Elementals: The Return of Kayarost (OOC, Semi-Open)

Elementals

This RP grew out of a story idea I've had knocking around in my head for ages, and figured what better way to try it out than as a RP on NationStates? (Aside from writing it into a proper book, making it a TV show or movie, or some other thing that would result in me actually getting paid for it)

In the beginning, before the world of mortals was born, there was a cataclysmic war in Heaven. The Loyal Host, made up of Pryastar, God of Fire, Hydrata, Goddess of Water, Terestark, God of Earth, Boaltist, God of Lightning, Veridaelia, Goddess of Nature, Froenstia, Goddess of Ice, Aewiallia, Goddess of Wind, and Ferruoston, God of Metal sided with the God of Creation, Jaehlhadon, against his traitorous and corrupted son, Tenaembra, God of Darkness, who had been banished from Heaven from trying to use the power of the Void for his own to surpass the other Gods and dominate all of creation. The War was won by the Loyal Host, but only barely. Knowing what needed to be done to stop Tenaembra from starting another war with the power of the Void, Jaehlhadon sacrificed his Divine and Perfect form to bring form and shape to the seething, chaotic, and to transform it into an orderly, peaceful universe that the Loyal Host could fill with their own creations. As a final act before this new Universe was created, Jaehlhadon created one last God: Caelstion, the Shining God of Light.

And thus the Universe was born; Terestark and Ferruoston forged the planets, Hydraton filled the basins of the rough spheres with his Water, Pryastar made boiling lakes of lava beneath the earth, and blazing balls of Fire in the space between the planets, which Caelstion lit up to ward off darkness and death from the planets. Veridaelia covered the land in lush, viridian forests brimming with life, and Aewiallia tenderly pulled the rain clouds across the skies. And once the Universe was physically formed, there was one last act of Creation the Loyal Host undertook; To create man. Taking attributes from all their Elements they combined them into two beings that walked upright the same way the Gods and Goddesses did. But Tenaembra had not accepted final defeat, and was forming his plans from his prison in the Void realm of Helle.

Tenaembra began sending his own creations to attack the world of Gaiaca that the Loyal Host, foul perversions of the Divine Elements known as Daemons. To respond this threat the Loyal Host made more men, but this time, instead of the passive qualities in the first men they had created, the Loyal Host directly poured their power into their creations, creating the first Elementals.

War between Humanity and Daemons continued on and off for thousands of years, but Tenaembra was never able to gain the upper hand in the war for millennia, so the God of Darkness changed his tactics. Turning to his cunning and treachery, instead of his Daemon hordes, the God of Darkness began slowly corrupting the mortal humans into turning against the Elementals, plunging them deep into a civil war, while Tenaembra's armies recuperated and rearmed.

After 15 years of strife the Elementals went into hiding, as they saw no point in continuing to directly try to lead and protect humanity. Soon afterwards, Tenaembra made his move, sending massive armies of Daemons down to Gaiaca to strike humanity while they were still recovering from their wars. While unable to find the hidden fortresses of the weakened Elementals, the Daemonik armies swept across the human lands, spreading fear and death wherever they went. This continued on for nearly ten years, before the Elementals returned with a vengeance, rapidly turning the tide in favour of humanity, although at terrible costs to themselves in terms of their numbers. The Elementals held the Daemons at bay for thirty years, bringing both themselves and the Daemons to the brink of extinction. The Daemon King Kayarost recovered an ancient artefact of incredible power, the Shard of Rangarok, a device that allowed the user to absorb other beings into themselves to achieve unbelievable power. Using its full power to absorb the remaining entirety of his army into himself, achieving unimaginable levels of power. With his new near-god like strength, he launched a massive attack at the capital of the United Galllian Federation, Hajametsu City. Kayarost, now ascended to Daemonic Behemoth form, left a massive trail of destruction in his wake, burning his way past the armies of the U.G.F, until he laid siege to the mighty city itself.

The Daemonic Behemoth's victory seemed assured, until he was challenged by the Grand Elemental Champion of Fire, Blazek Alsvidster. A massive battle ensued, as Blazek managed to lure away Kayarost from Hajametsu City. Incredibly, the two seemed evenly matched, but Blazek's strength was fading as he struggled to keep the monster at bay. In one final, desperate effort Blazek somehow managed to break inside the monster and destroy it, although at the cost of his own life.

