It costs much money only to build one castle(assuimg you mean a real castle and not just a wooden mott and bailey).

Building castles(again not including motts and baileys)takes time.
Unless you use tons of money it can take some good years.
And even if you do, its sure not going to be faster than 2 years(At least ive never ever heard of a castle(assumption as again) that was built in less).

In the middle ages, unless you were a merchant or noble, you wouldnt have gold or silver and only possibly(not sure) small amouts of Iron(in the form of tools).

Give me a good reason why Milan should do it, OOC resons dont count.
And just so you know, Milan and the other (north) Italian nations a couple times formed their league, the Lombard League against other nations taing them over, and as one of the main nations I dont think Milan would have any reason to invite foreign troops into itself.
Especially as the Emperor would tolerate such at thing....

I won a part of flanders closets the hre. I also own Lorriane, Luxembourg, and Burgundy. And I have Provence as my vassal. And add the biggest part of Blois, I own that as well. I conqueroed that at the very beginning just to let you know.

Where did you conquer Lorraine,Luxenbourg and Burgundy?
