Vehemia, I'm glad I worked out the maths for buying an aircraft carrier. The GPB to the dollar in 1950 means that for 90 Million USD I could have bought 15 British carriers. And charging 90 Mil for a carrier that's not even been modernized is a bit harsh :(

Sorry about that, my numbers were all screwed. Midway class were 85 million each so considering the age and size difference of the Essex I'd say 20 million would be reasonable.

Well, seeing that in the 1950's $3 was about £1, I'm still buying one carrier for the price of three (as AFAIK the rough cost of the post-1941 British carriers was ~£2 million odd). That said, the Essex class were pretty good ships, and dare I say better than their British counter-parts in terms of plane capacity.

So do me a favour and reward me for buying American :p