With the Daemon armies slain along with Kayarost in the destruction of the Daemonic Behemoth the terrible war ended, and the remaining Elementals faded into the background again. Fifteen years have passed, during which humanity has continued to rebuild from the war, but the forces of darkness are beginning to stir once again, threatening to cast another shadow of death and despair over Gaiaca...

The United Galllian Federation (U.G.F): The superpower of Gaiaca, this massive nation spans the entire continent of Galllia, the largest continent in the world. It was created out of the various kingdoms and empires that made up the Galllian continent in the wake of the civil wars between humans and Elementals, and was where most of the conflict between the two groups occurred. Its capital city is Hajametsu City, the largest city in the world, which sprawls across an entire island. It has the most advanced technology of all the nations of Gaiaca, with muskets and cannons commonplace in its army, although swords, pikes, halberds and other melee weapons are still prevalent. The United Galllian Navy has the beginnings of a steam-powered fleet, even possessing ironclad warships, though most of its ships are still wooden sailing man-of-wars and frigates. As for civilian technology, railway lines exist between major cities and larger towns, but are slowly spreading out further into the countryside. The main modes of transportation remain carriages and walking, since railway lines and canals are both expensive, difficult or time-consuming to construct in most areas outside of major trade routes and short inter-city roads. Swift communication between government agents and military installations is possible thanks to telegraph lines, though it will be some time before this technology is available to the average citizen.
The Glorious Kingdom of Halvefor: Generally considered the second-strongest nation in Gaiaca, Halvefor is much stronger than might be expected for a nation of its size. While its army is mostly equal with the other smaller nations of Gaiaca, the real military strength of Halvefor is its impressive navy, which even manages to keep nearly technologically equal to the United Galllian Navy. The island kingdom is quite active in trading, exporting its main products like jewellery, pottery, silks and silver. Ruled by His Royal Majesty King Desphan Haljen XII, a reasonable monarch and skilled diplomat.

If you repeatedly go long periods of time without posting and don't give a decent excuse I will take control of your character to keep the RP moving along. Since I don't know most of your characters well, I'll likely end up killing them off or retconning them.

Name: Aldraniri Alsvidster
Sex: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: This, without the tattoo on his shoulder and the scarf is blue.
Element: Fire
Personality: Brash, impulsive, head-strong, fiercely loyal, and quite impatient most of the time, but on occasion he can be surprisingly level-headed and polite.
Weaknesses: Gets hungry quicker than most other people, has a massive reckless streak, lacks diplomatic tact nearly 100% of the time.
Equipment, if any: Holy Fire sword Eyilstiid, seemingly infinite access to fried chicken
Bio: The son of Blazek, the Great Elemental Champion of Fire, was orphaned by his father's sacrifice to end the Final Daemon War. His parents were separated shortly after the birth of him and his twin, although he has no memories of his mother or brother, and can only barely remember things about his biological father. He was raised by Blazek's best friend, an Earth Elemental by the name of Magnus Staokrut, growing up peacefully in Haventown. Aldraniri has grown up with an idealistic sense of right and wrong, and even without full knowledge of his fat. Gggggher's life has a passionate fascination for the once-great Elemental civilizations.
Theme Song: This.
RP Sample: I have none whatsoever, and am an utterly rubbish writer who can no el speako el Englisho. No, the rest of you don't get to use this excuse. (Except for Zark)

Name: Kroisoto
Sex: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: This, but with light blue eyes and wearing a red scarf as well.
Element: Ice
Personality: Quiet, calculating, ambitious, reserved. Normally a bit cold towards other people, but he seems to have a fondness for orphans and mothers. Beneath his cold exterior he can have a fiery temper that can be terrifying if provoked enough.
Weaknesses: His pride, losing his temper easily if someone says he looks like a woman (Most likely caused by the death of his mother). Will get absolutely furious if someone insults his mother, even in a joking manner.
Equipment, if any: Black Ice Katana, throwing knives, sketchbook, food
Bio: Kroisoto had a rough childhood, with his mother sacrificing her life when he was only five years old to save him from a ferocious monster, Barenmal. Other than that, much of his past is shrouded in mystery, due to his refusal to discuss most of it.
Theme Song (Optional): Link.
RP Sample: I am the RP sample!

