Now Florence go back to being a little Italian Puppet and let the Big Boys expand their empires. And who ever is Vladimir-Suzdal I'm glad I'm not bordered next to you. And its only a small chunk of the HRE. Probably with a population of only 50,000, not much use for the land but farming and taxes.

Actually that was a relatively rich region, which was fought over a lot.
Untill WW2(including it), to be accurate.
It had the City of Strassbourg, which was a major commercial center.

However, they decided that with Lucca under siege, they would be able to conquer the other land. An army of 1,000 was quickly scraped together to take as much of the countryside of Tuscia as possible (that wasn't under the control of Siena that is)
Meanwhile, since Lucca was so close to Pisa, a letter was sent to Florence:
[box[Please refrain from attacking Lucca as it is within our territory. Although it it not officially ours, it is essentially under our protection and rule and attacking it is paramount to a declaration of war. Please withdraw.[/box]
