Nation: Kingdom of Naples
Capital: Naples
Leader: King Philip III (Louis will be the one who will lead the rebellion after some RP)
Population: 3,250,000 (just a guess since best I could find was plague killed 1,250,000 people in the kingdom in 1656: so it would have to be considrably higher than that)
Territories: (Image)
Information: The Kingdom of Naples, comprising the southern part of the Italian Peninsula, was the remainder of the old Kingdom of Sicily after secession of the island of Sicily as a result of the Sicilian Vespers rebellion of 1282.
René of Anjou temporarily united the claims of junior and senior Angevin lines. In 1442, however, Alfonso V conquered the Kingdom of Naples and unified Sicily and Naples once again as dependencies of Aragon. At his death in 1458, the kingdom was again separated and Naples was inherited by Ferrante, Alfonso's illegitimate son.
Essentially, after about two century: Louis de Lorraine, Duke of Joyeuse will seek papal recognition of his legitimacy to throne of Naples as descendant of King René I of Naples before forging alliances with powers of Europe and declaring himself to be the king of Naples.

My knowledge of XVII's history is a bit rusty atm.
Well, as far as I remember, and as far as a brief glance through Wikipedia tell me.....for the most part, yes. Florence was under the Medici family, who went on to unify and control almost all of Tuscany for around what, two centuries? Something like that. They only lost power in the mid-1700s, when it got absorbed by....someone I can't remember.
You would currently be under the leadership of Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany.

Information: The economy was so decrepit that barter trade became prevalent in rural market places. The exchequer was barely adequate to cover the state's current expenditure, resulting in a complete termination of banking operations for the Medici. Ferdinando was obsessed with new technology, and had several hygrometers, barometers, thermometers, and telescopes installed in the Pitti. In 1657, Leopoldo de' Medici, the Grand Duke's youngest brother, established the Accademia del Cimento, which set up to attract scientists from all over Tuscany to Florence for mutual study.

Thanks for the answer! I'll fill in an app soon, or maybe tomorrow, depending on that little crazy thing called time.
