To the Pope,
We will not attack any Catholic cities anytime soon. The rumors are unfounded and baseless, likely spread by some heathen traveler. We will endeavor to keep peace, as be under you holy guidance.

Dear Duke of Florence,
You may, and please point out the may, be the successor state to the old March and Duchy of Tuscany, but that would mean that you also would need to attack the larger States of Pisa and Lucca[Or Siena, I dont remember which one was conquered by Pisa and which one is a player].
This would cause a large instability of peace between the States north of the pope.
And this peace is important.
Last time we were in war, the Germans used it to claim you as part of their empire.
You have now de facto independence, but that can change fast....
The french sit to the west, the germans in the north.
Both of them wait, wait untill local conflicts split Italia into warring states, which only have eyes for their Italian neighbours.
And then.... They would attack. Each of them has the power to easiliy destroy one of us alone. And they could gobble us up, one by one....
But they dont, they know that currently we are too united and that we would bury our rivalries against foreign invaders.
But they also know that that would change if you continue your attacks in Tuscany.
For the sake of us all.
Dont do it now.
Later, when the crusade is over, when we manage to get good ties with milan....
Then will be the Rise of Italy.
Together, we, the strong lords of Italy, you, Pisa,Milan, and of course Venice, will unite italy under our banners, and will reestablish the Lombard League.
And who knows..... Maybe then the Lombards will look back to their ancient lands in the north?

In conclusion, I understand your claims, but for the safety of Italy,
DONT ATTACK NOW.
Italy needs to be secured carefully.
And together.
Be aware that, should you continue your current attacks, Venice will support uprisings in the besieged states.

Sincerely,
Hoping for our shared interests to be seen by you,

Central Eastern Lithuania

Russian forces, flanked by hordes of Polozk heavy cavalry and riders from the far east, pushed forward deeper into the wooden Lithuanian hill country. It wasn't optimal terrain for the cavalry, but the Golar had fought and won engagements in far less hospitable conditions.

In clash after clash the local levies proved themselves no match for the hardened Rus warriors. There was a difference, thought the Duke, between militiamen and soldiers. Civilization advanced as disorder fell and fled. He didn't even burn many villages as the forces of Great Russia cut their way towards the Lithuanian capital in the north.

Far ranging scouts had brought word of the barbarian chiefs massing in the north. Soon they would taste Russian resolve and steel.

Odessa, Kingdom of Kiev

The Russian fleet was not mighty by any of the standards of the world; it was small, a mere forty vessels. It was manned by sailors who had little experience with the turbulent Black Sea and its ways, but they were men quenched in the icy death of the Baltic in the bitter north. The soldiers that trooped aboard the massive war cogs were grizzled veterans of the Grand Prince's many campaigns. Provisions and timber were stowed, and sails readied.

Under the cover of night the Russian fleet sailed east.

Volgograd, Kipchak Khaganates

The men heaved, Ceorl with them, and the massive siege tower inched closer to the battered walks of the Kipchaki stronghold. Arrows whisked down beside him, and others struck the wet front of the mighty machine, but none struck the men, protected as they were in the lee of the behemoth. Answering quarrels leapt from slats in the moving fortress, an exchange of fire the Lietanaunt fervently hoped would slay many heathens. Around him the Rus man could make out many other gigantic constructs inching to the assault.

The city had been battered for a month, and many of the defenders were not on the walls to defend them, for they were in the streets below the ramparts tending to fires and the wounded. Even as the thus of the engine against the stones reverberated through Ceorl's bones a fresh volley of flaming munitions arced from behind him into the fastness.

Orders were barked, and the Russians swarmed up the stairs within the beast. A ramp was lowered, and ahead of the Muscovy man Varangians swarmed the defenders, yowling "Urra!" in voices that made his blood run hot.

Through the gap he followed.

Zaporizhzhya, The Kahnates

To the North, Columns of Men surrounded Dnipropetrovsk

To the South, Longships raided and seized Melitopol

And here, here in Zaporizhzhya, Emmetovich and his men prepared to take the city by force.

The group of 20 men under Emmetovich's command were all Regular Skirmishers who had fought for more than 10 years. They all maces or swords, no pole-arms which were to unwieldy. Each man wore yushman Armour, covered in studded leather to prevent shining. They ran at a slow pace along a small ravine leading into the semi-fortified river city of Zaporizhzhya. The people there would be unawares of the conquests of their brethren, as the rapid advance allowed the Army to move faster than the refugees. That wouldn't last, but with most of the Khanates being forced to defend against the Great Rus or the Pereslavl, their was little left to defend the Walla Walla and Sich Khans from the Kievans.

The group reached the point where the ravine entered a sewage ditch. The men entered and bent ran towards the city. A young man stood guard at the end of the ditch. Emmetovich paused his men, amazed at the astuteness of the Zaporizhzhyans. He gave the guard a quick over. He was young, not more than 17, with a crude spear and hide armor. Emmetovich signaled for their archer, a small man with a cruel aim. Drawing the sickll barbed arrow from his quiver, the man placed it in his double recurve bow. He creeped forward. upon reaching 5 meters away, he loosed his arrow.

