What about the orcs? Are they warhammer, warcraft, or tolkien?

I'd say Elder Scrolls.

I'd say yes.

There is initial industrialization in the bigger cities of Virsien, yes. And, much as it happened in England in the early industrial revolution, pollution and mediocre infraestructure quickly became problematic. So a rural/enviromental movement sounds perfect (especially considering my experiences reading Montesquieu).

What's composition of the government? Is it primarily composed of humans, or elves? Is there a Parliament, or a similar kind of elected body? How much power does the nobility wield? Is there a sort of divine right put in place for the head of state?

Much like pre-revolutionary France, Virsien is an absolute, centralized monarchy. The only difference is that, in this case, it is a non-egalitarian dual monarchy (one elven prince and one human king). Other than the position of King of Men and Prince of Elves, there are ministers, judges and ambassadors, who hold little to no power. There is no Parliament. Only the Estates-General exist, which give an accordingly proportionate amount of delegates, but only one vote to every sector of society (nobles, mages, clerics and commoners). The Estates-General have mostly consultative faculties. Thus, the monarchy is the executive, legistlative and judiciary branch, and everyone else is just an advisor.

The nobility holds much power, as they have been capable of preventing social reforms over the centuries, and have consistently managed to block all attempts by the monarchy to tax them. But this power is unofficial, and rests mostly on the mutual dependency between them and the monarchy. The nobility is not strong enough to overthrow a king, but it is strong enough to press him into accepting most of their proposals.

The human king does have a divine right, as he is officially considered the direct descendant and representative of the four gods of Virsien's official religion . The elven prince, on the other hand, is chosen by the several elven noble houses and, as such, is given no "divine right". This means that, while he still holds much political and military power, the elven prince is a subordinate to the king.

An attempt at an organization (because I've suddenly become enamored with Les Mis for some strange, strange, reason.)

Society of Able Travelers

A wholly urban phenomena, the Society of Able Travelers was formed out of a dire need for residential space in a city fraught with skyrocketing rent charges. Inhabiting disused and abandoned buildings inside the capitol's outlying, poverty-stricken districts, this loose collection of desperate people had eventually formed into a more cohesive community, dedicated to the destruction of the state. They govern themselves through a collective, egalitarian, democratic council, in direct opposition to the absolute authority of the Crown. Though highly politicized, the Society has yet to mobilize to any great degree, preferring instead to bid their time, waiting for the vanguard to be led by even more imperious hands than them.

The Society has an open membership that hovers around 2'000 to 8'000, and its wide racial diversity reflects this. Due to the demographics of its home neighborhoods, humans maintain a solid 3/4 majority, while other races evenly divided up the last quarter. The idealistic caucus within the collective seeks to break down the barriers between the different races, seeing them as obstacles put in place by the upper echelons of society to deter the masses from rising up as one. In reality, race is still a sizable divider within the group, and its human majority is what keeps it from attracting more non-humans to its cause, despite the group's strong rhetoric to suggest the otherwise.

The symbol of the Able Travelers Society is a pure black flag, representing a negation of statehood, property rights, and the aristocracy. As a way to sort out fellow travelers from the rest of the populace, members are tattooed with three black dots arranged in a triangle between the thumb and the index finger. On the rare occasions when the group does strike out, it targets government buildings. They favor 'mad bombing' tactics, with improvised grenades constructed out of blackpoweder and stolen factory materials being thrown into the target buildings by the dozens. Usually, the hastily produced nature of these weapons renders the attacks more a symbolic gesture than actual attempts at murder and destruction. The group's intimate knowledge of the city's narrows and sewers allow them to escape from their crime scenes easily, giving them the boldness to strike again with little fear of the consequences.

Yes.

I approve wholeheartedly, except for a small detail: There's no post-offices, police stations or rail yards. This is not 1860's England. It's 1789's France. :P

Geared Consortium

This movment rose to power as a result of the overfavortism of magic, the poor conditions of the factory workers, and the discrimnation of the Gray Elves(will add race in same post). The consortium but we that magic should not be used to rule over people but should be combined with the steel and metal of industrialization to help everyone progress better future. For this, there consolidation is made up mostly with humans, dwarves, Gray Elves with everyone having the equal 1/3 majority in having a membership of around 8,000 to 12,000. They mostly gain their support: factory workers, middle-class, various merchants, and some lower-class citizens. Their flag is usually a baclground pattern of redandwhite. The red symbols the blood that is shed in new factories over the tyrants of the magical majority, the white stands for freedom that will be paved in the future of equal use of magic and steel, a symbol is usually over the colors which consist of a Jolly Roger style the pattern that has a gear that forms the head and a staff and a gun that forms the bones which symbols equality between magic and steel. Members where a set of hand wraps with the left being white and,the right being red. Members of the consortium rarely do acts of terrorism, but rumors have said that they are preparing an army with makeshift guns and artillery fused with the Gray Elves "arcane blacksmithing"which some say that in my revolutionize the way industry works.

