Note: This is the first RP I am hosting so if I do something wrong or you have a suggestion please fill free to inform me of this.
I don't know how many people are as nestalgic as I am (Im sort of a Tom Paris) but I'm about to find out.
Here is what I had inmind but I would like people to give their impute as well. Make the RP funner that way.
The game takes place in an alternate world set in the year 1989, the turn of the century!
In this timeline the following events occured;
1895-1897 : Earth is invaded by Martian Tripods (War of the Worlds by HG Wells). The Invaders die from the common cold, man, using Martian technology gains flight (Aeroplanes).
1914 : War in Europe which ends with the formation of a International League of Nations.
1933 - 1941 : Another War in Europe.
1951 : Earth is united into a Federal Republic based off the American system of government.
1962 : Mans first lunar landing inwhich a race of insectoids were descoved who had plans to colonize earth, Earth Colonials have seen no sights of them since they retreated back under the Lunar Surface.
1964 : Earth attempts to make deplomatic contact with the Martians but recieve no reply.
1971 : Earth sends an investigation team to Mars only for the rocket to be shot down.
1976 : 2nd Martian Invasion is repelled.
1980 : Mars is declared a no-fly zone by the Federal Republic of Earth.
1983 : The Planet Threa is descoved on the opossite end of Earths orbit, no contact is reportably made.
1986 : Earth invaded by Threan Forces of monsters and mechanical men who were aided by Chemical Warfare.
1987 : Earth creates a United Star Patrol to protect agianst invasion as well as to protect colonial interest on the Moon.
1989 : Earth sends expeditions to towards Threa, Pluto, and Venus. This is were the adventure begins. Your are a member of one of these three expeditions. I shall be playing the role of various NPCs with in the game. I shall need three players to volunteer as Captians of these expeditions. Your character can come from any nation on Earth (Including the USSR), feel free to design your own ships as well or use images from old style sci-fi.
Notes:
- USSR is still around, tensions between the USSR and USA have deminished over the years.
- The Federal Republic of Earth provides all the liberties granted by the American Government.
- Rockets are widly used.
- China is still the Republic of China.
- Only three ships max per expedition.
Mission Objectives:
Plutonian - Record data on the ice of pluto, find out who or what is sending strange radio signals to Earth.
Venusian - Be the first crew to sucessfully land on the surface, Analyse Venus's capacity as a colonial world, leave the surface of planet to transmit data.
Thean - Make peaceful contact with Threan powers, negotiate an official end to the war, record all one can on the world and it's people.

- Latter in thread I may offer other options for characters to arise as the story sees fit.
