Take to the skies(IC)

Postby The United Soviet Socialist Republic » Mon Oct 08, 2012 6:22 pm

It was a cold and gloomy day over the nations of Europe, as the Great War rages on into 1917 and the Allies battle the Central Powers for dominance of Europe. The Western Front had turned to static trench warfare, while the Eastern Front had little trench warfare. There were ground victories on both sides, but the most widely published combat was in the air. Ace pilots filled the newspapers of all nations, fought major air battles, and inspired hope in their nations. Although the plane was invented less than a decade before, already it was a deadly weapon. In Germany, ace from 1915 Wilhelm Von Kaiser flew above the Western Front with a small squadron of fellow pilots he called his circle of aces, as they always flew in somthing similar to a circle. They got ready for another day of patrols over Belgium as offensives and defensives continued on the ground.

Brynhildr softly and easily cut through the rough air above the western front next to ace German ace Wilhelm Von Kaiser. The man had been famed in 1915 for becoming one of the well known pilots, but this man was not alone in the skies above the western front. Johann Jakob Von Ludwussen was an ace pilot, but was only known for nine kills in the dangerous air, but to some men that was something to strive for. Even though Johann was twenty four, he was known for his brutality against enemy pilots but was also known for letting a enemy pilot go if he had proved his worth to Johann. As Johann looked around at the surrounding skies he looked at the circle of aces which was a squadron of planes that consisted of skilled pilots, the squadron was so gloriously named by Wilhelm Von Kaiser. After taking in his surroundings, Johann pushed his throttle forward and flew the tri-plane next to Wilhelm and gave the man an unamused look. "I haven't spotted any enemy planes yet." Johann mouthed as he fixed his goggles and gave another quick look at the skies before looking back at his squad mate and waiting for a response.

OOC: Sorry for the one paragraph. When we get into a fight i'll start posting more.

Wilhelm Von Kaiser was terrific at training his pilots, and indidvidually trained all of his squad mates. Most of his colluges were ace pilots like him, his words of wisdom to his men were always "Aim carefully, but always look behind you to make sure you dont get shot down before you can shoot. When their in your sight, fire away, but never focus on a kill, we are sportsmen not murderers.". When he noticed an enemy plane he signalled his circle of it and they pulled up then dived down at the planes slightly below and a few hundred yards away. They moved towards their targets slowly moving out of their circle and each picking a target to shoot. Von Kaiser had an observer plane with him, he always did so his kills could be official.

OOC:No prob. 1-3 paragrapghs is fine. Quality makes a post, not length.

British Empire,Royal Flying Corps
Per ardua ad astra
Through adversity to the stars

Squadron Leader Edward Von Neckel,Pilot of Her Majesty's Royal Airforce

It was a typical day in RFC base Northolt,in London County

Somehow,it was gloomier and cloudier than usual, despite this, many aircraft flew in and out of the air field,to and from London

Ever since the Zeppelin Raids months ago,the RFC had drastically upped it's patrols in London and the surrounding areas.

Pilots fly all around the area, making sure those tricky Germans don't try to pull another fast one

One of those pilots being Squadron Leader Edward Von Neckel,German born,he had defected to the British Empire after the untimely death of his parents in the sinking of the HMS Titanic in 1912.Ironically,he had visited Britain so many times as a child, but when he moved into the London area in 1912,he felt like a complete stranger.Edward is very fluent in English, and even has his own version of the world-famous British accent, which sound more like a mix of Heavy German and Light French.

It was the usual routine for Neckel, patrol left, patrol right, patrol north, patrol south, always patrolling day and night

His squadron actually made him who he is today, without them,he'd be totally lost.Even though his squadron is clearly less experienced than him,and he himself is barely considered a veteran, surprisingly, they are one of the well-known squadrons in all of England, they are notably famous for their participation in the London Bombings that occured months ago,and drove the Germans back.

As always, patrol, patrol, patrol for Edward and his squad. It seems like they will never get another important assignment. The mission they had during the London Bombings was a last resort by the British Military.Even though they had managed to beyond than surprise their superiors, they were told that they were soon going to get more assignments, but those assignements have not come yet...

Johann Jakob Von Ludwussen
Western Front
Over Belgium

As Johann awaited the response from his squad mate he noticed that his friend pointed to a group of enemy planes below, with a slight grin on his face, Johann pulled his tri-plane upwards before diving down towards the enemy squadron. Johann felt his adrenaline rush as he cocked his two machine guns before setting his sights onto one of the enemy planes, as Johann was able to let out a short volley of rounds he remembered what Wilhelm said "We are sportsmen not murders," with a hint of disgust, Johann fired off a couple rounds at the engine of the enemy plane before swooping past it. After causing damage to the internals of the plane, Johann slowed his tri-planes speed down to make a tight turn then speed up to the enemy plane. Johann quickly lined up his sights at the side of the cockpit and unloaded a long volley into the side, the bullets shredded through the thin sides like butter and quickly killed the pilot. The barrels of both machine guns were smoking and Johann had a smile on his face, he was so pleased with his "Kill" he drew his thumb across his neck and thumbed down as he watched the enemy plane dive to the ground below.

As the enemy fired the first shots at Von Kaiser's squadron, they went into a dive toward the enemy slightly below, and Wilhelm began shooting at a Sopwith Camel with his Fokker Triplane and destroyed its wings and it went barreling to the ground and after that Wilhelm stopped firing, because he belived combat was about sport not murder and considered trying to kill your opponent unsportsmanlike. The squadron of aces each picked a plane to persue, exept for one which was an observer plane Wilhelm took with him to officially credit his kills. Wilhelm took the enemy ace Johann. The German, and some Austrian, pilots always flew with their back to the sun, and would always get into a good firing posistion before trying to shoot down an enemy plane. And following the advice of Manfred Von Richthofen, the pilots were recomended to run away from fights they cannot win. The numbers were about even, and the squadron recived great training, Wilhelm personally trained every member indidvidually, so the circle of aces belived they could win.
