Just putting it out there, you know.
That is if you can get military equipment into French Guiana without Brazil or its allies knowing of the maneuver.

If you want to build a new fighter it's your responsibility to do the research to see how long it would take.
And clearly based on you "6 months to production model" you didn't do that research but just made up a number that would get you the plane soon.
Look at the timeframes used for this article
Given, it's not a perfect analogy since in your case your trying to develop a Gripen. But still it gives a good sense of scale for the development time it takes to develop a new fighter. Years.
So a six month period isn't realisitc. What is? As I've said, I'm not reinventing the wheel, just reproducing an existing design, and you can hardly draw a comparison between reproducing an existing design and developing something utterly new, can you?

You've admitted that you will have to develop your own engines and avionics. These are two things that Brazil has almost no experience in.

It's not a perfect analogy I know, but it's better then pulling numbers out of a hat.
If you start now, I'd say an acceptable time to have a working prototype would be mid-2015. From there production may begin at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
Thoughts?

Dunno, airliners and AWACS aircraft require a bit of avionics, and the airframes are Brazilian designed.

They build the air frames, but the avionics are handled by other nations.
