A New Era: 1950's [IC/Closed]

Postby Egemore » Fri Oct 05, 2012 6:36 pm

The Date is January 1st, 1950. Over the last 50 years, the world has been dramatically changed from the old order to the new. The old powers of Britain and France are in decline, losing their colonies around the world. Tensions between the new powers of the USA and the USSR are heating up with the Soviet development of the atom bomb and escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula. Everybody is still recovering from the Second World War, and the UN headquarters has just been completed in New York City. How will you lead your nation in the coming years? How will history change?

“Good Evening. My name is Trygve Lie, your Secretary General of the United Nations. Last year was a good one for the world, and I need not explain the remarkable progress we have had. Many new countries joined our ranks. Civil wars in the Balkans and in Asia wound down, and countries are doing well recovering from our latest world war. Another war so destructive must never be fought again. As a whole, the international community must always attempt to promote peace. In particular, tensions in the Korean Peninsula threaten the stability of the world. It is my sincere hope that the world can remain at peace and have a prosperous year in 1950. Thank you, and a very happy new year. ”

January 1st, 1950 - 9:50 in London

Harold Macmillan sits down at his desk.

"That was certainly a long flight wasn't it? I still don't see the big fuss over these De-Havilland Comets, if you ask me."
He takes a sip of his tea.
"Well then, what should my first order of business be?*
Harold takes a look out his window,
"JEREMY!" "Yes sir?" "We must repair the city! Send out work crews at once!" "Right away sir!"

Beijing, 12.00 AM

Mao Zedong and Zhou EnLai quickly began the meeting with the generals and ministers, to talked about the invasion to Mongolia:

"I say, let's get rid of them!!!" said General Zung Jilai, the general who famous for his extremely ruthless characteristics.
"No!!! Let's make them our vassal!!!" said Minister of Foreign Relationship, Mr An Juang.

"SILENCE!!!" said Mao Zedong, and the people silenced.

"Today, our nation marked the first-ever invasion to outer area, ever since the Qing Dynasty. Now, what we need is support to invade Mongolia, and with USSR and USA not interested in this war, I said let's make them our vassal. Generals, order your men to invade Mongolia. Ministers, meet with me two days from now, to talk about the plans for our economical expansion." said Premier Zhou Enlai.

The ministers and generals quickly made their way out from the office:

"Do you think this will be succeed?" asked Mao.
"Yes, Mao. This will be succeed." said Zhou.

Berlin, East Germany, February 1950

Wilhelm Pieck looked outside the window. Berlin slowly recovered from the war.
The problem were the own people, because they often buyed theit goods in stores of West Germany, because they were already filled.
He opened the newspaper 'Neues Deutschland' and read in it.

There was an article praising the foundation of the New Ministry of State Security and a small biography of its Minister, Wilhelm Zaisser.
Further there were articles praising the SED, the leading political party of the German Democratic Republic. Another article wanted the people to give to the nation so the nation is able to recover soon.

It was time to think about Foreign Relations though and Ulbricht shall take care of that soon.

The Great Process...

The invasion was clearly a success, in which only would probably needed 6 months.

The ministers and Zhou Enlai agreed to make a partnership in trade agreement with Indonesia and USSR, following their magnificent success in the war for their freedom.

The conscription was a success, about 28 miliion men joined the conscription. The people now worked hard to produced more weapons, food, water, and medicine. The energy system, particularly coal and oil, will be used to enhanced the energy system. The ports are being guarded by thousands of trained soldiers.

The new railways are under construction, while the houses for civillians are almost finished to be constructed.

As the repairing comes together, the issue rises: The Germans must pay reparations. The Germans, of course, are not happy about this, because they are still trying to pay the reparation debts of WWI (OOC note - WWI reparation debt was not fully paid until 2008)

Bogotá City, Colombia
One week after election results

"A time of war and uncertainty", read the front page of the nation's larges newspaper, and right under it were the words "¡Guerra Civil!", Civil War in English, in large font letters. The elections were categorized by the liberal and communist parties as 'fixed' and their respective paramilitaries were being reorganized, as was warned by the party leaders soon after results were made public.

A small battle soon began at the Liberal Party of Colombia headquarters in central Bogotá, when the president, Luis Mariano Ospina Pérez, ordered the party leaders be arrested for incitation of civil disorder and treason. Even though the Liberal Party Paramilitary (known as LA/ Liberation Army) was not victorious and the party lost its HQ, key LA and party members were able to escape to an undisclosed location.

In rural colombia, toward the south of the nation, where the communist party has a stronghold within the population Communist Party leaders declared their intentions of deposing President Mariano Ospina. The president too ordered communist party leaders to be arrested, but the location of the party's key members are unknown and their HQ building (located in Bogotá) was abandoned.

It appears that the country will face grate changes, either through force or through diplomacy, but things are far from stable.

Athens, Greece.

Konstantinos Karamanlis was appointed leader after a rebellion between communist and anti-communist forces. After a his election, he was getting ready to head to the United Nations. A war seemed like it was slowly building up between Communists and Anti-communists, and he still wasn't sure what side he would go with. The economy was doing well, and he didn't want to shatter it by getting in cold wars with other nations. They could lead to other wars anyway. Finishing his coffee, he put down his mug, and walked downstairs. His bodyguards got ready, and he got into his taxi.

