During the 1920's the Middle East was basically unheard of for Oil I thought. Plus if we are going with knowledge of oil not known in RL 1920 then there are other many areas to get oil from besides America and the Middle East that would be part of the OPEC.

Postby Parhe » Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:03 pm

Working on it...still... Updated maps in my app under territory.
Application:

NS Name: Parhe

RP Nation Name: Fourth State of Jin. More commonly Jin for short. Jin historically went by different names in its original history, primarily as the Qing Dynasty, Zhongguo, Guandongug, and Guanwaigug, when it attempted to reveal itself as one of the Chinese States of the former Ming Dynasty. However, as the Jin had become more influenced by Korean culture than Chinese culture and became decentralized the state cultivated names as Manjugug, Later Parhae, Hangug, and the Union of Northeast Asia. The last five of these are still considered acceptable names for the nation to be called.

Capital City: The national capital is Sanggyeong. Provincial capitals are Chingdao of Jina Yoseo, Xiaojing of Korchinia, Gungnae of Huatai, Yokohama of Akitsushima, Daban of Seohae Ilbon, Songshan of the Nippon Military Zone, and Ryugyong of Parhae. A Map Of My Nation.

Currency: The Mun

Total Population: 169,283,256

Languages/Linguistic breakdown:
Foreign Languages
85% Russian (143,890,853)
84% German (142,198,019)
14% English (23,699,670)
4% Spanish (6,771,334)
1% French (1,692,834)
Native Languages
97% Manchurian (164,204,855)
96% Korean (162,512,022)
51% Mandarin (86,334,512)
28% Mongolian (47,399,340)
11% Japanese (18,621,169)
A very multilingual nation, Jin is host to a dozen native languages that are officially recognized by the central government(Manchurian, Korean, Mandarin, Mongolian, Japanese, Aynu, Daur, Xibe, Evenki, Oroqen, Orok, and Nanai), as well as various migrant languages, of which only a handful the government keeps track of. While most of the native languages have been growing beyond its people, Japanese continues its rapid decline in popularity, with over three million speakers residing in the Nippon Military Zone, roughly twelve million in Akitsushima, and approximately another three million spread across the diaspora on mainland Jin.

Of the other native languages, Manchurian and Korean especially have surged in use and popularity, having since early on been forced on to conquered people for assimilation and unity. Fluency in the two languages are now required in receiving citizenship within the nation. German mean while has been widely promoted because of Prussia, from whom the Jin has mainly based its industrialization and westernization. Russian is promoted largely because oft he large part Jin's northern neighbor is perceived to play on domestic and international stages as a threat. Both Russian and German have grown at such a rate they are the third and forth most spoken languages within the kingdom.

[I already pre-made a list but except by first language I made it by percentage of population fluent in the language. If you really do want me to change it I will.]

Lingua Franca(s): Manchu, Korean, German, and Russian are the most popular languages, with over two thirds of the population fluent in all four languages.

Religious breakdown:

Buddhism: 4% [6,771,334]
Mahayana: 94% [3.75%] [6,365,054]
Theravada: 5% [0.20%] [338,567]
Vajrayana: 1% [0.04%] [67,713]

Christianity: 94% [159,126,354]
Gosindo: 94.7% [89.01%] [150,675,729]
Orthodoxy: 1.2% [1.14%] [1,913,408]
Protestantism: 4.1% [3.85%] [6,519,217]

Shamanistic/Unregistered Religions: 2% [3,385,668]
Hangyo: 2% [0.04%] [67,713]
Shintoism/Other Shamanistic Religions: 68% [1.36%] [2,302,254]
Others: 30% [0.40%] [0.60%] [1,015,701]

The first seeds of Christianity was introduced into the Jin in 1603 by way of a Korean diplomat returning from a mission to Beijing of the Ming, during which Yi Gwang-jeong became acquainted with a Jesuit missionary. After returning the diplomat started spreading the faith to many of the commoners, primarily of the northern provinces. Though originally greatly persecuted, Christianity and its followers in Joseon were a vital point and gave major support to the Jurchen-Joseon Invasion of the Ming in the 1620's while the Buddhist and Confucius dominated factions of the courts attempted coups against the government for the invasion. First declared the official religion of the Joseon state and later of the dual Joseon-Qing kingdom, Christianity evolved drastically, having no contact with Christians from the western world for over another two centuries, incorporating several aspects of traditional Korean folklore and shamanistic, the traditions and beliefs of which helped the transition to Christianity.

