The Arena Vahalla [FANTASY/OOC]

Postby Orinon » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:41 am

Fifteen years ago, with a vicious cry and the clang of steel upon steel, Lesara, the Star's Hammer, killed Khaos, the ruler of the realm of Vahalla. As the tyrant fell dead at her feet, blood coating the shield embedded in his chest, Lesara found herself clad in armour of the boldest silver, her hammer and shield replaced by pieces the likes of which never seen before. As Khaos' brutalized corpse faded, Lesara realized that she was the ruler of the Arena, where those who perished in ways not befitting their lives, once upon a time, could earn a second chance. And as she ascended to the Blood Throne, she proclaimed that the Arena shall have this purpose once more.

The souls of these poor warriors, fighters pulled from the brink of the worlds, now gather, fifteen years later, to do battle once more. But even though the taint of Khaos has been cleansed from the Arena, death still reigns. For only two can return to life. All others will fall, cast to the sands and into the Void Beyond...

And from her throne, Lesara watches, her hand never leaving the hilt of her hammer. For in the Arena, none are safe from the call to arms....

Welcome to the Arena Vahalla. This will be (mostly) you RPers taking on whatever (and whoever) I throw at you. As you'll quickly see, THIS IS SRSLY BIZ. There is NO MAGIC, no godmode superpowers, not healing. Just your toon, their weapons, and their Blast Arts.

Should explain that, really. Blast Arts are, short version, Limit Breaks. Your character can pull them at any time, but there are costs. Tier 1 Blasts are small scale abilities, more powerful then just normally fighting. Think Cloud's Braver. Tier 2 Blasts are more powerful. THIS IS WHERE DEFENSIVE BLASTS GO. NO IFS, OR BUTS. Even Lesara's (Yes, the big cheese will be active in this RP) defensive ability goes here. If it's offensive, it's more powerful then Tier 1s, and can hit an AoE around you. Meteor Rain would be Cloud's Tier 2. Tier 3s are your character's ultimate ability. If your character has a power-up, it goes here. If your character has a room clearer, it goes here. If your character has a One-Shot Kill, it goes here. Omnislash is my example here.

The costs for using Blast Arts are as follows: Tier 1 will tire your character out for a moment, then they be right back on in. They cannot use Tier 1s more then 5 times a "match". Tier 2s will tire your character out for a short while, meaning they'll move slower, not hit as hard, and generally have a harder time for that short while. 3 times a match. Tier 3s WILL PUT YOUR CHARACTER ON THEIR ASS for a decent amount of time. Pray to your gods that my D20's let them live for the duration. Once pre match.

Weapons cost "skill points" for lack of a better word. A dagger would lost, say, 4 or 5 skill points, while something like a scythe would cost 12. The largest weapons you are allowed are Claymores (Or any other BFS for that matter), Large Polearms (Lances, Scythes) and Greataxes/hammers. The smallest are Daggers and similar weapons. Ranged weapons are allowed, but no matter what they are (short bow to crossbows) they will all cost 11 points and prevent you from using a second weapon at the same time. You CAN have a dagger with a bow, but you cannot use it and the bow at the same time.

Weapon costs : (please use your brains when it comes to sizes)
Daggers : 3 points to 5 points.
Small weapons : 4 to 6 points.
One handed weapons (Hammers, Maces, Axes, Swords, anything you can wield with one hand really) : 5 to 9 points.
Hand and a Half Swords : Static 10 points.
Katanas : 10 points (Because Katanas are cool and, for the purposes of this RP, actually count as two weapons; the blade and the sheath.)
Two handed Weapons : 11 to 15 points.
Ranged Weapons : 11 points.
Shields: 5 points.

I am willing to take ideas for weapons. Please ask before jamming them in.

Not gonna explain armour. Should be self explanatory. It affects how fast you can move, how much damage you can take, etc etc.

Stats: No spoiler tag here. You get 90 points. The skills should explain themselves. Go nuts.

For an example, here is Lesara's.

