Mmm, yes, that may prove to be a problem, but I have confidence in Australia's intentions and honor. An ally all the way in Europe, or two allies practically within spitting distance? Still, could be interesting. We'll see.

I thought that would come up. In the event of a war, which hopefully it won't get to, or extreme diplomatic posturing, then China would simply close the city, revoking the European lease. Worst-case scenario, of course---just throwing that out there. War is not welcome.

its not quite as simple. we bulldosed that old city area and built a new one.

I am aware of that, yes. If we needed to revoke the lease, there would be little the people in the city could do about it. The wall we built around the city (Khovdor or something similar, I believe?) in the past RP is still there, cannons and all. Should we need to reclaim the city by force, we have defensive positions, cannons, and the Home Guard of the Chinese army, more than sufficient to reclaim the city. It'd be painful and annoying, and not very good, but we could do that.

But rather than focusing on the bad, why not focus on avoiding such situations? Diplomatic posturing and thinly-veiled allusions to plans and plots, all the while influencing other nations, are so much better than all-out war.

The concept of the JAL is still new, which is why China is trying to figure out how things will work (both IC and OOC). Should a situation/solution appear to work, it then takes it to the other two nations, where it can then be edited and changed further. Besides, the first formal assembly of the JAL will take place soon, which will then lead to a better bureaucracy to deal with that.

Not your decision. Australia has indicated a desire to join the JAL; we invited him; he accepted. As far as I am concerned, he's an Asiatic nation, a member of the JAL, etc, etc, etc.

I think he means the internal strife/death of your heirs. Although, as a side point to Mideonan and Sicilian Empires----look at how a European nation is treated in a moment of weakness---their friends become piranhas, seeking to rip them to shreds. In Asia, such a thing does not occur; rather, every nation is treated with dignity and respect. /propaganda

But uhm, an alliance with China? Not sure how that'd help you, although I am open to suggestions. A trade agreement, sure. Aide and other such things, sure. Military help......less sure.
