I agree with Hard and Nat. And not just because my character will likely end up a magic-free tank.

Well, yes, there are certain circumstances. However, I am confident in the fact that in at least quite a bit of the time, a wizard would have a major advantage. Really, what I'm trying to say here is that, yes, there are circumstances in which magic won't win out, but, really, a lot of the time, it will.

For example, Hard whined Anton kicking James's ass - really, Anton probably could have killed him in an instant if he wanted to.

That is not what I complained about, and I would have been fine with it despite the severity of the beatdown purely because James is not prepared for Anton.

What I complained about, and what set about the events leading to the taking away of my character, was the fact that Jackie did that without once consulting me on the matter or giving me any chance of a response. All I've wanted since then was an apology from Jackie for godmodding, it is only because of others sticking their noses into the business that it expanded into a debate regarding whether magic is an "I Win" button.

She did apologize - like, the second she said something.

I do suggest you drop it. You aren't doing yourself any favors.

I haven't seen it, but that may be because the OOC explodes and I just missed it. This is also the first time I've been informed that she already has.

Hard, drop the Anton thing.

I read through the discussion, am pleased people stayed mostly civil throughout.

Now, I will state my own opinion on this matter. I believe that a skilled soldier with a gun will lose, 9 out of 10, to a skilled wizard. However, and this is important, this is as of 2020.

Technology will advance rapidly by 2030 and that skilled soldier with a gun will suddenly become a far more dangerous threat than he is now.

Another point: Cultures such as Heaven, Olympus, the Hindus and Asgard have indeed advanced. However, they have not advanced in the same way humans have. Humans advanced with machines, those societies advanced with magic.

For example, I introduce you to the flying carpet. This is a perfectly suitable alternative to, say, a helicopter or a plane. Do you need protection against the elements? Boom, cast a "Rain, rain go away" spell over the carpet. So this works just as well as a plane for aero travel. Magic and technology arrived at the same result in a different method and this applies to many other aspects of life as well.

I should do a one shot with Eris since that subarc isn't happening.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

As Clarke C. Arthur from the mirrorverse said, sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.

Would someone mind giving me a recap of everything I missed in the IC so I can figure out a good time to get back into it, and so my post doesn't contradict with anything?

Of course, it's called "Avatar: The Legend of Aang" here.

It's the same thing in some parts of India as well, but I think they did it because most of the time Indians will usually copy off British TV rather than American TV. Of course, things are changing now.