Name: Lesara, the Star's Hammer
Age at time of death: 23
Race & Gender: Halfbreed. Angel father, human mother.
Appearance (Picture or description) : Pure white hair, golden eyes. Fair skin. Stands slightly shorter then most men. Lean bodied.
Manner of Death: She was tricked by a demon, who immobilized her, then pushed her off a cliff into a rolling sea.
Weapon/s (Please keep under 15 points) : One handed war hammer (8 points), medium sized shield (5 points). Total 13.
Armor: Medium. Finely crafted chainmail and a single piece of plate on her chest. Her leggings are chainmail over leather.
Blast Arts (Short description. One of each tier) :
Tier 1: Angelrush. A seven strike assault using her hammer and shield. Total damage is 200% damage from Attack roll.
Tier 2: Grand Ward: Lesara braces herself and effectively becomes an immovable object, deflecting most attacks with her shield for a few moments. 60% base damage reduction for 3 rolls.
Tier 3: Cast Aside: Lesara rushes forward and smash aside all inbetween her and her target. When she reaches her target, she attempts to One Hit Kill them, by smashing her shield's edge into them with her hammer. This was the move that felled Khaos. Damage to secondary targets is 175% damage roll.

Short Bio (Two paragraphs MAX. Any more and I'll get bored) : Lesara's homeworld is one of wonder and horror. Humanity shares the world with both Angels and Demons, and the three races co-exist peacefully. However, great evils also lurk the land. Monsters and villains, all seeking to end the peace. Lesara, a child born of a union between a human and an angel, was gifted with the grace and beauty of an angel, and the curiosity and drive of a human. When she was seventeen, she left her hometown and joined a travelling trade caravan. It was here she learnt the ways of combat, from an old angel.

When she was 23, Lesara had become one of the greatest fighters in the land, defeating all who dared to attack her caravan with her hammer and shield. She became known as the Star's Hammer, due to her shield having a star engraved on it. However, she was one day lured away from the caravan by a demon huntsman, who led her and a trader from the caravan away from safety. Instead of the promised fish and game, the two received only death. The trader died with a knife in his ribs, and Lesara found herself at the mercy of the demon's poison talons. After he taunted her, he pushed Lesara from the cliff where they met, and she fell to her death. Only to awaken in the Arena...
Alignment (Classic D&D) : Lawful Neutral.
Stats :
HP: 19 (760)
Attack: 15
Defence: 21
Speed: 15
Technique: 20

RULES OF THE ARENA:

1) When you die, you lose the round. Your character must survive/win 7 rounds to proceed to the "finals". Here, deaths are final. This is character on character. Last two standing, win.

2)I am OP. Therefore, I am God. What I say, goes. I have D20s. I will be rolling them for all my decisions. The second you attempt to godmode or otherwise cheat, I'll RP Lesara killing your toon for real. It will not be pretty.

3)Speaking of D20s, all monsters/ enemies have set HP. I'll try to fairly come up with numbers as we go along. Be warned. Your toons won't be levelling up. The enemies, will. They'll get stronger as we get closer to the character battles.

4)Speaking of them, there are two ways to do character battles. 1: you and the other person TG each other and work to an outcome. 2: You RP, and throw the dice yourselves. I will do it if I have to.

5)The dice themselves. 2 D20s. This is where things get tricky.

Your stats are as follows.
HP is our HP stat times 20. Your defence stat also increases your HP by 5% for every point in the skill.
Attack is your damage when you hit. Attack stat times n, where n is your roll.
Your defence stat determines when and if you block. for every 2 points, the roll required to hit increases by one. Base hit roll is 5, max is 15. If your Tier 2 is defensive, this stat raises it's effectiveness by 5% for every 4 points. EG, Lesara's Grand Ward blocks 60% incoming damage. Her defence stat is 21, meaning that it is boosted by 20%, cause it to instead block 75% incoming damage. Defence also blocks damage when you are hit. 5% pre 3 points.
Speed determines who gets rolled first. Simple as that.
Technique raises your hit chance by decreasing the roll needed to hit by 1 for every 2 points. minimum 5, and also increases your damage AFTER ROLL by 2% for every 2 points. EG, if Lesara rolls a hit, and she rolls a 12. Thats 15x12 = 180. This is then increased by 20% because of her technique, equalling 216 damage per defence.

Blast Art Exhaustion Costs: All rolls lose 30% during this period. Tier 1s are 1 roll, Tier 2s are three rolls, Tier 3s lose 2 rolls and are exhausted for 3.

ONE HIT KILL SAVING THROWS: THIS SHIT IS IMPORTANT.
One Hit Kill Saving Throws happen when your toon is about to be hit by another's OHK attack. The attacker's roll is (Attack times Technique) times 1 D20 roll. The defenders is (Defence times Technique) times 1D20 roll. Highest number wins. Attacker wins, the other character bites it instantly. Defender wins, the attack is blocked, dodged or otherwise negated, and the attacker is left feeling stupid and foolish and most likely dead.
