Following the end of Norwegian rule in Iceland, replaced by a Danish royal in the 14th century, extremely monopolistic and protectionist economic practice by the Danish throne led to reactionary action by the Icelandic population against the Danish throne. With the peaceful conversion of the population to Icelandic Lutheranism by the mid 16th century, the Danish crown became pacified as to Iceland's intentions regarding independence. However, the hyper-rational and nationalist ideals held by the Church of Iceland led to forceful rebellion against Danish soldiers, with the Icelandic provincial Althingi petitioning Denmark for demilitarization in the region. The unarmed Icelandics were marginally effective against the better armed but inactive and much-reduced Danish garrisons, overthrowing the Danes with Danish withdrawal when the start of the Mist Hardships in 1783 led to agricultural failure. With the new independence from Denmark, the Althingi quickly put resources using captured Danish assets into international investments and buying government credit, having no debt of their own due to their new incorporation. The small Icelandic rebel army was disbanded and turned to a group of volunteers assisting civilians in need during the serious natural disasters such as the eruption of Mount Laki, to this day one of the world's best-trained specialist emergency forces, with its capacity as a national security force never replaced.

Iceland is a small island nation next to Greenland. Having claimed its freedom from Denmark with the assimilation of Denmark into the German state, the Icelandic legislature - the Althingi (All-People's group) - formulated a new constitution, instituting a constitutional monarchy, with the first King being elected to lead the Althingi as a functional president and speaker of the house. The current head of the Althingi is theologian Asgeir Asgeirsson, first of his bloodline to run the Althingi. The Althingi is mainly made of the intellectual elite, with all three Icelandic universities holding strong sway on the Althingi, which is elected by the 6 electoral constituencies. The representatives for the three universities' respective constituencies are generally members of the university faculty or noted alumni, with Asgeirsson having graduated with honors in theology from the University of Iceland.

The Icelandic economy is mainly based on fishing and agriculture as far as goods export, with its universities being world-class and centers of research. International Icelandic financial assets, particularly in the global shipping industry, are also key in the flow of money into the nation, with relatively low tax rates leading to large quantities of money changing hands within Icelandic banking institutes, and relatively low tariffs making Iceland a surprisingly viable port of call for shipping crossing the Atlantic, particularly from Scandinavia or north/east Europe into the northern parts of north America.

If it is a dependent, however, most families will take the time to...show the dependents the right path, with words or the whip.

Those who do not achieve well in school and do not go on to tertiary education are holding their country down and must be subordinated to those who actually work for the country's benefit - they will earn their social welfare by serving the intelligentsia and the organized facilities of the Althingi and the affiliated tertiary institutions. Those who do not speak Icelandic at a native level are uneducated fools. Those who speak German as a first language and are of German descent are probably militant pro-colonialists who are anti-education and therefore anti-Althingi, therefore those who associate with them must be protected from such evil militant foreign influence. Icelandic people are scared of guns and military uniforms - they remind them of tyranny and colonialism.

View on emigration out of country (Also, how many people emigrate per year?): Traitors to the crown and country; murder-loving, violent, hateful people who are a detriment to the human race. Emigration out of the country is minimal, due to cultural stigma and high approval ratings, as well as the availability of high-income jobs in the financial sector appropriate for the education available.
