Pointless. Modern lasers are only good at taking down things with really thin armor. Like missiles, mortars, etc. You would be useless in a Neuroi fight.

They had to use a Neuroi core to do so, and frankly the project ended up in disaster. I think such research would be banned. Plus when the Neuoi left there would be nothing to use as power.
