It produces some of the finest weapons and equipment in the world (FAMAS, Mirage fighter). If it went up against the US, China, or Russia, it would lose solely because of numbers. It would have a pretty good chance against the UK.

Yeah, the French navy isn't that great. It would really have to rely on planes from the mainland or the Charles De Gaulle to do most of the work. But, if you had one regiment of French and one of Americans with their standard equipment squaring off on flat ground without additional support, I believe that the outcome would be a draw or a close/Pyrrhic victory for either party.

Well, actually, most French made weapons that are mass-produced always turn out to have flaws in them. I believe that the BEST of the BEST would have to be Germany, America, or the UK

All weapons have flaws with them. The M4 jams frequently, with the SA80, there is an argument on the reliability of the rifle in bad weather, and the Heckler & Koch G36 is too small for missions that need a powerful round. The FAMAS (just so I'm not biased) can strip a standard NATO round from the brass casing, causing the French to currently use steel-cased ammo. The FAMAS, however, is slated to be replaced in 2013 (I will likely do so with F90- A made-for-export Australian variant of the AUG).

The AK and it's magazines are relatively heavy, allowing for only about 420 rounds compared to the 690 that an infantry man with an M16/M4 can hold.

Yes BUT for the cheapness and reliability it is the BEST
No other weapon can work in the desert when filled with sand,,no other weapon can work when it is filled with mud or any other conditions.
It is in my opinion the best gun for reliability cheapness and its role in Culture.

I agree, but it is not perfect. It is cheap and reliable (the very reason why it isn't accurate), which is why many small countries and groups use it.