A while later, he arrived in America, at the United Nations. He was going there mostly to see how other nations were going in the cold war. He got into his room, and slept, preparing to enter the UN.

Dear Sir,

The battle for Colombia has begun. The President has oppressed your people for too long, and I can see that this is something which the USSR can change. My country is willing to send you weapons and vehicles to aid you in your fight against the fascist President Mariano Ospina and, should that not be enough, we are willing to deploy a small number of soldiers to aid your cause.

Dear comrades in Russia,

Our economy suffers and so do our people.
We know we have to take the responsibility for our actions during World War II, but we would like to ask you to lower the reparations we have to pay. In return we will stay on our way to become a socialist model country.
A close cooperation should be our main target in near future as the capitalist nations are on the rise.

Sincerely,
Walter Ulbricht
General secretary of the SED in the German Democratic Republic

The Battle of Mongolia, was clearly gave China a great advantage, due to the citizens of Mongolia were supported the Chinese Army, and with the unorganized army and incompetent high-ranked military officers, the government quickly surrendered. Of course, the Nationalist in Taiwan opposed this invasion, but other than that, no other nations involved by. The loyalists, perhaps, will revolted, but they were weak.

Letter:

TO USSR

We, the People's Republic of Chinese, want to make a relationship with your nation, with a trade agreement too.

Please Respond,

Signed,
Zhou Enlai.

Dear Sir,

Whilst I sympathise with your government during these hard economic times, there is simply no viable way for my country to reduce the reparations owed to us by the German people. We understand that the citizens of East Germany are a lot more repentant than the capitalists in the West German region, however to simply absolve one nation of their atrocities following the Great War would be unpopular and would show weakness.

My country would be more than willing to help with humanitarian missions to your people, and we would also be most open to East German workers being sent to the USSR in an effort to reduce the burden on your economy.

Overview of events

- 10,000 soldiers sent into Soviet controlled Austria following a minor protest against communism in Vienna. The soldiers quickly contained the protest, arresting several citizens and sending them to be detained in the East of the city.

Presumed Location: PCC HQ, Caqueta Province / Southern Colombia

The Partido Comunista de Colombia (Communist Party/ PCC) had been pushed into hiding by the Conservative Party, now the only officially recognized party. The PCC had only a few thousand members in their paramilitary known as the "Fuerza Popular" (Popular Force). Their HQ had long been a secret, but presumed by the government to be somewhere in the densely forested south. The PCC had practically disappeared and they held quite the stronghold in rural southern Colombia. The government knew that the PCC would receive the support of the population and as such, finding their location would be quite difficult.

"Mi señor..." spoke a middle aged man with a tipical PCC uniform, "We have recieved an official communiqué from the government of Russia."

The "señor" he was referring to was no other than Manuel Antonio Sibaja, leader of the PCC and its paramilitary force. Manuel Antonio, sitting at his desk with many maps on its surface silently nodded at the man, and without one word recieved the paper he held with a firm grip, the soviet communiqué.

Manuel put on his reading glasses and silently read the paper, it held the following message:

To: Communist Party of Colombia
From: Andrey Vyshinsky, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR

Encryption: Very High

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir,

The battle for Colombia has begun. The President has oppressed your people for too long, and I can see that this is something which the USSR can change. Sincerely,

Andrey Vyshinsky
Minister for Foreign Affairs for the USSR

The face of the leader almost glowed as he read and re-read the paper, the USSR was supporting the revolt and the PCC in its fight. The PCC was the smallest of the parties in colombia, and as such, held the least support from the population, but they could put up quite a fight, and it wouldn't be long before the other two parties began to loose popularity.

Manuel Antonio immediately called other key members to his office as it was time to make decisions, decisions that would influence the war greatly.

Casa Rosada - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Three years after the elections, President José P. Tamborini still could not believe that he had successfully defeated Perón. And yet, here he was today, sitting on Rivadavia's chair, ruling over a country that had saved itself from the clutches of Fascism, and was now slawly walking, once again, down the road of democracy.

However, that did not mean that the Military had lost their political power. All the contrary. Now, more than ever before, the liberal wing of the Argentine Military held a great deal of control over the nation's government.

In fact, right now, as he sat on his chair in his office, a young military officer was on his way to New York, to act as Argentina's representative in the United Nations.

There, young colonel Nazareno N. Lorente would speak of the hopes, dreams and demands of the New Argentina that was being born.

Almost 8 months had passed....

The diplomatic meeting was a success, and the USSR agreed to train the Chinese Army, and supplied them with weapons and technologies.

Premier Zhou Enlai began to asked the North Korea's government to made a trade-military relationship.

The Chinese Army began made preparation for the Invasion of Bhutan-Nepal, with the new tanks and artilleries were loaded into the trucks that were bought from USSR.

The new roads, bridges, farms, and railways are on the plan for the economical expansion to Mongolia and Inner China.