It collided with the guard in his forehead, killing him instantly. The rest of the men ran forward. Towards the end of the ditch was a stairwell. Two men, maces out and ready, moved up it. There was a thump, gurgle, then one man came back down wiping his mace on his jerkin.

"Tis clear"

Emmetovich lead the men up the stairs. Up top the saw they were next to the gate house. Emmetovich and another man broke down the door. It was unguarded. Disgraceful. The two men swung their swords and cut the ropes holding the gate. As it fell, Emmetovich lit the beacon uuntop the tower. Acroos the plains, 400 Boyars and 2,000 Soldiers raced into the city. By Dawn, It was theirs.

Pereyaslavl

"The bastards slew our Khan for siding with you!" Ibrahim Yasin waved his arms. "Assassinating a leader... it's regretful that the world still looks to this as a solution." Prince Pavel acted. "They killed our Khan. We won't stand with the Khanates any longer. You have my sword." Yasin drew his scimitar. At least one of Pavel's guards almost pissed himself, seeing a Muslim standing before his leader with a deadly weapon. "I thank you. We will ensure that these killers pay." Pavel said.

Mopak Province

Three Uhlans rode over the hill. Only one had been planned to be sent, but in the end, three had been decided on. A company of about six hundred troops in total, not the largest army, but a force to be reckoned with all the same. "Stop." Their leader held his arm out, and unslung his bow from over his shoulder. "Something isn't right. There should be Mopaki workers here." He said. "Something is very wrong..." Another rider said.

The Pereyaslavl army had retreated closer to Pereyaslavl, and began marching down the road. Mopaki citizens cheered as they saw what they believed to be the saviors of Mopak. The Uhlan came into sight and they stopped. "What?" Their leader was dumbstruck. "In the name of Pereyaslavl and Mopak, we charge you with the murder of the Khan!" General Zaharchuk bellowed. With a cry, the Pereyaslavl army charged at the Uhlans. Kolinski mentally prepared himself for blood and carnage. He squeezed his eyes closed, then heard the terrifying clash of metal and flesh. "Pereyaslavl! I will make you hurt, Pereyaslavl!" A voice behind him roared. He turned around to see a beefy man, almost two meters tall, carrying a flail in one hand and an ax in the other. He swung the mace around like it weighed nothing. "Alright. Let's fuck." Kolinski said. "Wait... what you say, Pereyaslavl?" The giant stopped in his tracks, confused. Kolinski threw himself at the giant, and in an amazing stab, plunged his sword into the man's belly. The giant looked at him with contempt, and swatted Kolinski aside. "Fuck!" Kolinski rolled to his feet, but the giant was stumbling, and clutching his stomach. "Pereyaslavl... how?" He wondered, then collapsed. Kolinski grabbed the man's mace, and to his surprise, it was incredibly light. "Asshole." He looked at the corpse who had scared him with the massive weapon. The mace was hollow. Probably wouldn't hurt a bit.

Pereyaslavl spearmen inflicted much loss and despair upon the Uhlans, cavalry based. Halberds ripped through flesh, sinew and muscles, and maces and hammers shattered bones. Kolinski and Tupolev were standing back to back, defending each other as the Uhlans dashed each other on the rocks. "We are routing them!" Kovalenko cried. "Do not let any escape!" Zaharchuk shouted.

The remnants of the Uhlans turned heel and ran, over half of their number decimated by the massive Pereyaslavli armies. Kovalenko rose a trumpet to his lips and blasted three loud notes. Battle cries emerged as the brush exploded with Mopaki, flanking the Uhlans on all sides. Knives and scimitars hacked as the Uhlans screamed. In the end, eighty Pereyaslavli, ten Mopaki and six hundred Kipchuki had been killed.

To the general for the invasion of the Balearic Islands,
Are the troops ready? They must sail soon before the Muslims regain their strength. We assume that the 7,500 assigned will be marching soon. Do not fail us, as this has taken many months of preparation.

France, Border with Provence.
"Shall we cross the river now my Lord."
"Yes and let's be quick about." King Justin pointed across the River and the French Flag Signals went up. 12,000 French Troops began to cross the River. 9000 infantry, 2000 cavalry, and 1000 engineers. They also crossed with 10 Trebuchets and 5 siege Towers. Justin's Army was marching through Provence and on to the Borders. With the wedding over and the Coronation done Justin could focus on maters closer to home. It was a big celebration but ended quickly. King Justin was also beginning to have a hostile attitude towards Pisa, Florence, Byzantium, Venice, and the Russians. They were beginning to stamp on his plans with their actions. He had to act quickly. Justin had already increased border patrols and added 3000 militia to the 74,000 soldier army of France. He had thousands on the borders and roads, and Bandits and Outlaws were all but extinct in France. He had Pierre halt the attack on Jerusalem until further notice and he began to collect more taxes. He needed money and the nobles had the amounts he wanted. He also began to increase the amount of Mining and woodcutting in France. So far France was doing great but He and his people had a long way to go before they fulfilled French Dominance. France would be the Master Race in Europe and Justin wanted space for the French people to thrive and live. The HRE was the perfect target......

