Also, given a fourteen hour riding day and a 5mph average pace, your messenger will take over twenty days to reach Moscow on modern roads.

Given we have inferior roads/less direct transport byways in 1205, I find it reasonable to say your messenger would take over a month to reach the Kremlin.

Except, the mongols don't invade. In this time,1205, they were where the Cumans were. They stopped there for some time before sacking the west in the 1240s. In our time, we attacked the Cumans, bringing us into contact with it much earlier.
