Ceril took Rachelle downstairs and accessed the bomb shelter. He set the girl in her bed.

"Goodnight, Widget," he kissed her. "I'm sorry about your father. He'll return soon."

He went to his room and closed the door. He'd physically hurt Naomi and also made a decision that would affect Rachelle. He directed his anger where it belonged - himself.
