Depends really what time period we're talking. But yes, it's not all in the Balkans. Some is in Illyria/Yugoslavia.

Yugoslavia is mostly in the Balkans...and it makes up the entirety of Serbia and the other Southern Slavic nations (minus Bulgaria)

True... I will need to ensure I keep paying the pirates for it to be in their best interest to serve the crown rather than against them as for foreign nation ships, I hope not... I am giving them good deal (alliances and right to use ship) and they are quite trustworthy and nice people *looks around*

I am unsure if 55 pirate vessels working for you so quickly is reasonable. I mean, historically nations have used pirates and called them "privateers", but I don't know. It seems... fast. More over, I feel war could be a potential boon for piracy, after all, with the fleet of fighting elsewhere, it would be easier to prey of shipping lanes no?

Still, either way, hiring so many ships, building them, and then paying off pirates is quite a bit to pay. I imagine you will need to try and find a very quick conclusion to this, especially with a professional army, lest your coffers begins to empty, at which point you are looking at a much more complex war.

Yes, I will be going for one massive naval battle involving all ships on either side. If they have to be hired for longer than say a year, royal lands will need to be sold and people framed for crimes.

Sure, it's possible. But there is no evidence that anyone save the Vikings made a trans-atlantic crossing before Columbus. After all, possible does not mean probable.
