As well as being barred from making subprime loans and forced to do diligent underwriting. This because the Crown is going to guarantee deposits to a certain amount.
I think the merchant bankers will get lots of business. Ha!youll be forced to lower your interest rates in order to compete.

Brief Description of House:
House Bortos is an ancient House, which can trace back its lineage to King Therrod, also known as the Gryphon King, who had carved himself a kingdom in the Razorbeak Mountains thousands of years ago during the Age of Darkness. According to the legends, Therrod found himself facing a dilemma when his last enemies retreated to their castles and fortresses on the peaks of the mountains. Besieging those castles would cost thousands of lives, and Therrod refused to send his men to the slaughterhouse. So instead, he boldly sought out the legendary gryphon Razorbeak, whose name the mountain range bears to this day, in his cave on the highest peak in the mountains. They fought for three days and nights until finally Razorbeak recognised Therrod as his superior. Therrod departed from the peak on Razorbeak's back, and the legendary gryphon's flock followed. Therrod returned to his army, and trained a squadron of knights to ride the gryphons. Together with his gryphon lancers he then assaulted the final strongholds of his enemies, and conquered them within a day. Therrod was proclaimed King, and he adopted the gryphon as his sigil.
Many generations later, Vedrion the Great arrived in the Razorbeak Mountains with his host. King Tristan and his army awaited him in the Featherly Pass. Tristan, in the spirit of his ancestor Therrod, offered Vedrion to decide the outcome of the battle via single combat, sparing the lives of their men. Vedrion agreed, and the two men supposedly fought for hours. They inflicted several severe wounds upon one another until finally Tristan's body could no longer bear them, and he fell from his gryphon onto the ground. True to his word, Tristan awaited his fate at the hands of Vedrion. Vedrion decided that he would need a strong lord to rule the wild Razorbeak Mountains, and so offered Tristan that he would spare his people if Tristan were to continue his rulership over the mountains, not as a king but as a vassal. Tristan bend the knee on the spot, and House Bortos has been loyal to the crown ever since.
Head of House:
Lord Edwyn (male, fifty-two years old), of the blood of the Gryphon King, Lord of the Razorbeak Mountains.
Nobility Ranking:
Lord
Brief Description of Head of House:
Lord Edwyn is considered a relatively weak ruler according to the harsh men of the south. Whereas former Bortos lords favored single combat to resolve conflicts, Lord Edwyn prefers words. He has been compared to the soft lords of the north. He appears old and is rarely seen in armor. He is a careful and intelligent man, but also uncertain and indecisive. Though he supplied men to fight the desert tribes, he did no more than that and has decided to keep out of the current conflict between the crown and the rebels, much to the anger and frustration of numerous of his noblemen, including his oldest son.
Relevant House Members:
Ser Yeror (male, twenty-two years old), oldest son of Lord Edwyn, Heir of the Razorbeak Mountains and Commander of the Featherly Pass. Lady Erylia (female, twenty-one years old), Yeror's younger sister. Ser Dowan (male, nineteen years old), Erylia's younger brother and Castellan of Veryos.
Brief Description of other most relevant House Members:
Yeror and Dowan are complete opposites. Whereas Dowan takes to his father, Yeror is much more straight-forward and favors the style of ruling of his ancient ancestors. Yeror is a competent knight and a proven commander, having lead armies against the desert wildlings numerous times including during the Battle of Ahkour. Many of his father's bannermen favor him over his father. Despite their differences and arguments, Yeror loves both his father and his younger brother with all his heart, as they do in return. Lady Erylia grew up constantly having to stop fights between Yeror and Dowan, which turned her into a bold and motherly little lady. All three of them are healthy and handsome to varying degrees, though Yeror sports several scars beneath his clothes and armor. Their mother died several years after Dowan's birth when she fell from the large balcony of Veryos. To this day nobody knows whether it was an accident, or something else entirely...
Name of the Land they rule over:
The Razorbeak Mountains
Geography:
Mountains and vales, peaks and rivers.
RP sample:
Check my signature for The Fall of Gods. You can also search for The Swords of Amakesh, which was a short-lived fantasy roleplay OP'd by me.
Notes:
Bortos men prefer to fight with lances and maces. They are a proud and strong people, and though their roots lay with the desert wildlings of the south, they feel nothing but contempt for them. Though the mythical gryphons were supposedly extinct several hundreds of years ago, the people of the Razorbeak Mountains still revere them and King Therrod for their strength and courage. Ser Yeror knows both of the royal princes well and considers them his friends. However, his father refused him permission to gather a host and aid prince Jestrion in the north. Ser Yeror has been sulking ever since, and even though his siblings have thus far managed to talk him out of defying their father and marching north, Yeror grows ever bolder during his arguments with his father.

Then you have all these succession crisis's happening I think the Kingdom's stability has plummeted which isn't good for the economy. I'm curious when the lower classes will get tired of the noble ruining their life's and rise up in small revolts. This role play could be turned into a Tv Show.

Also, would it be alright if I did cognatic succession instead of the regular ag-cog?

I like. Only there are written accounts of Vedrion's Conquest and its a well remembered time in history. Remove King Tristan riding a griffon in his duel with Vedrion. After that, accepted.

Is that possible or would that be to much? Its just a ideal I had and noticed someone wanted to role play as pirates or something so thought I would suggest this ideal.

Certainly. Send a letter to "Akbar the Black", Pirate Lord of Salak and some ships that look conspicuously like Palaeosian Shebeks but flies pirate banners will be seizing whatever they are paid to seize.
If you want the merchant fleet returned you had however better hope the ships are considered subpar by the picky Palaeosian Sealords, or make sure not to pay the entire price up front.Damak Var wrote:Actually i dont know if i can do that. In the middle ages? They didn't really care for liquidity, subprime loans etc etc. They didn't even have double-entry bookkeeping before the Medici's. The letter of credits issued by the Knight Templars was probably the most sophisticated in medieval banking.

The Church is the primary banking institution in Derria so no usury laws. It's very rich and that's where a lot of its income comes from.
