Because "I MURDER PEOPLE BECAUSE IT'S FUN!" is a valid motive for the guy who rebelled against Uriel.

"I had the best intentions" villains are common and certainly not bullshit. Why? Because that's how people actually work. A villain like Azazel isn't threatening - he's a monster, kill him off. Someone like Lucifer? Hell, that could easily be Crowley tomorrow.

I'm totally not saying this because I'm building up a quest for next arc which involves him in an important starring role. Nope. Totally not.

I think it's an unoriginal, though well-executed spin on a traditionally evil character.

As long as it's well-executed, I don't mind it being unoriginal.

Nothing is original. Getting over that is essential to writing.

Sometimes people don't have good intentions. Sometimes they just want to make people suffer, for shits and giggles, like Azazel. But instead of a complex, evil Lucifer, we get 'I fell in love and tried to help everyone', morally well-intentioned Lucifer.

Some people do horrible things and don't give a shit.

That's because they're psychopaths. Only one in a hundred or so people are.

Others do what they do because they feel it is the only way. For example, the US military. Sure, they do awful things, but for their country, right? The same thing is going through the other guy's head.

They're called "psychotic," and they make poor villains outside of slasher films.

Well EH's Lucifer at least. And he does have plenty of differences to the Lucifer in the Mormon faith, such as how EH's Lucifer is seen as giving out freedom to angels and humans, whereas the Lucifer of our faith is pretty much the total opposite of that, who had a plan for everyone to get into Heaven guaranteed by taking away all human free will. But that's enough preaching for me.

I'll be honest.

I have always found, as have many throughout the centuries, Lucifer to be a fascinating character. He's interesting. I first came to know him as Iblis, the jinn who rebelled against Allah. That shit, in my brain, was amazing. Then I came to know Lucifer as well later in life.

So while he's morally well-intentioned, I changed something in the classic stories I had been told- Iblis rebelled against God because of his contempt for humanity and Earth and belief that jinn and angels were superior.

My Lucifer rebelled because he loved them more than any character in this rp.

Right, Heath Ledger's Joker, or any other interpretation of the Joker, isn't complex.

That's why Azazel hasn't caused any character deaths and never tortured Rosalind, am rite?

...No?

He's interesting because his plans, his masks, but his basic character is still "fuck them because it's fun". And that's what makes him interesting - because that's so completely alien to us that a man can be, at his core, evil and knowingly pretend to be otherwise.

But that's stupid. It only works when enough time has passed for it to be unexpected because it makes no sense.

Joker does have his complexity. It's just not purely about him. He shares complexity with Batman in the form of their unique relationship. In his own way, Joker is the deepest of all of Batman's villains, and they have all been effectively psychoanalyzed with how much detail they've been given.

You already killed Neil and Jade, so...

At the same time, you can't just crush the vimana and kill them all.

It depends on your plans and if you think they're any good.
