died down, Waters began to imagine what the G.O.P. agenda would be. Hopefully nothing too extreme, but he was ready for a fight if it came to that.

Senator Umbrian dismissed the speech. Typical speech for the president. The other Tea Partiers walked in and sat next to the Senator. "its time we made our little speech isn't it?" he questioned.

Tyler Wells walked up to the podium holding a few sheets of paper containing his party's platform for the next four years. "Thank you Mr. President," he began. "This here is our Republican Platform. It is a statement of who we are and what we believe as a party and our vision for the next four years.

First off here is our economic and fiscal plans. Right now we are in the midst of large economic and fiscal problems. To fix the economy we need more job creation, not by the federal government but by private businesses, both small and large. To accomplish this we need to encourage the free market system by cutting taxes on businesses, especially small businesses, that choose to stay in the US and employ American workers. Currently the United States has the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Reducing the corporate tax rate along with many government regulations being cut back will allow American made products to be competitive with the rest of the world. The tax system needs a complete override that makes it comprehendible and fair. Taxes should be raised on nobody including the top 1%. Also an amendment needs to be added that will require a supermajority vote for any future tax increases. Raising taxes cannot solve the budget deficit so instead nonessential programs that are wasting money need to be cut. Tax dollars should be used solely for programs that are essential to the nation. Spending cuts need to be enforced to put the nation on the path to a balanced budget. The government right now is spending out of control. Each program must adequately answer these three questions to determine the need of it for our nation. First, is it within the constitutional scope of the federal government? Second, is it effective and absolutely necessary? And third, is it sufficiently important to justify borrowing, especially foreign borrowing, to fund it? The spending must stop so that our children will not have to be the ones to pay the consequences. Programs such as Medicare and Social Security need to undergo reforms that make them more effective and cheaper to operate. Because of the increase in life expectancy, the age for all future Medicare and Social Security recipients currently under the age of thirty needs to be raised by two years. We support a constitutional amendment that requires a balanced budget at the end of each fiscal year. Inflation also needs to be reeled in so that the value of the dollar will not continue to decline. As for energy, the Republican party takes an all of the above approach. We need to take full advantage of our coal, natural gas, and oil supplies in addition to searching for alternate energy sources. America needs to become energy independent to be able to sustain as a country. The government should not be funding any energy companies. Nuclear power, green energy, and our fossil fuels should all be taken advantage of.

Now our party's social views. The Republican Party believes that all humans have certain God-given rights. Because of this we fully support the first amendment that guarantees the freedom of religion. Students should have a right to pray in schools and at public events. We believe that the government should not be allowed to mandate the any institution, faith-based or not, be forced to provide contraceptives to their employees. This goes against their morals and infringes upon this right. Abortion should be outlawed in all circumstance because life begins at conception and therefor abortion constitues murder. Unborn children should have the same rights under the law as any other citizen. No government funding should go to Planned Parenthood or other groups that fund abortions or contraceptives. We also oppose both euthanasia and physician assisted suicide. We define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. We believe in our second amendment right to bear arms. Every law-abiding citizen has the right, after registration, to own a gun. No limits should be put on number of guns or limits on rounds. Legal immigration is welcomed and even encouraged but all illegal immigrants should not be allowed to stay. Our borders need to be more secure to prevent the large number of aliens who enter the country illegally and steal American jobs. Reforms need to be put in place to verify the citizenship of all workers before they get a job.

As for national security, America must be the world leader. We must acquire peace through strength. This means that a large US military to deter others from wanting to attack. Every potential enemy needs to know our capacity and understand our commitment to our military. We need to be up to date on all military technology and a fully capable intelligence agency. We need to maintain our nuclear weapons to prevent others from attacking us. We must stop other countries, especially one's with unstable leaders, from obtaining nuclear weapons even if that means military action. Our military must be a force for good and protect human rights and promoting democracy to other nations. We will stand by our allies Israel. We must take a firm stance on China and the nations in the Middle East. We need to express our disapproval of many of their practices.

This is our current platform although it might be tweaked in the upcoming years. Any questions?"

But, what if the norm for men is to marry another man? I don't agree that the government should be able totell people what to do when it comes to their personal lives."

The president then raised his hand as if he was in school "Yes I have a question, why do you think marriage should be restricted to only man and woman? I myself is a married man. But, what if the norm for men is to marry another man? I don't agree that the government should be able totell people what to do when it comes to their personal lives."

Senator Umbrian busted up laughing, he couldn't contain himself. This president was indeed direct, this was going to be fun. These next few years, no matter how divided the country was, were in the hands of a man who wanted to change the nation for the better, the speech he made in fact did come from the heart. Umbrian had strong convictions against allowing gay marriage to occur, not because he didn't like them, but because of polygamy and other things of that nature. But the president, in that one sentence had changed everything. Umbrian had indeed changed his entire outlook on same sex marriage. He of course was now being stared by quite a few members of congress and proceeded to control his laughter.

President Bennett saw Senator Umbrian burst out in laughter. Bennett then asked"Senator Umbrian, is there a problem?"

Marriage between one man and one woman is recognized as a public institution, it is not just their personal lives. Marriage is important offers the State what it needs most: children. Children grow better when that have a family that includes the love of their mother and father. Redefining marriage to include same-sex partners would thus remove the essential public purpose of marriage from its definition, that is, the procreation and education of children. Redefining marriage would reduce all marriages to the status of private relationships with no relation to the common good. This makes marriage as an institution utterly superfluous. To render a public institution superfluous is, of course, to undermine and call into question why the state should recognize and support that institution at all.

The whole chamber became quiet at the words of the president. "No Mr. President, No I am laughing because that was such a direct question, there was no finesse to it. You've just summarized the inevitable. Our children think its fine and have no problem with it. our grandparents and great grandparents went through a similar situation, and as history has shown us, whenever a group within the United States has been denied rights, there are those who are willing to stand up for their rights and will shout loud and proud until their voice is heard. Mr. President, your words have exemplified what small government truly is, it is letting citizens do what they want with their lives. Mr. President I am laughing because I was to thick headed in the past to accept same sex marriage, I am laughing now because it is time to put same sex marriage to rest." Senator Umbrian sat back in his seat. The Tea Party, it stood for anti government. The only way it could be anti government was to take a libertarian approach.

"People have their rights. I believe homosexuals have the right to marry. There is a growing population of these people. Marriage between men is like abolishing slavery, slave acquired their freedom, and homosexuals should have the right to marry. Marriage is basically showing who you want to be with for your entire life. Also marriage is just a private relationship, except you're just promising that you will spend your lives together.

Representative McDaniels entered the room, not allowing the embarrassement of his being late to show on his face. He walked found his seat in between a democrat and a republican. He then proceded to shake hands and greet both of them.
