Short History of your Nation: Republico de Colombia y América Latina was founded in 1498 when nobles led by Machante Luzero who were granted fiefs from the Spanish King seceded and joined together to form a new monarchy, but with a parliament that represented the people. Machante wanted some fairness for the people they saw for so long suffer under the Spanish Crown, and try to move forward to make a better economy for the region. With great reforms The Republico became an economic powerhouse of the Americas, in the 1600s it's ports saw some of the America's greatest trade, and most importantly some of America's greatest wealth. With the Latin Civil War starting in 1864, when Latin America tried to secede from the republic, there were many bloody battles that ended with The Republico winning, even though the Latins had to pay reperations, it left a stain on the economy, and created a depression that the nation did not get out of until 1872. The economy recovered, but it will never be as great as it was before.
Short Description of your nation: The Republico de Colombia y América Latina is a tropical nation that has some of the best waters and beaches you will find, the people have the warm, open, south american spirit. We have booming tourism, shipping, coffee, and fruit industry that supplements a lot of our economy, the nation is run in a conservitate style economy with a liberal style social issues view, and results in a balanced and effective nation.

Short History of your Nation: History diverges after the invasion of the Mughals, in which the Bengali people are forcibly united under a single banner by the occupiers. This unification ended centuries of dynastic rule and feuds as well as brought about a Bengali Renaissance with the new found political freedom of the Mughal Emperors. Arts flourished as Bengal became one of the more wealthy provinces of the Mughal Empire, but relations took a turn for the worst.
As the Mughals saw Bengal as their prize, they wanted to keep it at all osts and in essence “ride the money boat” that was flowing from the province. Issues of taxation, religion, and local political corruption began to take ahold as the province broke out into full-scale rebellion against the Mughals, who at the time (1650) were slipping from power due to the rise of the Marathas. The Storming of the Authority at Dhaka is seen as the initial fuse, and the battle of Kolkatta is seen as the final blow to Mughal domination over Bengal, with the war lasting a little over 3 years.
With its new found regional power, Bengal enforced a treaty with the Mughals that promised the Bengal State (its name at the time) to have a full and unrestricted protection over all Bengali people on the Indian subcontinent. It would invoke this treaty countless times against the Mughals as reason for military invasion and conquest of places they termed as “Bengali”, despite some areas lacking a Bengal majority. Though this, they gained large tracts of land in India.
At the same time, Bengal Adventurists pushed North and East against the Tibetans and Burmese, establishing Bengali-ruled states in those regions through the period of 1750-1800, after which it began to absorb these states under its control. As the nation expanded, the Bengal State started to adopt a more pacifist stance and began to express liberal views stemming from contact and trade with Europeans. However, in 1875, a reformation took place in which the nation swung to the right of the political compass, though expressed republican views in that a unified Congress was established as well as a Statement on the Rights and Laws of Man, guaranteeing equality under Bengal law for all citizens. Through this process, United Bengal was adopted as a new name to express the unified nature of all peoples under its rule.
Currently, the nation is a semi-Westernized state with heavy secular beliefs in regards to government, but is experiencing the imperial hunger and desire for land. Militarism is rising as once peaceful people begin to call for enlargement of the Military to defend Bengal from growing threats, both externally and internally. The Raj, an elected autocrat by the Congress, is indeed becoming swept up in the national fervor too.
Short Description of your nation: A secular, industrializing nation beginning to taste imperial power.
RP example (For nations exceeding 100 million people): N/AGeneral population's view on gay rights/gay people: Open Homosexuality is rare (Sexuality in general discussion is rare as well, just a culture thing in South Asia). Bengali Law criminalizes it, but since no one talks about it, it is not a problem and people are rarely tried for it.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerance is professed by Hindu and Muslim alike, though some extremists are up and coming in Bengal. Governments’ official take is total neutrality in all religious affairs.
General population's view on atheism: Again, neutral in all religious affairs. Some Senators are agnostic or even atheist, but their belief should not affect public policy just as Islamic and Hindu beliefs do not.
General population's view on abortion: Illegal and not prevalent as the cultural norm does not view it very highly. Women are ostracized for abortions and serves as a deterrent.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Race means little. All citizens are treated equally under the Law and are recognized as persons without any regard to race, religion, creed, or affiliation.
Status of religion in politics: Government will stay out at all costs. Laws have been veto’d in the Congress for even appearing to be religiously motivated.
Any big prejudices in your nation (widespread discrimination against a particular group, linguistic conflict, etc): Language differs in the Frontiers (Tibet, Shan States) and some animosity exists between Chinese and Siamese peoples, but for the most part, all under the UB Banner settle their disputes in the Congress or High Courts.
View on immigration into country: Moderate; Chinese are discriminated in this sense and seen as a threat to Bengali jobs. It affects Siamese as well to an extent, stemming from Burmese cultural norms.
View on emigration out of country (Also, how many people emigrate per year?): Students are sent to higher learning facilities in Europe on the condition that they return to Bengal, but full scale emigration is not rampant. Around 1,000 a year. The lengthy process of attaining emigration papers is a deterrent.
