Well, to be fair, the storylines have improved dramatically compared to the earlier generations, going from simple evil crime gangs to villains with motives you can actually understand (Team Magma wanting to make more room for people to live, Cyrus wanting to create a better world, N wanting to make Pokémon happy and safe from bad people).

Oh yeah. The characters are much better. I also love the bizarreness of the characters all being named after colors. It's just so delightfully quirky.

It depends on the game. The Goldenrod Game Corner had awesome prizes and was probably the best of all the game corners. Though, some of the others were less useful. Hell, I don't think I ever actually played in the Mauville Game Corner.