Name: Rebecca Snowborn
Sex: Yes, please
Age: 19
Appearance: Link
Element: Ice
Equipment: Basic travelling gear.
Theme Song: Link

Personality: Like her element, Rebecca is a very cold person. She doesn't make friends easily, and rarely keeps the ones she does make. She's a very goal-oriented person, always focusing on getting the job done, no matter the cost. To her, the end result is all that matters and nothing more. Deep down, however, she does have a kind heart, even if it rarely shows itself.
Weaknesses: Expectedly, Rebecca is remarkably hard to get along with, some even questioning if she's really human or just some artificial construct.

Bio: Rebecca was born in the frozen north where the ice never melts even in the middle of summer. This didn't bother her. For whatever reason, she just seemed naturally resilient to cold, even more so than the others of her fishing tribe who were acclimated to the climate from generations of living there.

The girl spent much of her time away from the village, analyzing the snow and ice, learning the intricacies of their structure, because there's not much in the way of recreational activities in a frozen fishing village, and Rebecca didn't particularly like other people. The others in her village all thought she was cursed because of her odd habits and interests, which caused them to shun her as much as she shunned them. Even her own parents were uncomfortable around her. Eventually, the rest of the villagers finally convinced Rebecca's parents to exile the girl, saying that she was bringing bad luck to the village.

Giving Rebecca a simple back of supplies, they forever banished her from the village, declaring her officially deceased in their law. This didn't much phase the girl, and she began wandering south, curious about what was beyond the land of endless snow.

RP Sample: Ask your mother. She found out what I could do last night. ;)

Name: Ariel Tyraniel
Sex: Female
Age: 20
Appearance: Here
Skills: Hand-to-hand combat and acrobatics.
Personality: Usually cheerful, carefree, kind of arrogant but well-intentioned.
Weaknesses: Tends to underestimate danger. Has no way of defending herself from ranged attacks save dodging. Overestimates her own strength, and gets touchy if someone says anything about it. Also, gets hungry quickly too. :P
Equipment: Food (A lot), a rope (Because a rope always comes in handy), a water canteen and a dagger just in case. Other than that, just her clothes and a backpack where she keeps her food and the rope. When she needs them, anyway.
Bio: Ariel's lineage is one of powerful, greatly skilled warriors and fighters. In fact, many members of the Tyraniel family fought bravely on the war against the Daemons, a war that ended when she was only five years old and which sadly nearly wiped out the entire Tyraniel lineage. Ariel is one of the few people who still have Tyraniel blood running through their veins, and as such, it was little surprise that she had great skills for combat. From her youth, her father, Kain Tyraniel, a man who fought in the war, trained her in the ways of combat, teaching her everything that he knew. It was obvious to him that she was much stronger than expected. Her skill and strength only continued to grow along with her, until the point that she surpassed even her father. However, this wasn't really enough for her, as somewhere along the way she somehow gave herself the goal of becoming the strongest person in the world, and thus, she has continued training very hard to fulfill her goal. She currently lives with her father, now an old man, in Haventown, because it seems like that's where shit's going to go down.
Theme Song: No idea why, but this.
RP Sample: Lo siento, me no understand!

