Oh, he's keeping his decisions to himself, and it has yet come to pass after all. He'll only begin thinking about betraying Nysander AFTER he fails to reach Jestrion, which (in hindsight) I can see him doing purposefully that way Jestrion does fall.

Jestrion is not going to lose the final battle of phase 2.

Der Kaiser has asked me to explain why the rebels would not lose more men during the course of my proposed plot.

As of now the alignment is as follows:

Rebels: Kazanowski (20900), Thorn (18500), Rhynarion (3500)
Loyalists: Wallstryn (34800), Velun (23000), Delacroix (11400) , Helyanwe (27250) , Clyfton (12000, San Monteriano has not posted in a while so I dont know if we can rely on him), Aurenstein (7800), Dreys (2000)
Neutral: Bathel (unknown, schner never turned in a military overview)

*Note, this accounts for the casualties taken at Krieger's Pass

As it stands the loyalists vastly outnumber the rebels. Rebel total: 42900, Loyalist total: 145250

Now over the course of Jestrion's campaign leading up his final battle, the Wallstryn contingent of his army now numbering 10800 men will be reduced to 7000 men before the final battle of this phase where they will probably lose around 500. The 5400 Delacroix troops will probably leave the army and go back to Firania once they find out the Wallstryns are Spirit Worshipers along with withdrawing the entirety of their support, including their fleet of some 100+ ships. The Aurenstein's will probably jump ship at the first opportunity taking their 1800 men with them.

The failed siege of the 10,000 strong at Folkport about to set sail will take losses. That army has 1000 Aurenstein troops, 2000 Drey, and 7000 Wallstryn. I will lose 3000 here (Wallstryn only).

So total Wallstryn losses:7300 from battle. A large portion of the 14,000 Wallstryn troops that will be left over at Ferndale will go home, say 1/3 because of the Spirit Worship thing. So another 4667 round that up to 5000, will go home. These troops would be unrecoverable. So total of 12300.

Now the Spirit Worship reveal will result in a change of allegiances most like which will be the biggest blow to the loyalist cause. Delacroix will either go neutral or join the rebels. So will Velun (that's what new lowlands said would happen). The Aurensteins will most likely take the opportunity to go neutral themselves. I think the Clyftons and Helyanwe's will remain loyal.

So here are the two most likely new alignments...

Rebels: Kazanowski, Delacroix, Thorn, Velun, Rhynarion
Loyalists: Wallstryn (23000), Helyanwe, Clyfton
Neutral: Bathel, Aurenstein, Drey

or

Rebels: Kazanowski, Thorn
Loyalists: Wallstryn, Helyanwe, Clyfton
Neutral: Bathel, Velun, Delacroix, Aurenstein, Drey

I think the 1st is most likely. With that set up, the Loyalist faction will have: 62300. Lets say with the "great battle" and the failed siege the Kazanowskis, Rhynarions, and Thorns combined suffer about the same amount as I, 12000 (at least 10000 of that will be lost in the final battle of this phase). I estimate the total rebel force (accounting for an arbitrary amount losses in the Delacroix troops) to number around 62400 after this new alignment. It'll be around this alignment for a while but will probably switch again.

This is just an estimate of how the RP will go down. If not, we can always make tweaks to the numbers as we go on. Like how many loyalists forces go home because of the Spirit Worship thing.

These were kind of my predictions on how things go. Clyfton is now Hubleris, Delacroix is now Illionae-Aenaea.

I don't know yet. I'd like to give the new players what freedom I can. So just tell me but most like the Veluns will go rebel. Or maybe a split where Mikael takes a good portion of House Velun's forces and goes rebel.

As for the duels I guess we have...

Mikhail: Champion of several tournaments. Probably a really good fighter.
Drogodar: Excellent commander for House Kazanowski's forces. Tough veteran of many battles. Has a grotesque scar.

House Mikael will take most Velun's forces over to the rebels but Lord Nysander will have some forces of his own that go the way of the loyalists.

Also, if I could have any information relevant to Ferndale would be greatly appreciated. Size, population, etc.

Damak Var wrote:We can do that too. The battles are predetermined because in my experience there just ends up to be a whole bunch of disagreements when you try to RP out a battle normally without a set ending. Just doesn't work.

I was thinking about doing an RP where we play each other online on medieval total war 2 for those who have the game and that determines the outcomes for the RP. But that isn't fair because I'll destroy anybody.

The method I usually prefer to resolve the problem that comes with non predetermines battles is by having all players in an RP examine the military action taken by each side and state what they think is the sensible outcome. So if someone orders a cavalry charge across a swamp towards a hill crawling with enemy long-bowmen and then claim to have taken negligible casualties people call it out. With ongoing OOC discussion about dodgy moves and respectful and sensible players that, I think, is the ideal way to do things.

As for using total war I am sorry but no way. Not only do I not have that game but this is an RP'ing not a video game.

Damak Var wrote:Actually I'd like to hear from Quendi and Arbarlorn. What side would you guys eventually want to be on, loyalist or rebel? Or maybe something else?

Count Aemoriel (who if anyone was in doubt by my first post is the one running Palaeosia) is mostly occupied with securing that there is no internal Palaeosian opposition to the rule of his family and would prefer to stay out of potentially destabilizing conflicts outside Palaeosia. On a personal level he desires for Palaeosia to become an independent country and if he believes that the rebels can assure that he may be willing to do that. He is however cautious about being disloyal and would probably not defect unless he was fairly certain of victory.

Whether the Wallstryn's are spirit worshipers or not probably wouldn't interest the Aenaeans the slightest. It is possible that Count Aemoriel, being a secret pagan himself, may even consider that a good thing. My troops in the Royal Army would, if no one objects, desert the Royal Army due to the homeland rivalries between the commander, Roland Delacroix, and the Aenaeans prompting the former to return home to secure his own power.

Quendi, I'm ok with your plan. But your troops are going to leave during the march. I believe your house has some 6k troops with Jestrion right now. I also was not joking about the MTW2 thing. I might actually try another RP with that but I certainly will not do it here.

So, we have...

High Magister
Marshal of Derria
Chamberlains
Silver Guardsmen

that are all open.

Yeah but I'm not just going to let anybody take a position in the Court now. Not with a civil war and all this mistrust going on. The last High Magister (Mikhail) is now in open rebellion. So I made it so applicants have to speak with me first.

Well at some point I would like Firania to be named Palaeosia but it can wait till I have the city names done as well.

Also I has been thinking about what is the scale of the map? And is there any limits on the population sizes of my cities proportional to other people's cities and fortresses?

I'm not sure about the scale. We kinda just left that arbitrary and that works well enough. As for city sizes, Avantine is the largest/most populous city in Derria. I'd put it around 400k. So work around that I guess.

You wouldn't have a plethora of large cities either (2-3).

Why not appoint Kaspar to be a Silver Guardsman? What is the worst that could happen as a result of his divided loyalties? He opens the gates of Avantine and permits the armies of Ser Drogodar Darksmile to sack the city? He personally murders the Krazy King? He steals all the chex mix at the royal banquets? Alright. I am willing to concede that the last point might be one reason not to appoint him...

No way I'm appointing a bannerman of a rebel house. But Kaspar may just fit right in. Silver Guards are forbidden to marry or father children. You aren't allowed to sheathe your sword and seeing how fond Kaspar already is of polishing his lance.... :p
