I didn't build 150 ships. I built 25 ships.
I hired 70 from player nations through agreements.
Rest of ships are ships belonging to pirates who have been promised amnesty, right to loot and salary. For one fleet, they got right to use one British port to resupply and rest for ten years.

As soon as war is over, the fleet size drops to less than 150 ships as pirates go their way and ships belonging to players go back to serving their crown.

Mhm. Pirates. Great idea. Just wait, eventually they'll find your ships vulnerable, turn on you, and then disappear. Ships from other nations...what if they turn on you? Trust is a big key to your strategy.....and it might destroy you.

True... I will need to ensure I keep paying the pirates for it to be in their best interest to serve the crown rather than against them as for foreign nation ships, I hope not... I am giving them good deal (alliances and right to use ship) and they are quite trustworthy and nice people *looks around*

Am I the only loyal Catholic nation :( ? Anyway, I was planning on invading the NPC County of Corsica, but I had trouble making an interesting Casus Belli. What do you guys think I should do? Here were some of my more interesting ones:

1. Succession Crisis. Years earlier, the Count of Corsica married a von Wenganger (the dynasty that *completely* rules Burgundia) woman in a matrilineal marriage as the Archduke of Burgundia gave him a small fortune and an alliance to protect him from his larger allies. The hope was that the count's von Wenganger heir would swear fealty to the Archduke once he inherited. The count and his bride fathered a son, Ghjuvan von Wenganger, who lived an idyllic upbringing as a Corsican.

When the count died, all was set for the now 20-year-old Ghjuvan to succeed and swear fealty to Burgundia as planned...but his uncle, the count's brother, had other ideas. Not wishing for his house to lose power and for Corsica to lose her independence, Ghjuvan's uncle Petru declares war on his nephew for control of the county with the support of some of the county's barons.

Naturally, the Archduke Franz does not want to see his family's plans fall to ruin, so he intervenes to make sure Ghjuvan succeeds and makes Corsica a Burgundian county.

2. Piracy. This one's simple enough; Burgundian merchants are continually raided by Corsican pirates who hide in the rocky shores and caves of the island once the Burgundia navy comes to clear them out. The Archduke of Burgundia repeated asks the Corsican count to get involved and rid the isle of the marauders, to no avail. Finally the Burgundians learn the pirates are actually allowed to use their native Corsica as a base as long as they pay the count a share of their spoils- a cause enough of war as any.

3. Conquest. The name explains itself; sure it's a copout, but whatever. :p

Portugal and Britain are fighting war because of Catholicism, so no you are not only loyal catholic. Portugal is there with you alongside Denmark and other nations.

...and 30 more pages to read! yay! Don't I love to read...

Anywhooo,

So I'm back from the evil clutches of IRL shizs, so would anyone mind catching me up? So that I can see if the situation is salvageable and perhaps see I could join as another country?

Well, Poland converted and Germany is catholic... so mostly yes. Britain future conversion is probably not much surprise.

For any Orthodox nations: Bulgaria is proposing that, in order to counter growing Catholic extremism and their already established control and ability to unite against their enemies, the Orthodox nations of Europe send their most holy men to Burgas (our capital) for a meeting to elect a head Patriarch to counter the Pope.

Edit: Also hoping that someone updates the map soon, so we can be sure who is and who is not an NPC.

I am unsure if 55 pirate vessels working for you so quickly is reasonable. I mean, historically nations have used pirates and called them "privateers", but I don't know. It seems... fast. More over, I feel war could be a potential boon for piracy, after all, with the fleet of fighting elsewhere, it would be easier to prey of shipping lanes no?

Still, either way, hiring so many ships, building them, and then paying off pirates is quite a bit to pay. I imagine you will need to try and find a very quick conclusion to this, especially with a professional army, lest your coffers begins to empty, at which point you are looking at a much more complex war.

Does this mean that I can bulster my fleet size with 50 pirate ships and add an extra 100 through a few deals with Norway and Denmark or any other nation that will allow it of me?

So, I take it Rohnstian Corsica is off the menu?
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

They don't call themselves Corsica IC, but I looked at their app and that's where they are. Some kind of corrupt Roman Republic-style nation.

Meh, I don't know where his app is so I can't say. At any rate, I'm getting bored of not being in a conflict. Since I wont be at odds with Portugal for a while now and I have no info on Spain atm, Corsica could be a viable target. I mean, I have had thoughts of attacking Italy, and this would only assists in such an endeavor. At the very least, it will allow me to stretch the legs of the Caliphates army's and get things moving for any future conflict, especially as I am considering annexing, the Sultanate of Tunisia soon now.