Name: Asuage Frostbirch
Sex: f
Age: unknown
Appearance: 'zis
Element: Nature
Personality: Calm, talkative, but speaks slowly. Friendly and empathic but somewhat distant. Rather odd. Erratic and impulsive.
Weaknesses: She has a tendency to lose track of conversations and can wander off at the oddest of times. Sometimes freaks out for no reason.
Equipment, if any: A small staff to channel her powers. Vials of magic healing water. Clothes and a bag that holds way more than it should be able to (mostly clothes, a bit of money, some useful trinkets, water, food and the like.)
Bio:
No one really knew Asuages true age, not even herself. Age altering magic had run in her family since before anyone could remember. She seemed never to have truly adopted to live in a human society for any prolonged period of time. Instead she lived in the forests and clearings, the wild fields and jungles that stretched across the continent, whose name she had long since forgotten. Long periods of time could go by before she would enter some village like a wild beast and live there for a couple odd years before the villagers would tire of her and drive her off. Most of her time was spent wandering the vast wilds of the continent, meditating and trying to become one with her deep rooted elemental powers. Many a wild tales about dark witchcraft and nymphs had been concocted by woodsmen who had spotted her from time to time. At one time she had tried to live almost a decade as a tree, not even moving from the spot and gathering energy from sunlight and the forest around her.
Quite why Asuage would choose to live like this was not something that she was keen on discussing. She was not an eremite by nature and the loneliness often pained her. The truth was that the memories of the demonic wars were still fresh in her mind. In that war so many people that she had known had been killed. Her entire family as well as the town in which she was living. In addition she could feel the pain of the land around her as if it was her own. As a result she had nearly lost her mind and had spent the next few decades desperately trying to heal both the wounds inside her, and the wounds that she could still feel just under the surface of the world. Occasionally she had surfaced in some town or village to drench her misery in alcohol and other hedonistic pursuits but this had almost always ended unsatisfactory. More than once she had been driven off by the townspeople, accused of dark witchcraft, murder or other atrocities.
When the world started to turn again Asuage could feel the pain almost immediately. She has now sworn to destroy whatever dark forces still linger in the world or die trying, perhaps born out of a desire to move on from a darker past she keeps hidden...
From the book
Annals of a forgotten past, the red volume, page 344, chapter 18, volume 411. Author Itsera Blank
-
The infamous Queen Ash of the haunted forest. The dark witch of the abandoned marshes. Matriarch of Tragask, the broken city. The kingdom formerly, presently and henceforth known as Tyrnâth (5). She ruled the area in connivance and alliance with the dark lord Kayarost between the years of 2987 EE and 3029 EE. The circumstances of her death have been greatly debated by scholars, some even claim that she did not die but defected to the other side. The evidence for this is scarce however as no mention of the queen is made in any annals after the defeat of her haunted kingdom in the autumn of 3029 EE.
Ash was known even prior to her ascent to power as the witch of the wilds. Even then she was a fierce protector of the Tasphawn forests that cover most of eastern Tyrnâth and few people dared enter them for fear of incurring her wrath. The exact circumstances of her rise to power are not well documented but what is known is that in the years prior to her sudden attack on the middle provinces the forests of Tasphawn became increasingly ominous, dangerous and gloomy. Vile creatures never before seen became increasingly common and people began to disappear in great numbers. The Queens reign was characterised by an increased political instability across all of the continent. Countless elementals were murdered and many have accused the Queen of instigating wars and other plagues that the lands went through in this period. Her reign was known by many in Tyrnâth as the dark ages, even though the years following them were characterised by the great demon wars where the dark lord Kayarost was finally slain. Her subjects were initially treated well but as time passed the monarch became increasingly disinterested in the welfare of her citizens to the point where most were treated as slaves by the crown.

Theme Song (Optional): 'zis, don't ask :p

Name: Renard Di Lluviasanta
Sex: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Here.
Element: Water.
Personality: Renard is a happy yet tranquil person. Kind, quiet, friendly.
Weaknesses: He kind of sucks at fighting. He's also sort of naive.
Equipment, if any: A lute (He keeps it on a case on his back) a couple bullshit healing syrup bottles (Health potions, keeps them hanging from his belt too), a multi-functional stick-shaped tool (Staff in the image), a water canteen, a bunch of apples, some books (He keeps all the previous items on a messenger bag) and this guy. He's basically a greedy living jelly ball. Don't ask.
Bio: Renard was born in a tribe located on a rarely traversed forest, whose inhabitants lived peacefully and cared for the nature that surrounded them. He was born on the 'night of the fox' according to the tribe, and on the night he was born a heavy rain that seemed to soothe the souls of the people of the tribe. Both of these facts gave him his name, which, according to the tribe, means "Fox of holy rain."
Since he was little, Renard was instructed in the ways of the tribe, ways of peace and tranquility. He was taught much about natural life, about herbs and animals and the forests themselves. It was evident that he was good at finding his way around in the forests, and great as a musician, and aside from that he also showed the uncanny ability to predict rain. He was also taught things like reading and writing, because oddly enough, those things were deemed important by the tribesmen. It was during this that Renard discovered that he greatly enjoyed books, and thus asked to be allowed to read the few that the tribe possessed, a request that was granted without much fuss. Thanks to this, he learned about the world beyond the forests that were his home, and this only made him grow more and more curious about it.
Eventually, on his fifteenth birthday, he was told to go and live his life. He was told to have adventures, satiate his curiosity and make bonds that would last, but to never forget where he came from and where he belonged. And with those parting words, he was allowed to leave the tribe. Overjoyed, Renard packed his things and set out into the forests, and it was during his time alone that he found an unlikely companion. Imagine his surprise when he found what seemed to be a living jelly ball! But it was even greater when he saw it absorb an apple which he had dropped. After struggling for a while, he ended up befriending the creature, and the two have travelled together ever since.
After leaving his tribe and meeting his little friend, Renard has been traveling the world, earning money with his talents with the lute, and using it to buy books and apples (Jelly guy loves apples!).
Theme Song: I'll just go with this.
RP Sample: Haha no. :D

