First, Kolémeyn doesn't actually know Danica - she just kneeled and called him a Legend.

Second, Danica didn't initiate hostilities. It's her custom to wear smaller shields and her armor at all times, and she got pseudocharged before she activated the tower shield function, then put them down until they moved closer and drew swords.

Just my view of things, though.

He is distrustful, but he's trying to cow Cara and Serah slightly. As far as he's concerned, a young female admirer isn't an immediate threat.
