Breathing hard, the girl cowers in the darkest corner of a dank cellar, nestled in the small crevice between two storage racks. In Egypt, she had fled the promise of oppression and destitution under the reign of a pair of would-be conquerors, who had already driven out her beloved Bey of thirteen years - the only leader she had known since childhood, and who had run the nation with efficiency and virtue2. She had only just begun to settle down in Arabia before Muhammad ibn Saud joined forces with Muhammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab, transforming the entire region into a theocratic monarchy practically overnight. Feeling no love for Allah, the young woman decided to try her luck in Europe, rather than passing through the equally fanatic theocracy of Persia. Unfortunately, it seems, her luck is soon to run out.
Two weeks ago, under cover of darkness, the woman crossed the border into Anatolia and, unbeknownst to her, fell under the watchful eye of an immortal. Day and night he watched over the woman, even when no other being cared to lay eyes on her. To most, she was an anonymous woman, rarely speaking more than absolutely necessary, and rarer still divulging personal information. Few who encountered the woman ever even learned her name, let alone her origin or story. That story, however, was about to gain a whole new chapter.
The previous evening, the woman had noticed a particular face in the crowd; a face that she had caught the occasional glimpse of once or twice before, but had failed to realise its owner's interest in her. This time was different - he was unmistakably watching her. Unnerved, the girl finished her business quickly and began to make for the inn she was staying at, but soon realised she was being stalked by the figure. Wasting no time to even retrieve her few possessions, the girl had sought to leave the city immediately. Night and day she travelled, not stopping to eat or rest.
Even now, though, she can feel him moving ever closer. Those dark eyes, made harder by the contrast with his pale skin, search the cellar for their prey. The girl hopes her dark robes will be enough to hide her, but every part of her knows this is a futile effort. Her frightened breathing is deafening in her own ears, and she is certain that her assailant can hear it. He does not seem to breathe, nor does he speak, nor do his footfalls make any sound whatsoever. If she believed in such things, the girl might think him a ghost - a vengeful spirit come to take her life for some unknown wrong.
Ghost he is not, however, as she comes to realise all too soon. She begins weeping as he comes to within twenty paces of her dark corner... Fifteen... Ten... Suddenly, as if transported through some dark magick, he appears directly before her, his dark eyes shining over his even darker smile. The girl gasps as he grips her by the throat with one hand and lifts her at arm's length over his head, seemingly wasting little effort in the task. Her eyes widen with surprise and terror, then closes as she silently contemplates her short life.
"No," the man whispers, his accent thick and European, and speaking a language the woman does not understand, yet the message is clear. "You will not die tonight, child. Rather, the opposite. I come to bring you not death, but everlasting life." These last last words the girl does not even hear as she slips into unconsciousness, even as the vampire's fangs slip neatly into her skin...

Name: لَيلَ (Leila), سُرٰ (Suraa), or اسرَ (Asra) (meaning 'born at night', or 'travel by night'; haven't decided which, but I'm leaning toward 1 or 3)
Species: Vampire
Age: 23 when turned, 291 years ago (born 1721)
Sex: Female
Appearance: Her skin is the colour of cinnamon, her eyes almost black, but flecked with gold. She is rather petite, standing only 158cm (~5'2") and weighing 51kg (~112lbs). She is, of course, rather strong for her size, and takes no small amount of pleasure in seducing and surprising mortal men and women with her petite frame and love of rough sex.1
When not on official business, she is often covered in black robes from head to toe, only her eyes, painted in a
traditional Egyptian style, visible between her hijab and veil. When mobility and undeniable presence of authority is required, however, a striking change in her wardrobe is made. For this she wears black latex pants slipped into suede knee-high boots, topped by a black leather corset with an embroidery of crimson rose petals and blood-red satin gloves that reach her elbows.
Equipment: Even when travelling as a civilian, she keeps no fewer than three fine silver throwing daggers hidden within her robes. Dressed to kill, her armament increases accordingly; she keeps a small belt around each thigh containing seven daggers apiece, and a pair of revolvers (substitute bear motif for bats, and the ivory bits are red), one on each hip, and loaded with six shots of Lycan-killing fury.
Powers: Ward allows her to deflect attacks by throwing up a small 'shield' of psychic energy to stop physical matter in its tracks. The larger the footprint, though, the harder it is to block the attack (in other words, it's easier to stop a bullet than a boulder). She has to be able to see, or at least sense, the attack before it is made - bullets travel faster than sound, so if someone shot her from behind and she never knew they were there, she would be defenceless. In an active combat situation, however, she can easily block the projectiles.
Aura Sense allows her to sense the spiritual or psychic energy of Humans, Lycans, Vampires, and animals. This ability does not rely on any other sense - she could sense a cat approaching from behind, though she may not hear or see it. This ability also acts as a 'sense motive' type skill; she can understand one's basic intentions or whether they are lying. The passive range of her Sense is only ten metres - any further and she could go mad reading everybody around her. So if you shoot her from behind within this range, she could use Ward to deflect the shot. If she concentrates, she can extend the range in a diminishing arc up to one hundred metres in a 36° arc.
Personality: Very much a split one. In conservative dress, she has a personality to match; very quiet and reserved, generally speaking only when spoken to, and then only if she feels she has something to contribute. In latex and leather, however, she is far more outgoing - not afraid to speak her mind, regardless of the consequences, and showing just how little she tolerates incompetence, even in fellow vampires.
Bio: Will fill this out later, but she fled Egypt to Arabia in 1743 after Ibrahim and Ridwan Bey took over, then fled the Arabian peninsula towards Europe during the rise of Wahhabism and was turned shortly after. RP sample will be included here in my traditional style, but if you prefer links, see the sig (Salem is still active, but Steel may be dead; Will add another Vampire RP if it actually gets off the ground...).
1 I doubt this bit of character trivia will come into play in the course of the RP, but it is a part of the Character as designed.

Probably have a brief description of the city, and something about finishing off a shattered Vampire coven whilst some human organizations go around trying to quarantine the city at the same time.

You could just start off in a city or something, fuckin' shit up.
Maybe some paramilitary organisation's doing a quarantine, and is trying to flush out the vamps in your area, and so they might get hurt for doing something like that. You could be hunting some Lycans in the suburbs, or something.
Lots of things you could do.

It's supposed to be in the aftermath of the film of the same name, so it would involve a lot of Lycans and and Vampires trying to gain an edge over each other, thus becoming the dominant species. Lots of fighting, obviously, and in the film, the gambit to make Lycans nearly unstoppable failed miserably. And the one guy who had been injected with enough of that stuff to make him powerful, ended up exploding thanks to a silver nitrate grenade, and an arrogant personality.
More or less how it went:
"I heal, Instantly!" (Self-satisfied smirk from Quint.)
"I was counting on it." Comes the reply from Selene, shortly after which Quint freaks out and kabooms.New Roman Empire wrote:Hey Videssos, mind if I start to hunt your guy down?
You can try, but of course, you won't suceed!

You can do canon characters, or original characters.
Your choice. Provided that they (the canon character) lived past the last film, of course. Namely the film after which the RP is named; the fourth film of the series.