Name: Blanchefleur "Blanche" Delacroix
Sex: You can be on top this time.
Age: 18
Appearance: Link
Element: Metal

Theme Song: Link

Personality: Blanche is very naive and innocent. She always tries to see the best in people and look at situations in a positive light. She's a kind person who always does her best to help others whenever she can.
Weaknesses: Because of her nature, Blanche is overly trusting of everyone she meets and can often times be taken advantage of. Also, she can sometimes get so swept up in completing a task or job that she ignores everything else, including her own needs. She once accidentally went two and a half days without eating or sleeping just to finish a project.

Bio: Born in the city of Galabow, Blanchefleur Delacroix lead a pretty decent life. Her family didn't have much money, but they had enough to live comfortably and send both her and her two sisters to school. The family started falling apart without his income, especially since Blanche's mother couldn't hold down a steady job. To help the family stay afloat, Blanche dropped out of school and found a job as an alchemist's apprentice.

For the next three years, she help support her mother and two sisters, quickly learning everything there was to know about alchemy. While things were still tough at home, Blanche greatly enjoyed her job and picked it up with surprising ease. Things were looking up again, but then something else happened: she began developing magical powers. Though virtually unnoticeable at first, Blanche eventually discovered that she was a metal elemental. When the master alchemist found out about this, he suggested that she leave on a journey to discover the full potential of her powers so that she could return as use them to do more good than she otherwise could by simply brewing potions. After thinking about it for a while, Blanche told her family. They were saddened by the idea of her leaving, but they agreed that it was for the best. With that, she packed some essentials and left Galabow to explore the world.

At the age of fifteen she was taken in by an old hermit living in the solitude of a dark cave, but realized her potential after growing close to the old man. Her potential was that she was an Earth elemental with exceptional capabilities.

However she still hides away from her father whom will not stop his search for his heiress by constantly hiring mercenaries, and other shady characters to search for her wherever she is suspected to be. Theme Song (Optional): Fury Sparks
RP Sample: No

Name: Amala Bahenchod Pati
Sex: Female
Age: 15, almost 16.
Appearance: Amala
Element: Lightning

Personality:

Shy, withdrawn, depressed, kind, quiet. Quite intelligent and perceptive. A dreamer of sorts. Naïve.

Weaknesses:

Open to manipulation by other people. Will be willing to sacrifice anything for a friend. Very naïve.

Equipment, if any:

A necklace that protects its wearer from small attacks, a key (no one knows what it’s for) hanging on a chain on her neck, a journal and writing supplies, a small shoulder bag with some personal necessities.

Bio:

Amala was born to two very loving parents, the youngest of a family of five. They weren’t rich, but they weren’t starving poor either. She was pretty happy in her early years; her older brother and sister were her playmates, and she went to school and learned to read and write. Her parents made sure that she didn’t starve, etc.

But there was something unusual about her. Everywhere she went, she seemed to accidentally blow something out. When there was a thunderstorm ahead, they put her out into an open field, because lightning seemed to be attracted to her for some reason and no one wanted their house on fire (this happened once; long story about that…). This made her stand out from her peers, from her community, everything.