Gray Elves
the Gray Elves are a subset of Elven kind that have forsaken their old ways to live in industrialized cities. Because of this, many of their kind discriminate them for they are not true to the old ways, and are more humanlike than they should be. The reason why they are called Gray Elves is for their gray or alabaster skin, they do not live for thousand years like to normal ones do, they live for about 150 to 200 years and are more fertile then the ordinary types, a family of a Gray Elf usually has 5 to 8 kids. The Gray Elves usually are not allowed to handle any metalwork for many people discriminate them because everybody has the same notion that"all elves are the same" and somewhat even insult them what the term"knifeears" even though there ears are more dull and bat-like their diet mostly consist of meat and very few vegetables(but what consist of carrots), there culture is more centered around works instead of gods, they have mastered a form of metalworking with Elven magic called"arcane blacksmithing"which improves the condition of steel or anything made of steel by usin: gems, artifice, elements, or pure magic as enchantments. This form of blacksmithing can actually improve the damage of guns and artillery, but is looked down upon by mages and elves saying"that magic must be magic, and steel must be steel"thinking that does a line that is been there for centuries that should never be crossed, the Gray elves,by practicing this art have became physically stronger than the regular elves, but are less magically in tune to nature. They are not very warlike, but will defend for what is right even if it means to kill their own kind, in this way they are very defensive about any racist comments directed to the Gray Elf kind in general. Their society is structured as a clan based community, with at least five head speakers from each of the most important families in the city. They usually trade other forms and items made of their arcane blacksmithing, they also get together when marriage comes to light for a discuss to marry to do so and rarely do interracial marriages come between a Gray Elf and a human even though it is possible. When it comes to politics, they usually stay out of mind but some are changing their minds in picking sides to their culture and way of life.

I hope this actually is good enough for somebody.

Ralnis:

Bad grammar aside, it has not been settled yet whether there will be dwarves. Other than that, it sounds like a fairly decent idea.
If you substantially improve your writing and I find your idea to be coherent towards the overall context of the world, and suitable in comparison to the ideas of others, you can consider yourself owner of a reserved spot when the OOC thread is created.
Until then, I can only ask you to wait and see. :)

I've decided to change the country's name to Lyrieth, while Virsien will be the name of the capital city.

This is the Kingdom of Lyrieth's flag:
Image

This is the world of Tilra's map, with the area colored green being Lyrieth and the smaller area in white dark blue being the capital, Virsien. Another important city is the Thranenburg (marked with a small blue square), which is both the second most important sea port in the kingdom, as well as a very important military base, the city standing smack in the border between Lyrieth and the rebel nation of Yrvieth, one of the two conservative elven regions (marked in orange and red) that seceded from the Elven Lyrieth when it united itself with the Human Lyrieth.

Marked in the world map, you can see an area of an eastern continent marked with Lyrieth's color. Those are the country's overseas colonies (similar to the French colonies in North America, although their historical background will be more reminiscent of that of the Thirteen English Colonies).

Also, colored in violet, are the Blue Moonlands, the homeland of the plot-relevant NPC race called the Star-Lovers.

This is the map of the City of Virsien's districts. (Yes, we're using St. Petersburg's map :P )
Later on, we'll decide the mechanics through which each organization will be able to claim (in their apps) and annex (in the IC) the city's districts.

Lyrieth's climate is pretty much a carbon copy of France's, as is its ecosystem, give or take the enchanted forests that may be addressed late in the IC and the sort.

I'll join, it's too damn interesting. If you don't matter, I'd like to propose a possible race we can use, one I created some months ago for a Sci-Fi story I've been working on. I think it can be adaptable for medieval fantasy.

They call themselves by many different names in their many different languages, but the rest of the races populary know them as deep-dwallers or just deepers. They're a strange race, who many rumor the ancient giants forged on rock and steel and imbued with life to be their slaves. The average height is 2,20 meters and they use to be very burly. Be cause of that and their grey skin (some are more pale, almost white; and some darker, almsot black; though) they look like living stone statues. In fact, they are made with some strange stone-flesh that, though not as strong as rock itself, is stornger than common human flesh. They're bones are also more resistant than humans'. They have no hair nor nails, but use to wear armors or some kind of clothes so the rest of the people does not actually realize their baldness. The deepers' eyes are like cristal, with metalic colors such as silver, gold and even some of them have onyx eyes.
They don't ride horses, as their weight is too much, but instead use other ways of transportation. Usually walking is well for them, as they are not so much affected by cold, heat or tiredness. In some places there are animals they can ride, much stornger than common horses.
When not armoured, most of them wear some adornment such as common skin clothes or even some clothes made with wood and leafs and other forestry materials.
There is not a unified kingdom of the deepers, but instead, from the north they born in, they expanded, colonizing the south, so now there is a lot of lesser states, fortresses built under mountains, abandoned mountain-frotress colonies, and some large kingdom in mountain chains. There are even some communities cohabiting with the rest of the races. Some of their branches have abandoned under-mountain life and built similar fortresses in canyons, deep valleys and large geographical accident like waterfalls. These last groups have developed some fluvial commercial navigation.

What do you think? I know I don't write very well and could sound repetitive... Anyway, even if you don't accept, I would still be applying for this RP.

But seriously, annoying rabble aside I'd love to participate in this.

Well, feel free to post some ideas and an early draft of what your revolutionary organization would be. :)

Oh, I'm sorry, I'd much rather play a role than an organization. I don't do several people very well, just not my thing. But I'd love to help out in any way that I can!

Don't worry. As I said in a previous post, if you want to keep it single-character, you can. One man armies are accepted if they are worthy. :)