The Emperor looked at the Map.The eastern borders, even though not as glorious as the past ones, were enough.
The Bulgarians, now allies of the Empire, were uniting the north balkans.
In the east however things were not as glorious,Italy, once a Greek province was now a bunch of city states, threatening ones.In order to secure the Empire's borders a letter was sent to Florence, reuqesting that their leader arrives in Constantinople

We are honored by your offer for us to come to the great city of Constantinople great emperor of eastern Rome! I will start almost immediately to get there.

King Justin stares at his World Map. He looks at England, then Venice, then Florence and Pisa, then the Orthodox. He wondered why Humans were so corruptible and Evil. Then He got back to reality and began drafting a letter.

Dear Venice, England, Sicily, the Papal States, and Pisa. These are dark times and we need to stand together. I propose we form a treaty agreement. The Western Catholic Brothers League. It will ensure that we don't have to worry about war with each other and we can deal with the Muslims and other Heretics. What say all of You. Will you join the League.

The King receives the French letter, and is appauled at how outrageous the French King can be. A letter is sent in reply:
"I have made two alliance offers, you denied both. I sent two peace confirmations, they were only signed when the Pope forced you to. You attacked the Holy Roman Empire, occupied Venice, vassalised Provence, betrayed Milan and tried to vassalise Blois, and you honestly think that I am going to trust you? I don't know what you have been drinking, but this is just ridiculous! England will not be joining this 'Western Catholic Brothers League', unless the Pope decrees it or you can convince us."

Central Lithuania, Lithuania

The heathens were arrayed in their ranks, patchwork uniforms and dozens of disparate banners marking the unity of the barbarian cheifdoms. Duke Rostov spat in contempt as he surveyed their lines. The men were ill-disciplined, holding their halberds at outrageous angles and in only a poor semblance of a formation. He thanked the Lord Almighty that the heathens were such fools; how they could hope to defeat hardened Rus troops was beyond his ken. He nodded to his bannerman, and the beefy individual put a loud horn to his lips and blew.

Low and threatening the instrument wound, its echoes filling the air, and behind it came the steady beat of Great Russian drums. Each company of the Great Companies had its own drummer to set the pace of advance for the infantry, and as one they rolled. Tam. Tam. Tam-tam-tum. Click-click-click. Tam. Tam. Tam-tam-tum.

In a mass of steel and stony faces the Rus infantry advanced, their lines as flawless as if they were on parade. These were veterans of the conquest of Polozk and Novgorod, iron men with arms of cold Russian steel. At each flank the riders came, and behind the soldiers advanced his cavalry in a solid block.

Against them came the Lithuanian lancers, their speedy advance ragged, put dangerous. He chopped with one hand at the banner man, and the horn winded again twice, then once long. The drums clacked and fell silent, and the infantry parted lines. Like a wave across the ocean the heavy cavalry spurred their steeds, picking up speed, a lethal body of horse and cold-hearted men. They crashed throught the lancers like a knife through a pat of lard, and then through the infantry lines similarly, splitting the infantry lines like a ripe eggshell. The Duke's stomach growled, and he laughed. It was lunchtime, and he turned from the affray as his infantry surged through the gap and behind the enemy lines even as they fellowmen fought in the front.

The Lithuanians were anihilated, entrapped by the shock of the massed cavalry charge, and died where they stood, their chief of chiefs with them. Lithuania was Russia's for the taking.

The Russian fleet rounded the Crimean Penninsula, still sailing east.

Dear King Julian, the French King is disappointed that you declined but understands. We will not convince and we will not make the Pope do so either. Our past mistakes are very deep and we were cowards then. If you change your mind please write us back, but until we consider relations Indifferent. We apologize for past grievances and we hope you understand our position. However we will have no further contact unless either of us are in dire need. And we will not be so happy should you declare war on us. Sincerely King Justin of France, Provence, Milan, and French Flanders.

Balearic Islands
The inhabitants noticed the ships coming towards them not long after dawn. There was a great deal of commotion on the docks and before long, men had armed themselves and prepared for an attack. As they came within range of arrows, it was determined that they were Pisan ships. The people of this particular town having rejected paying the ransom, began to shoot arrows at the fleet. Many flaming arrows hit their target, although on board, they were quickly extinguished. Light casualties were taken; only a few sailors and soldiers struck down here and there. After a minute of stray shots from the shore, most of which missed, an opening volley of arrows was launched from the ship. Due to the irregular positions of the archers, they fell all around the town instead of being concentrated in a line, but it was to the invaders' advantage. The arrows that rained around the docks caused mass chaos and panic, with many injured or even killed. The ships sailed closer and another salvo of arrows came, signaled by a horn. Again and again, the suppressing masses of projectiles fell onto the town, sending everyone bolting for cover. A few defiant arrows still came from the buildings, but most were rough shots and fell nowhere near the ships. The ships sailed right up to the docks and hundreds of men leapt ashore to begin the wholesale slaughter. By noon, soldiers had flooded the town and were moving into the rest of the island. The settlement was riddled with arrows, bodies and blood.