Ethnic group breakdown:

Balhae People: 78% [132,041,018]
Koreans/Han: 54.17% [42.25%] [71,526,619]
Manchu: 28.37% [22.13%%] [37,460,037]
Mongolian: 3.85% [3.00%] [5,083,579]
Yamato: 8.95% [6.98%] [11,817,671]
Other: 4.66% [3.64%] [6,153,112]

Other Native Peoples: 13% [22,006,836]
Japanese: 32.01% [4.16%] [7,044,388]
Ming: 35.8% [4.65%] [7,878,447]
Other: 32.19% [4.19%] [7,084,001]

Foreigners: 9% [15,235,502]
Chinese: 6.07% [0.55%] [924,795]
German: 23.5% [2.11%] [3,580,343]
Russian: 22.99% [2.07%] [3,502,642]
Other Eurasians: 39.44% [3.55%] [6,008,882]
Other: 8.00% [.72%] [1,218,900]

Land Claims: The Seafoam like nation in Manchuria. It also extends to over Japan, the Ryukyu, Korea, and parts of China Proper.
Also, you may ask "Has he had PNew Guinea and surrounding islands earlier?" and the answer will be, right now at 12/22/2012 8 PM Central US time "No". I am just adding it and hoping it will get accepted with it as a sort of colony or something as as of yet my app, besides the map here, has it shown or indicates I own it. Also, I am not yet done with my history and stuff so I am not looking to get accepted or rejected yet though feedback it welcomes.

Image

Type of Government: Single Faction, Federal monarchy, Weak Constitutional Monarchy With Loose Constitution. The nation is described at times as oppressive, in that, though relatively liberal rights are given to the people, law breaking is harshly punished. Each provinces has its own structure and is ruled by a hereditary monarch though all are subordinate to the central monarch and government. Further down there are mazes of feudal lords and nobles though officially abolished.

Leader Name: Zaitian Aisin Seon (Gonna be giving them RL Manchu names now...also gonna substitute with Korean and Western names some)

Flag:
다섯 종족의 배너/五族旗幟

Short History of your Nation:

Short Description of your nation: The Jin is a highly Christian nation, bordering on a Ecclesiocracy/Theocracy similar to the RL Vatican, although other religions are largely tolerated for the sake of immigration and growth. Regarding itself as the world most populous Christian state, the Jin attempts to set up vital ties with the nations of the western world to strengthen a unified religious identity and front. However, the nation still regards America more as a supremacist state.

Domestically relations between races, ethnicities and provinces are mixed. There is a continuous minor civil like occurring on Shikoku island that has started in the 1890's with the annexation of Shikoku. Among what were the people of Ming and Nippon there are ranging views of the Jin. While most have accepted the Jin rule and pledged allegiance to the banner sizable minorities of both group have been reluctant to officially with the Jin. Among the Ming and Han, both now considered by the state and each other as separate ethnic groups, however there remains what seems to be little option between remaining with the prosperous Jin or joining with one of the 'barbaric' Chinese states, Chinese being a term abandoned out of distaste by both groups. Otherwise, the Balhae people, which is a self identifying classification to a part, makes up a super majority within the state while dominating the nation politically and economically. With a resurgence rise of nationalism the gap between the Jin and southern neighbors has widened considerably.

RP example (For nations exceeding 100 million people): The Same Ones As Always.

Certain Cultural Aspects:
General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Just keep it in the house, the rest of us don't give a care who you would rather be attracted to.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Shintoism and the two lower branches of Buddhism are looked down upon largely for historic reasons while other Christian sect and other religions are tolerated.
General population's view on atheism: It is evil I guess. :D Atheism is well known but atheist are unheard of.
General population's view on abortion: I suppose it is along the modern lines of pro-choice between both parents, though society looks down upon abortions.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Diversity is in a way encouraged. Though views are largely negative on Shikoku Yamato and other Han Chinese outside depending on nation of origination.
Status of religion in politics: Religion, though no single one in particular, plays a large role in decisions of the government.
Any big prejudices in your nation (widespread discrimination against a particular group, linguistic conflict, etc): Does slavery count? While the native people of Jin cannot be slaves, slaves from all over the world are imported, largely as domestic servants and assistants, while immigrants also tend to bring with them slaves for various reasons. Discrimination occurs largely towards the natives of Shikoku and vice versa.
View on immigration into country: Immigration is welcomed, from certain nations. Quotas largely set a loose number of migrants allowed from different parts of the world.
View on emigration out of country (Also, how many people emigrate per year?): Emigration is almost unheard of, relative to the populace. Emigration is largely to the former colonies in South America, and the Mongolia. Yearly migrants to South America number around 46,000, migrants to Mongolia number 232,094, and other migrants number up to 34,184
