It's thoroughly absurd and yet serious at the same time.

The laws of physics are a mere suggestion that can be rewritten with enough snarky narration.

I almost feel bad for the original creator of the universe.

First martial arts and then Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Nat: Night's always in some bizarre state somewhere between "intoxicated enough to kill a hair metal lead singer" and "annoying Mormon missionary sober".

Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

We need to have an EH-wide game.

...We need to have an EH game. Seriously. Why is this not a video game?

No, I haven't, because I'm perpetually broke.

I plan to as soon as I'm not broke, though.

It's not that good, especially compared to Start of Darkness. But Durkon was sent away from the Dwarven lands because it was prophecied that he would bring destruction when he returned. They never told him this. The kobold oracle saying he'd return posthumously takes on a terrible new meaning now.

Vampire Belkar would have been awesome. Vampire Durkon will be heart-rending.

How can a stick figure webcomic that makes jokes about Dungeons & Dragons do this to us?

It didn't really offer much in the way of plot, but it's still good. I like it.

Start of Darkness is amazing, though! It paints Redcloak as a wholly sympathetic Tragic Hero and makes Xykon downright terrifying! I absolutely love it!

I just wanted to read a stick figure webcomic with jokes about Dungeons and Dragons.

It's sad because of all the characters, Durkon? The one stable member of the party? The one that's always nice? He's basically the group's Calliel, for fuck's sake. And then he just goes and dies.

Why do all the good characters have to die? D:

Most absolutely true. I liked Redcloak a lot already, but after reading SoD, he's my favourite character. Xykon's villain cred is ramped way up too. And the backstory it fills in is so satisfying, with Lirian and Dorukan, and especially Eugene Greenhilt. And Right Eye... RIGHT-EYE!

In Durkon's case, I guess it's because he can cast Raise Dead. With him gone, the stakes are so much higher for everyone else.

Yeah, Right Eye was definitely the most tragic thing that's happened in this comic, though Durkon is a close second. :(