Her parents did their best to shelter her from the evils of the world, in order to not expose her to how cruel it was. After all, she had huge dreams, and they didn’t want her to see those dreams become crushed.

One day, at the age of fifteen, she and her family were out in the field, having a picnic in a forest. They were having fun, her siblings decided to joke around with their sister… and somehow Amala became enraged enough that she summoned lightning from the sky and blew up a tree. The shards from the tree killed her family and set the forest on fire, utterly cumulating in the destruction of the whole forest.

Amala was soon found and exiled from her community, and ever since, she was left wandering, even more withdrawn than ever, and depressed because she didn’t mean to kill her loving family. She often blames herself.

Theme Song (Optional): Because I can’t think of anything better.

Bio:
Born in the quiet farming and mining village of Rosella a small area that was obscured behind the background of the religious, political, and social upheaval and the Daemon War. The village was centered around a rural administration who had free reign but was always kept in check and thus the village prospered and Branston had a relatively happy child hood and began studying the Kum, the religious text of the Wind Deity the God worshipped by the locals. He began attending temple service and learned of the deal in place to keep the officials happy. He witnessed the deal in person, the temple priests were forced to pay the tithes as taxes in order to prevent “tax collection” on the citizens. The village itself stayed out of events but the government became increasingly tyrannical as he became a disciple at the temple mainly to avoid farming and mind. Suddenly the government began taxing more and miners went on a strike, several were injured by the gunfire from the local soldiers. They fell back in line until his late teenage years. He witnessed a massive cave in in which several people were killed. The mining stopped and unemployment soared. The taxes increased heavily just as a strange figure appeared to him and offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse, to drive out the government. He accepted nonetheless realizing he was talking to a force of darkness. Years later he entered the higher up of the temple in training to become a priest, suddenly an economic crash ruined the town almost conveniently and he began aiding the poor and feeding the homeless. His anger and pride grew as he was visited more by this agent of darkness. Eventually as if on time Lung fever hit the town wiping out many and completely infuriated him. After the fever ran is course he led a ragtag group of men and women charging the government office, the attempted coup was over in hours. He was dragged before a mock court and thrown in prison. There he rotted for a month before being dragged out to a forest by a group of soldiers. In a perverted ritual with demonic runes he was tied up to a stake and set on fire. In a moment of humility he begged out loud to the wind Deity and suddenly the fire stopped. The remaining wind priest and nuns found him and carried him to a cliff monastery healing him using traditional medicine before bandaging his entire body. He lost his left eye and all of his hair and his natural skin color and adapted to his new body. He was ordained a priest and adopted the book, holy symbol, and vestment. He left and went on his way. He has visited multiple areas to spread his faith and has adopted the ironic name of the Demon priest because of his ferocity toward a group of outlaws, he is often mocked and called a freak because of his zealot behavior and has adopted the bottle as an attempt to block out the pain. He has heard rumor of a potential demonic uprising again and of a certain organization, however he believes these to be just rumors however his perspective may change soon.

He began attending temple service and learned of the deal in place to keep the officials happy. This seems nice.

I'm assuming there can't be more than one Elemental per Element? It's the impression I'm getting from Olthar calling dibs on ice and from the discussion in the Traveller's Cafe.

I'd prefer there only being one character for each Element, since the main Elemental characters would be chosen as Elemental Champions, and there's only one of those for each Element. Granted, I had an Ice Elemental character planned as well, but he's certainly not going to be as powerful with Ice as Olthar's character would be, assuming she wants her character as Grand Elemental Champion of Ice.

So... Can I actually be an Elemental of Darkness, or is that more going to be the enemy here? Bit confused on that.

EDIT: Thoroughly reading the backstory tells me "no." Alrighty then. Quickly noting my interest in lightning while I get an app up.

You mean how many non-elementals should we have? I'm not going to put a set quota for how many we need to have, if people want to be normal humans that's up to them.

Well, a pure Darkness Elemental would be very likely to directly serve Tenaembra, but it's possible that a character would use Darkness to try and fight Daemons. And Elementals who already have one of the 8 main Elements can learn Light or Darkness depending on their actions (Helping old ladies cross the street slightly raises Light affinity, burning down orphanages would increase Darkness affinity).
