Fable: The Maztec Chronicles

Postby Asterdan » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:31 pm

300 years have passed since the invasion of the Crawler. Albion has been without a hero for 200 years, when the Last Hero was captured by the Maztecs, a civilization of human sacraficers and warriors who seem to control Hollow Men, Balverines, and many more terrifying creatures. It is said that they took him to the Maztec version of the Tattered Spire and sacrificed him to their gods. Albion is no longer a kingdom but a constitutional monarcy, consisting of an Executive Branch, headed by the Prime Minister, a Legislative Branch, consisting of the Parliament House and the Senate, and a Judicial Branch, consisting of Nine Justices. The Senate is made up of the nobility of each region, the Parliament House of elected officials.

Theresa has foreseen a terrible force that will attack Albion, and Heroes are needed desperately once again. She has located the distant relatives of the Last Hero, and has awaken the Will within them, so they can fight the evil that is to come.

Theresa will guide these heroes on their journey to discover themselves. They will discover whether they are primarily Strength, Skill or Will users. Whether they are Pure or Corrupt, if they are fat or skinny. There will be many choices on this journey, choices that will change your appearance. Theresa is interested to see how you develop through this life.

One important thing to remember: The people of Albion have reduced the Maztecs, the Heroes, Will, even the Hobbes, Balverines and Hollow Men to mere legends. They don't even believe the stories of the Tattered Spire, which still stands off its shores.

How will you live your life?

Name: Theresa
Gender: Female
Canine Breed: N/A
Canine Name: N/A
Home Region: The Tattered Spire
Weapon of Choice: Will Spells, though she rarely uses them (she's a guide).
Specialty: Will
Bio: Born the sister of the Hero of Oakvale centuries prior the Maztec Chronicles, Theresa was kidnapped and blinded by Jack of Blades for her future-seeing dreams. She became his number two up until the Hero of Oakvale rescued her. Afterwards, she went on a long journey. She discovered the stories the Tattered Spire and made it her mission to guard it. She returned to Albion, killed Lady Fairfax and Amelia Fairfax, and jump-started Lord Lucien's quest to rebuild the Spire.

As the construction was underway, Theresa met two young descendents of the Hero of Oakvale (which now was the uninhabitable Wraithmarsh), the Hero of Bowerstone and his older sister Rose. She convinced the two to buy a magical music box, which led to Lucien killing Rose, and Theresa adopting the Hero of Bowerstone. Under her guidance, the Hero of Bowerstone killed Lord Lucien, and she took possession of the Spire for herself.

Years later, after King Logan, the oldest son of the Hero-King, the Hero of Bowerstone, returned from a trip to Aurora, where barely survived an attack by the Crawler, Theresa visited him, telling him of the future of Albion, that the Crawler would arrive and attack. It turned Logan into a tyrant. A year after, she helped to guide the Hero of Brightwall to overthrow him so Albion could be saved.

I'd like to be interested, but may I advise some changes to the plot?

First of all, can you make the cultural analogue a bit less obvious or less foreign? The cutesy part about Albion was how charmingly British yet unique it was. Blatant Aztecs jumping in isn't charmingly British. Even the desert folk were adorably cultured and not really that different. So, as my first request, I'd like the enemy advised to be more European or African pagan than Mesoamerican. Unless they're from that unspoken of missing continent. In which case... Needs more exposition.

Second, democracy? Dafuq? ..HOW!?!? I mean, there isn't even an example of functioning democracy in any of the games. Could it at least be a constitutional monarchy or something, again, more charmingly British that made the game lovable, as apposed to forcing obviously American values upon a game world based quite clearly on Britain?

Name: Johnathan 'Avo' Bannon
Gender: Male
Canine Breed: Wolf Hybrid
Canine Name: Gidget
Home Region: Albion
Weapon of Choice: Modified Clockwork Pistol to utilize his Will energy
Specialty: Will
Bio: Johnathan was born a mere twenty years ago to a pair of middle class workers, his father a gunsmith and his mother a bank teller. His family never was really that superstitious, though they did tell stories to Johnathan of the heroes of old, how they fought Jack of Blades and slayed the fabled White Balverine. How they had taken on legions of Hollow Men and laid the soul of Nostramo to rest or how the last heroes in the world became the last two kings of Albion. They were always marvelous to Johnathan and his young friends, stories of the power of will and heroes saving the world of Albion countless times. To Johnathans friends they were just that, stories but for Johnathan they became a terrifying reality. At the age of fifteen the powers of Will manifested themselves within Johnathan. He had become a Hero, finally. His father was slightly proud of his son but his mother was horrified. Her lineage had been proud Hero haters for the last twenty generations, all the way back to the Fall of the Guild. Now, her son was a Hero and one of the most rare, a Hero of the Will. She cast him out into the streets, to live alone and unloved by his family.

Thankfully, his father harbored no such ill-will (haha!) towards the Heroes, admiring them for most of his life. His final gesture of love to his son (he died a mere week after) was to craft a specially made masterpiece of engineering. For three months he toiled and then gave his son one of the greatest gifts, a pistol which required no bullets, just the ability to use the powers of the Will. The schematics had come to him in a dream and he had drawn them up especially for this one project from memory. After his fathers death Johnathan watched his fathers workshop go up in flames, the schematics for the pistol disappearing with it, in case any other Will users wanted one they would have to interrogate Johnathan to get a copy of the schematics from his memory (family trait is an eidetic memory). For five years since then, Johnathan has been roaming the countryside fighting bandits and highwaymen with a pistol that shoots literal fire or even sometimes lightning if he so chooses, styling himself as Avo, the new Hero of Will...naming himself after some long dead deity from the old stories.

Appearance: Here we are... minus that giant gauntlet, though/

I'm okay with him showing some aspects of Will before the story begins, but they will not become Heroes until Theresa 'awakens the Will within them' through dreams, please edit bio accordingly. Also, how much ya wanna bet that eventually we'll find out Theresa gave the father the schematics, she always seems to jump-start EVERYTHING :p

The Maztec will not appear in the first chapter, so there will be much more time to develop the Maztec through your help. I'll take all suggestions for them. Second, I always figured that with time, they would eventually become democratic, they were already very capitalist. A constitutional monarchy is in essence the same thing.

Alrighty to the first, but the idea of a constitutional monarchy just seems more in line with the culture. Even when there were no monarchs, ie in the first and second games, they were ruled by a quasi-aristocracy. It just seems more likely that a constitutional monarchy, in which the titles of nobility were preserved even if their power was not, would be in place as apposed to a democracy, which has no basis in the game.
